Stretched pouch
JOANNE M HOLL replied to RedheadMel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't stretch your pouch over a long period of time! I had my Lapband placed in 2006 and found my sweet spot and things were going great. I lost 2 sizes and I was in love with my Band so I coasted & did not try too hard to reach a goal on the scale. My diabetes, high blood pressure & etc. were improved or gone and I am 80 plus years old, so life was at it's best. I recommended the Band to anyone who inquired! Then in May of 2012 I had a mamagram and found I had Breast Cancer. The next week I had the saline removed from the Band and had breast removal the following week. To make a long story short (or long) I had drainage for several months after surgery and my eating changed. When I got back to normal health I couldn't stop eating over the long winter months. So when I visited my Bariatric Center last spring they did the dye picture & then said my pouch was stretched & there was nothing to do for me. (Age or ObomaCare? I don't know.) I cried, and then told myself I would work to find my "zone" again on my own. I've lost a little, and I still have my Band & it hasn't slipped. Now I need to just get my mind off food. I visited a Nutritionist last month and am reading some new books recommended in SparkPeople & Lapband for inspiration. -

Check with your Doctor! Hope you find what you want to do next. -
To me this is the best of the Forums: "Change from living to eat to eat to live." Now that is the healthy aim in my elderly years! We worked hard in my early years on the dairy farm. There was always the reward of really good food. (Printed in cement in my phylogenies by Parents of the old school.) Change is necessary and Labandtalk.com is a super tool. Thanks for being here!

Such wonderful thoughts. Sounds like you are in your zone! I envy you.

I have had hair loss from several small surgeries I have had in the last two years. I did not notice any hair loss in 2006 when I had my lapband placed! I am taking Biotin each day and I too notice it does help my skin & nails. I have yet to try the Noxitrin (sp) but will do so soon as some here on laptalk have recommended it.

Lap Band Surgery Story
JOANNE M HOLL replied to Immo Meyer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I do not know what a leaking bowel would have to do with a lapband. I guess my reply would be to check with your Regular General Practitioner. -

Advise needed.. Starting over
JOANNE M HOLL replied to hopefulinNY's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you really starting over? I don't think so! The tool is just an ongoing assist on this road of healthy living. The disconnection is just a pothole that needs to be fixed and it slowed you down a bit. We all are learning what it takes to drive down this road. Your doctor is updating his skills, the manufacturer is finding what they can do to improve product, and you (the recipient) will review your past actions to be sure you travel in the right direction. Your path ahead is bright and we wish you safe travel. -

I eat lunch at the Senior Center each week day. When I get there I smell fresh coffee. I have to sip a half cup! I don't drink during my meal, but it is tempting to have another half cup with friends when visiting afterwards. Life puts so many things in front of us each day! Exactly what is it that the mealtime liquid does? When home or eating out I have no problem. I'm just think in' . . . .

I've found this Forum to be honest & helpful. But there is a new generation coming along that is being raised on praise motivation. (My grandchildren, for an example.) They get a good grade in school or etc. stars, etc.. . little ones color a picture it goes up on the refrigerator with praise, etc. Probably that works too. . . . But when they grow up I just hope their boss or supervisor is up to the task. I say to use a little bit of both. . . . but what does an old Grandma know?
