  1. I have run into an issue with my band and I don't know what to do... My last appointment three weeks ago it was decided not to add or subtract any fluid because I was doing really well with the amount of restriction that I had. I lost 10 lbs in three weeks!! However, over this last three weeks I have been having a lot of trouble eating and drinking, no vomiting, but lots of getting stuck, pbing and sliming. And I have only dropped a couple of pounds. I don't understand why that is??? What could cause this to happen? I go back in tomorrow and I need to decide if I want to have fluid removed. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

    Confused!!!

Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate it. The doc decided to do a .8cc fill today and I am to call if I have any problems. I was told to re-introduce food slowly and to see what it is that is giving me problems and to avoid eating them, also that with each fill you may not be able to eat the same things as before. Sooooo... we will see what happens! I feel better, liquids are going down with no problem and I guess I will know better about food in a few days. I will let you know how it goes. The up side is that I was down another 5.2 lbs from last month and that was with no fill last month! I am now at 5.6cc in a 10cc band.
  3. I was banded July 14 and have lost 34lbs. Right after surgery with on fill I lost 4lbs. At my first fill I had lost 7lbs, second fill 10lbs, third appt 10lbs (no fill done due to weight lost and not being hungry between meals). Currently at 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I am scheduled every 3 weeks for an adjustment. I feel that I will need another fill when I go next week, due to being able to eat more and being hungry between meals. It is strange how the weight comes off because my scale will not move for about two weeks and then that third week before my appt I will see this tremendous drop in weight. I can feel it in my clothes before I see it on the scale. Is anyone else experiencing this??? :frown:

    Big goal met!

WOW!! you look awesome. Do you have to do a double take when walking past a mirror? You had your surgery after me and have lost double the weight that I have... You are certainly an inspiration!! Congrats!
  5. I can't remember who it was that made the suggestion of Amplified Wheybiolic Protien Advanced powder. But THANK YOU!! :tt2: I went and bought the pouch for $25.99 from GNC on Thursday last week, drank for the first time on Friday and once a day since and I have dropped 5 lbs and gotten my energy back! I was feeling so tired from apparently not getting enough protein daily and my weight loss was bouncing up and down like a yo-yo. I am going to invest in the big container next and make it a daily part of my diet from now on. The only downside is that if you make the full serving amount it gives it will take most of the day to finish drinking it, or at least it did me. I used a smaller 16 oz container this morning and one scoop of powder which the guy at the store recommened and it was easier to finish. So I may have to do one in the morning and one at night, probably after I work out... :smile2:
  6. I had my third fill on 09/21/2010 which places me at 4.8cc's in a 10cc band. I have been having a REALLY hard time eating since then. After a couple of bites I am done, I am full and I am near the overfull point. Anything that has to be chewed, is not going down very easily, I have to drink in small sips to get liquids down. A friend of mine told me to try to wait for a week or two before going back in for an unfill. Is this normal when you reach restriction? All of the things that I was told prior to surgery are coming to mind now of chew, chew, chew, drink in small sips, wait a minute between each bite. I am doing all of this. My main concern is that I am not getting enough calories and protien in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  7. I was banded on July 14, 2010 and have a 10cc band. I had my third fill on 09/21 and I am now at 4.8cc and that is good restriction for me right now. I have dropped 3lbs over the last 3 days! Not normal I am sure but I am not complaining! I was told my my technician that it depends on the size of the band as well as the person, every individual is different. I had spent so much time wondering if I would recognize the sweet spot, and actually my body has told me I am currently there. I have had fills done every 3 weeks following surgery and I am finally satiated. YAY!!! I love my BAND
  8. Boston Market's chicken tortilla soup... I don't like chili  although that seems to be very popular for most.

    Band adjustment question

I was banded on 7/14 and a week later I was so hungry that I was nearly in tears because I couldn't eat solid foods to satisfy what I was feeling. This feeling/ stomach growling/ gnawing hunger pains, got better after my first fill, and waaaayyy better after my second one. :crying: I am at 4cc's in a 10cc band and I think that I will be in the sweet zone with just a little fill that I have scheduled next week. It does get better, which is good because after surgery I was really wondering if I had done the right thing!
  10. Sounds good!!! Would love the recipe...
  11. I had that feeling as well and I used the ice pack that they gave me and kept in on my stomach for the first week after surgery anytime that I started to feel any discomfort. It wasn't so much pain as it was discomfort. Continue with the small sips and try hot instead of cold, it may go down better! Good luck!!!
  12. Banded July 14th lost 19lbs since surgery.
  13. Steak is fine for me in small bites, can not eat hamburger at all. Popcorn is no problem. Nuts are no problem. Raw veggies are no problem. Tried eggs once and that was enough for me not to try it again. I was banded July 14th and I have had 2 fills for a total of 4CC's and it is hit or miss right now on what I can and can't eat. It seems to change with each fill. Right now chicken and raw veggies and fruit are my diet.
  14. That is a good question... Although we all know the benefits of exercise. Does it really make that big of a difference in the amount of weight you lose with the band? Or the amount of time it takes to lose weight? I just wonder, how many of us are sticking to a workout regimine and how many are not and what the weight loss ratio looks like? Just curious... :w00t:
  15. Thanks to everyone for your input!!! I really appreciate your advice and opinions and it has been helpful and motivating. I love to exercise as it helps with my mood, and to sleep as well! I am a newbie to all of this and am still trying to learn what I can and can't eat, which seems to change with each fill... why is that? I am excited and motivated! God bless us all on this road of change!
  16. I currently workout 5 days a week for 1 hour (30 mins cardio and 30 resistance training) I love the effects that I am seeing on my body, the scale is a whole other issue. I know that muscle weighs more than fat and I just wonder if that is why I am not seeing the lose that I would like on the scale?
  17. What does restriction feel like? How do you know physically when you are in the green zone? I had my second fill last week (.8cc) which puts me at 4.0cc... Before that my weight loss was at a stand still and then I suddenly dropped 7lbs a couple of days before my fill (surgery date 07/14/2010). I have been working out like crazy and it makes it hard to know if the loss is because the band is working or if it is from exercising...
  18. Hello fellow Bandsters! I am new to the forum and I am feeling a little discouraged. I had my surgery on July 14th and my first fill on August 10th. I have been experiencing hunger between meals and if I wanted to I could probably eat more that the recommended 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food per meal. I have been working out everyday (cardio i.e running and walking 30 mins and weights) for an hour and I have lost a total of 9 lbs!! I hear other people talking about how they lost 20+ lbs the first few weeks after surgery and I am getting so discouraged. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem? I could really use some encouragement right now!
  19. Thanks for the encouragement you guys! I guess that I didn't think of people including their pre-surg weight loss. I will try bumping up my calorie intake. I have just been afraid to do it because of the stall. I go for another fill on the 31st so hopefully that will help with the hungry feeling. I got 1.2cc on my first fill so I am at 3.2cc right now, she originally put in 1.8cc but had to remove .6cc because I couldn't get the sip of Water to go down. I am going to continue with the exercise because it just makes me feel good! I have noticed that my clothes are fitting a little more loosely in the waist and thighs and my stomach has gone down some. Just not seeing it on the scale. Good luck to you all as well! By the way where did you get the weight loss ticker from?
  20. OMGEEEE! I thought I was the only one that began to feel hungry the day of my surgery! It has been hell every since trying to eat healthily and not be hungry. I went for my first fill and I am still too loose and still hungry. My weight lose is at a stand still and I work out an hour everyday. I am not discouraged yet. I go for another fill on the 31st and this time I am full of questions about why I am going through so much hunger.:smile2:
