When do you see weight loss?

First, congrats! I've lost 55 to date and I don't "see" a change. I went from a 26 to a 20 (100% cotton), shoe size went from an 11 to 10, my collar bones are starting to appear and I can feel my ribs and hip bones. But again, I don't "see" it yet myself. Others have notice.

Looks like I'll be having another surgery!

Sorry to hear that you have to get another surgery. Hope everything goes smoothly and you're back to 100% sooner rather than later.

    Anyone drop a shoe size?

Yes! And it felt great! I went from an 11 to a 10 and it's starting to flop. My feet was ALWAYS swollen, not any more (happy face).

    bcbs ppo

I have BCBS and I didn't need any of the things listed abov2. I've only been overweight for the past 3 years (gained a ton of weight when pregnant and some extra weight), I didn't do a six month diet or anything. I met with my surgeon on 6/2 and had my procedure 8/16 and once all my paperwork was in they submitted it to insurance and I was approved the very next day. I don't really think you can really follow anyones process, just know that there's hope.

    Chances for being covered?

Call your insurance and ask if they cover it, it should take no more the 5 minutes of your time and and you'll know exactly what needs to be done. I thought i'd have to jump through hoops, but I didnt . Good luck.

    Pure Protein

I'm using Pure Protein for my protein during the full liquid deit...love it. I also used it as meal replacements during the pre-op process. I like it a lot better than EAS and Bariactrics, plus they're easy to find. Its a great buy 120-140 calories and 23-25 grams of protein, more if you use milk!

    Driving....

The driving restriction is associated with your pain medication; if you're on pain medication you shouldn't drive. I drove the day after my procudure, I found it helpful to carry a towel in the car, I folded it and placed it over my belly...its to limit your discomfort of the seatbelt and driving over bumps.

    Lap band and bras

Yes, I am a 40DD; I was "bra-less" during my hospital stay. Boy did I wish someone had told me not to pack an underwire bra with my going home outfit. Once I got home I put on a sports bra and have been in haven since.
  12. I think in general if you're conscience (sp) about that area you will worry. I get a bikini wax every 3 weeks, I did make my appt the Friday before my Monday surgery. I personally perfer to have the area groomed at all times. I know they need to put benadin (sp) all over your belly so I imagine someone will atleast see the top. I was shocked to find a monitor sticky under my left breast...someone at the very least looked/touched my breast. I was conpletely out of it so it doesn't really matter. I will feel a little funny when I see my surgeon for my 2 week check up, he's so handsome (I have a little crush on him).

    Post Op Diet

I was banded on Monday 8/16, I was instructed to maintain a clear liquid diet for 1 week. I don't think that I can do it. I'm not hungry and nor do I have an appetite, but I can't sit another day and drink this stuff for 2.5 hours 3 times a day. I'm thinking of moving on to full liquids (yogurt only) to get my protien in. I honestly don't think it should be a problem because some surgeons only require a liquid diet, they don't say "clear". Further more, all day yesterday, I drank 1 oz every 5 to 10 mins rather than every 15 mins just to cut down the time. I think the only way I'll get my protien in is to mix it in my yogurt. Let me know what you think.

    Post Op Diet

Thanks to everyone for replying. I can drink Water, soup, Jello and popsicle. Its just mixing this protien with the water that is driving me crazy. I did mix the protien powder w/ yogurt and did fine. But l'll just have to suck it up and drink it. This time yesterday I had twice as much Protein and felt good, I've been sleep pratically all day and I think its because of the protien. I really want to be a good bandster, so I'll do as the doctor insructed. Losethemess-I've lost 6 pounds since Monday. I was truly shocked because I was anticipating a gain due to the fluids. I walked the corridor every half hour while in the hospital. In addition, when I got home I was on treadmill every last 20 mins of the hour, I ranged from 2.5 to 3.0. Lastly, I'm not in any pain. From what I've read I was expecting the worst pain ever. When I came from recovery I was asked my pain on a 1 to 10 and I said 0...everyone was very shocked. Which is weird because I don't have a high tolerance. I do have discomfort where my incisions are, but no pain. So don't push yourself if you're in pain.
