Bryn replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
eventually i would like to get lasik eye surgery, a boob lift/augmentation. nothing else really. haven't had kids yet so nip/tucks right now would be pointless. -
my incisions were held together with dermabond. i had an allergic reaction to it. didn't realize it til i went to my one week post op appt. and doc saw it. she said i can start taking off the dermabond around the incision site. felt so relieved and much better. still itched for a few weeks after that. but nothing a little benadryl cream can't take care of. definitely call your doctor thought about whether or not letting the incisions heal with/without the bandages.

Does this guy already have a band?

I would speak to someone about your eating habits. If I remember correctly, i was watching an eating show, and one woman did this. It was considered an eating disorder. She would binge at night doing this. Try to not make that a habit.

indeed!! I had my surgery with her in April. I don't mind it so much anymore

anyone seeing Dr. Cynthia Long in Maryland? I started seeing her in Silver Spring, but after the new year, she'll be in Baltimore at Sinai Hospital? I'm torn on the idea about her going to bmore, but I don't want to change doctors now that I'm towards the end of the process. Is anyone else switching doctors now that she is moving? Or are you just sticking it out and going to bmore?

Even though I am sleeved, my first option was the lap-band. I thought it'd be ideal to get something that could be removed if anything were to happen. But after research and learning a lot from other lap banders, I chose the sleeve. I knew I needed something that was permanent. I also needed something that really didn't have any major complications or restriction afterwards (slipping, erosion, fill, unfill, port flipping, etc.) And I know this doesn't happen to everyone. the idea of having the band just sit between my belly didn't "sit" well with me. I thought of it as this: if I wrapped a rubber exercise band around my upper arm for a year w/o removing it, and all of a sudden i removed it, my arm will no longer go back to the way it was. i'd have some form of tissue damage, atrophy, etc. i figured, if i'd might as well go ahead and get the biggest part of my tummy removed! Now although leaks may occur with sleeve surgery, i made sure i did my research on my doc. iirc, she only had one leak, and they caught it and fixed it and she was outta the hospital in 2 days with no further complications. I'm 3.5 weeks out and i am loving my sleeve. 37 lbs down and it's amazing how i feel. i haven't had problems with eating any of the food i've tried. restriction is amazing and i never hurt or nothing has gotten stuck. never vomited (only after taking meds/vitamins when i got home). After 4 weeks, my NUT said i can try anything i want, but in moderation; besides i get full after a few bites. I plan on taking it slow because i will not let myself ruin this. i do no feel hunger at times, but i drink Water or crystal light and it goes away. i can now tell the difference between head hunger and real hunger. but overall, i didn't want the band because of continued maintenance. who knows when i switch insurances if they cover the fills, or if i move and there's no fill doctor, or i go somewhere and i have problems with my band and no other doctor will touch a previous doctors work etc. just do your research and do what is right and comfortable for YOU!!. GOOD LUCK with your journey and I hope you come outta this with complete confidence! :-)

i use baby powder as well. seems to do the trick i was also told by my PCP to document/take pics of the redness, scratches etc. and go see her so she could document the irritation and proof that I am in discomfort so that if it keeps happening or a fungal infection occurs i have proof just in case down the road i need a lift/breast reduction

Multivitamin equals vomitting

Happened to me as well. for me the texture is horrid and the taste is disgusting. for both calcium citrate and the multi. I've replaced the calcium citrate with the chewy bites, got the capsule multi and i just open the capsule and put into my yogurt, Protein drink or other soft food I'm eating. doctor said i'm already swallowing enough pills so early out, so what i'm doing is ok. she said at the 3 month mark i can swallow the capsule. -
I made a post about this as well. I assumed it was hormones. It wasn't horrible acne, just a few pimples here and there. but now my face has cleared up lol. could be i am getting more water in, and i started eating food (mushies). but ya, if it starts back up again, to the dermatologist i go

isn't the sodium level high in those meals? i use to eat a ton of frozen Entrees pre-op, i'm 3 weeks out and don't have a craving for them. the ones i ate prior though, would not be good for me now so i guess it's a blessing lol -
Yep, it can be associated tot weight loss, some folks may experience spasms, pains, etc. Our bodies have had to endure and has gotten use to carrying a larger load than what it is accustomed to. Now that weight is falling off, it also has to get accustomed to the weight change. I know I had low back pain during first week because of sleeping only on my back for first couple days.

Ugh same here, lol. Went to see a movie yesterday and darn near died. I kept squirming and my bf was looking at me funny, lol

My doc told me to stop taking it 6 weeks prior to surgery. I was told this in my initial consult, and when I received my date -
Consistant weekly weight loss
Bryn replied to groovearmada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only a little over two weeks out, and i think it's expected to drop weight early on and i know i'll most likely have my stall days/weeks; especially when i begin to eat regular food. but right now i'm consistently losing at least 1 pound a day. still freaks me out and is so foreign to me, but i'm not complaining. i know i'll be complaining though when i stall -
who has had a leak or stricture?
Bryn replied to kids05's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not had a complication *knock on wood*. but i think you see people here having complications (some) because these boards (and others) are the only place where people can really go to vent and speak about their complications. i hope you are ok and have no complications -
