    Still hungry

I think beans are a good source of protein and carbs. I believe oatmeal is a complex carb as well and full of fiber which will help you stay full longer and not over eat later. Well, follow your Dr. recommendations...LOL! I just love me some beans and oatmeal and they were both on my list of mushies. Everybody has a different list though. Like Fluffytofab said I would be careful though because everybody is different and process carbs differently. Since I workout 5 days a week I need some good carbs in my life for energy.

    SOOOO confused!!!

Do what you want to do and what your heart leads you to do. There is always going to be issues with ALL the WLS that they have out there. I wouldn't say one is better or worse than the other one. I think a lot of people choose the band because it's a less invasive surgery and there is no cutting your body parts. It's a personal thing so don't pay too much attention to all these posts when it comes to choosing.
  3. I wouldn't call your weight loss slow if averaged over the last 3 months since you have had surgery it equals around 6 pounds a month. It probably seems that way because it may be a week or two were you lose nothing but your avg is actually great!

    New Bee!!!

Congrats on managing to keep your 20 pounds off! The reason why I had surgery is that I couldn't waste another year of my adult life being severly overweight. I have been over 200 pounds since the age of 12 or 13 and it just kept getting worse as I got older. Some people can say that I could have done it without the band but I really don't think so because being fat and my habits is all I have know since childhood. I have lost weight in the past before but it always came back. I am hoping with this band it will never come back again! Good luck! BTW...I don't feel any different as a person with the band. I am just happy I can get out of bed in the morning without pain!
  5. Yep, water is good and will help with your weight loss. If you are dehydrated the body will store and hold on to all the fluids that you currently have and cause you not to lose some weight. You may lose some but it's gonna hold on to what it's got! I hate water so I do the 8 cups a day.

    Still hungry

Oh, I ate the beans as a meal by itself. I would get refried beans and put sour cream and cheese on them. I use the Jillian Michaels whey Vanilla protein and add 1tb peanut butter, milk, and a little frozen yogurt in it. It's really good! You should be able to eat cream of wheat and oatmeal now. If you add a scoop of protein powder to your oatmeal it will help with the fullness too.

    Still hungry

A lot of people go through this after being on liquids and mushies for so long. I didn't have this problem because I drunk protein shakes in between meals and my mushies mostly consisted of refried beans and oatmeal which both of those will keep you full longer and the beans kept me bloated! So, I rarely was hungry.

    Help! Possibly to tight

I think the band is just tricky and you may not be too tight. If you are having these problems for 3 or more days in a row then I would consult your doctor. Most days are fine for me but then at least once or twice out of the week I feel like I am extremly full and I haven't even ate breakfast. I just drink my hot coffee and within an hour I can eat. If drinking warm liquids every day doesn't help you then you may have a problem as well. Most people bands relieve them when they drink hot liquids. I hope this helps.

    Still hate my band

After reading through this whole thread I would have to say I loved reading your response the most! Great advice and information!

    Blue Monday?, it is now!

Mmmmm....I felt extremly happy and grateful on yesterday!! Well, I paid cash for all of my Christmas presents and I started on my New Year goals before 2011 even got here and I am still following through so that may explain it! LOL! Anyways, I don't have any problems eating chips so I can't help you with that one. I try not to buy them at all because they are a waste of calories but sometimes a girl gots to have some chips and chocolate once a month if you know what I mean! I have severe cravings for chips, M&M's and fried fish during that time and I can't stand it! I did good though this month though! I fought the cravings and only had one bag of M&M's and some low-fat frozen yogurt.

    Tired of being miserable

I agree! New doctor please! I had the same problem up to 7 months after my surgery and I knew it was not my fault so I switch doctors and starting getting better fills and that made the world of a difference and they were more motivational and nicer which helped as well!

    ~~NSV~~

LOL! It is a big deal!!!!!!!!!!!! I know exactly how exciting that is!!!!!!!!!!! Even tying your shoes with ease is exciting! I use to have my sister tie my shoes for me because I would get out of breath from bending over and trying to struggle around all the fat!
  13. Yeaaaaaa!!!! I know you were too happy! I hope you reach your goal weight and rock that dress!!!!! Don't forget to post your pics on here so we all can see! Congrats!
  14. I'm sorry that you thought the band was like the other WLS. They should have explained that to you when you came in for your consult. I am at 7.3cc's and I am able to eat everything that I ate before I had the band. I make choices not to eat those things because I didn't have this surgery just to stay the same or re-gain what I have lost. I have never slimed, PB, or threw up anything in the 10.5 months of being banded. You may be lucky like me and not have any issues eating anything. For some people this is not luck but a curse because they want to have the ill effects of eating certain foods to keep them from eating them a second time. I don't ever want to feel sick! I'm glad that I don't have to get sick in order to lose weight. I can do it by simply following the rules (most of the time lol). If I want ice cream I get frozen yogurt. I am sure as time goes along you will find something that you can substitute your favorite foods for that's better for you. I am not sure what will take the place of a big mac though.... I hope you have success with your band!

    eating after fill

I drink all liquids the day of the fill and then the next day I have mushies all day. Third day back to my regular diet but I still try to keep it light just in case. I don't think you did anything to yourself. Your stomach may be a little irritated. I have a tough tummy but yours may be sensitive to having the band on period so next time take it easy for a few days and see if that helps.
  16. I really didn't believe that my weight loss would be this slow...I am on target with the 1 to 2lbs a week rate when my loss is averaged out since I've been banded. I am learning to be happy with that because I am learning new habits that will stick with me in the long run. I have never kept off any weight loss for this long and I am very proud of myself.
  17. I'm afraid of how I am going to look when I lose it all. I believe it's going to come off but I have never been a normal size adult so I have no idea what the real me look like. I was 12 years old the last time I was under 200 and my goal is 199. I have a long way to go to get there and I am starting to get excited the closer I get to the 200's!

5 months post-op, little weight loss & problems with band

Have you tried eating canned tuna or other soft proteins like that so you can at least get something good in you? I love tuna! I am not a big meat eater so fish, eggs, and beans are usually my sources of protein. They all seem to go down pretty well too. Good luck!

    Red Lobster

Yummy!!!!!!!!!!! The last time I went I got the talapia dinner and bacon potato soup. I ate all the soup and took most of my fish home but I nibbled at the top of that biscuit! It was so good! I didn't have any problems eating the top of it!
  20. Noturningback15

    Denial

When I was almost 400lbs I was in denial big time! I looked past all the fat when I looked in the mirror because I just didn't want to see it! When I looked at photos I was humiliated! Now, that I have lost a whole lot of inches and over 80lbs I see that 400lb person when I look in the mirror! Crazy! I just can't get those images from those photos out of my head! Every blue moon I see myself as I actually am but usually it's the bigger me I see.
  21. When you get to the mushy stage.....I bought boxes and boxes of Instant oatmeal and cream of wheat...they were perfect because it's already measured and you just have to add 1/2 cup of milk or your choice of liquid.
  22. Noturningback15

    Oatmeal, farina, cream of wheat?

I was allowed these on the 2nd full week after surgery and then it had to be very thin like soup.
  23. LOL! I am the same way about Jello now! Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Noturningback15

    Anyone still here?

Well, how did your surgery go? I hope it went well for you! I'm sorry all I could think about was how bad the gas was? To be honest that is all I could remember!

I can"t eat breakfast, I can eat a house for dinner

Have you tried eating every 2 to 3 hours? That may help. For the last few days I have been getting extremly hungry around 830 or 9PM and I have no idea why this started. It's very irritating so I understand what you are going through! Last night I drunk a cup of lemonade and it took the big hunger pains away and then I just went to sleep to avoid eating when that wore off. I am going to try to eat something even if it's yogurt every 2 to 3 hours to see if this will help me.
