I've been big since I was a kid.  For the better part of 30 years I've struggled with my size.  I've looked into lap band on and off seriously since 2005.  Originally, I was looking at Holy Cross Hospital, but now I'm more interested in Dr. Wizman's practice in Margate.  I registered today (8/19/2010) for the information session on 8/24 @ 6PM.  After the session, I decided it was right for me and the right time to do it.  Dr. Wizman's staff recommended a primary care physician, as I have not had one since switching jobs and insurance in 2006.  Met with the Doctor and Staff during a consultation on 9/8.  HE was very supportive, blunt, knowledgable and honest.  I asked a bunch of questions.  Diane, his office manager/coordinator was very nice, ddi my inital intake and then we met with the doctor.  Dr. Wizman doesn't tell you how it it is, he listened and answered every one of my questions.  I think he sensed my attitude and knew I had been keeping up with his practice over the last few years.  The cost will be $10K and first fill is free, subsequent fills are $150, office visits are free.  Although I see this as a very private thing, I also will make it very public with the weight loss and will be using Dr. Wizman's resources to make sure I am very successful.  One thing I really like is their 18 month fallback program.  The idea is, after 12-18 months, people are more likely to become complacent in their wieght control.  I've never had surgery before, never really been sick, but I think that right now, I'm only unhealthy due to my size.  I do not have any co morbidities.  Instead of investing in my 401k, I think for a year I can divert funds to my health and gain an extra 10 years of life.  On the trend I'm heading, I want to stop and reverse this.
