  1. Okay, so after not hearing for two weeks about whether my insurance will cover surgery, I assumed that I wasn't approved because my bmi is 31 (I do have high blood pressure and high cholesterol). I decided to give nutrisystem a shot and ordered.....it should be here Thursday. Out of the clear blue, the lapband center calls me today and said that my insurance coverage is excellant for lapband coverage and I have been pre-authorized. I do have to get blood work, etc. and I have a consultation Friday. My question is, do you think if I started Nutrisystem and lost weight, would that lessen my chance of being approved for surgery since my bmi is already on the cusp of acceptable? If I remotely lessen my chances, I won't start Nutrisystem, I just hate the fact that I spent so much $ for the food. I will definately ask at my consultation but Friday seems so far away. lol Sandy
  2. Hi all, I am in the insurance authorization stage. I'm 5'5" and I weigh 184 pounds. My goal weight is 120 (I'm a small framed woman). I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The dr. put me on meds for both, but the side effects are horrible and I don't want to take meds. My Dad had a stroke from high blood pressure at 55 and he passed away from heart attack at 61. My 68 year old Mom has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I feel like a walking time bomb. I've been overweight for the last 20 years (I'm 47) and I've tried every diet out there. I've lost weight and then regained it and I'm done with the rollercoaster. I want to get banded so that I re-learn how to have a healthy relationship eating the right amount of food for my body. My fear is that my insurance won't cover me since my BMI is 31 even though I have high BP and cholesterol and an awful family history. I hope and pray that the insurance will cover this. Sorry - I moved this to the insurance section Thanks for letting me vent. Sandy

64 Pounds Seems Like Enough to Me

  5. Hi, my name is Sandy and I'm from Southern California. I'm tired of programs, pills, low carb, low fat, weight loss then weight regain dieting rollercoaster that I have been on for the last 20 years. I want to lose weight once and for all. I'm considering getting a lap-band, so I've started researching the subject and think that this site will be very helpful. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.
