My highest weight was 388lbs and I felt horrible. Simple things like bending over to tie my shoes put me out of breath.  Walking far distances was out of the question and going out to have fun was far and few.  I considered lap band for three years and I managed to lose 15lbs in those three years by cutting back some.  So I went in to the lap band surgeon at 373.  I lost 13 pounds on my week of liquids and weighed in at 360 on 2/23/10.  I have only lost 32 pounds in the six months since surgery but I will take that and be happy with it.  I should have lost more but I am having a hard time cutting out ice cream, chips, and m&m's! I really need help with that...hence me joining this site! I plan to be more consistent with my exercise routines also.  I do realize this is just a tool and I must follow the rules to be successful and hopefully the remainder of my journey will be great!
