Bobthedog posted a topic in The Gals' Room
I was banded on October 15th and after a couple of fills at the beginning of January I finally started to see regular weight loss. I know I shouldn't have jumped on the scale on monday or morning, or tuesday or today, after starting my period on Sunday, but I did., and I am up 6lbs. I never used to weigh myself on a regular basis since it always remand the same. So, I am not sure what is normal. But 6lbs seems like a lot from my weigh in on Friday morning. Thanks Tania -
constipation, irregular!! NEED HELP BAD!!!
Bobthedog replied to krasc001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing that I have found that helps me is magnesium. I take a 400mg pill everyday, and I am much more regular. If I go for a few days with out a movement I take 2 at the same time. I have been told that the reason it works is that your body only absorbs what it is needs and gets rid of the rest, on on the way out the maagnesium attracts Water and then softens up your stool and everything comes out. But you still need to remember to drink lot of WATER. I have told many of my friends about what I used, and they all say it works for them if they need it. I think it takes many tries for you to find what works best for yourself, but be sure to give whatever method you decide to try an honest efford, not just 1 or 2 days. Good luck Tania -
craving peanut butter...any body else??
Bobthedog replied to skeetersmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to eat PB by the spoonfuls as well, then I switched over to the all natural no salt added kind. I still like it occationally on toast but it is just not the same eating it by the spoonful with out all that sugar and salt. Maybe you just need to switch to all natural? -
Good morning, I have been taking the same fish oil as before my surgery. But if my restriction gets too great in the future I will probably go to a liquid omega3 and just add the oil to my morning protien shake. How do you find everything is going TPAD?
-
I can eat them without a problem, but i don't have much restriction yet.

Hi MArlee I stuggled with the preop diest as well, but I was able to eat real food 1 meal a day, and only had to do it for 10 days. I have not lost much for weight yet, i hope I am not one of those people that need 5 fills before i feel something. I had my first fill 1 week today, and I do notice that I stay full longer, but I think i could still eat pretty much as much as I wanted as long as I chew it and don't eat too fast. If I eat too quickly and dont chew I get back shoulder pain. Can I ask, are you self pay? if not how did you qualify in Winnipeg? Thanks , Tania

How much fluid for your first fill...and how much do you have now?
Bobthedog replied to Becca29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on October 15th, and had my first fill on friday. My fill was 4cc's. So far I wouldn't say I noticed any more restriction, but I have noticed that I stay full longer. Unfortunatly that does not stop my brain from wanting me to shovel in more food, so i was kind of hoping to find a point were I would experience some BPing, or something so I would stop myself.... -
I had my first fill yesterday with Dr. Peggy Burke. IT went really well, i had been scaring myself after I had read a bunch of posts in the fill section, things like being jabbed multiple times, not being able to find the port, ect. But she found it no problem, and was able to find it no problem. She put in 4cc's in my band, and now hopefully in the next couple of days i will find out if i have a little bit of restriction.

I'm Not Telling Anyone I'm Being Banded.....
Bobthedog replied to laurenlee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the only people that currently know that I had the surgery on the 15th of October are the other people that were having surgery the same day as me. It is a personal decision to tell anyone, or not to tell. I may start telling people once I have restriction and my eating hapits change noticeably. Chocolatecity, I am just curious how your husband won't find out, won't he see your scares? -
I have the armband, i loved it at first but the velco fell apart and it took them months to send me a new one, and I haven't worn it since. once I stopped wearing it, i lost interested, i also found it so big, that it was really hard to conceal.
-
oh my, i have been scared to get my first fill, and the idea of them digging around, and taking awhile scares me. Not looking forward to this.
-
HI, does Dr. Mitchell use fluro for his fills
-
Candies-where are you going for your consult? Swansong- I haven't heard anything about Dr. Phil Mitchell, have you look into the vancouver bandsters thread to see if anyone there has?

Bobthedog replied to boricuanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 15th, and my post op diet is clear liquids for the first week, then on the liquids for the next 2 weeks but only 1 protien shake a day. -
Band Slipped had to remove, Self Pay, Reband?
Bobthedog replied to pioneerheartland's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I am sorry to hear about all these problems. I recently got banded, and was wondering if you had any tips to prevent slippage in the future? -
I self payed and I am middle income. I saved up for the last year and had mine done in Mexico. Which is a lot cheaper than having it done here. I don't think I would have qualified for having it done in Canada anyway, as I don't think my BMI was high enough.

I have always had trouble in the past with BM, and take 2 magnesium liquid soft gels (400mg each) every couple of days. you may not need this much, but this is what works for me. you could also try taking Calcium tablets that include magnesium since you need the extra calcium anyway. I find magnesium doesnt give me the stomach cramps and bloating the otc drugs do.

I was banded on the 15th, and am still on the liquid phase. But I I am allowed to have a small liquid yogurt. Today I tried it for the first time and not even through half of it I felt full and uncomfortable. I shouldn't have any restriction at the moment, so why do I get this feeling? Thanks
-
Thanks for the feed back, I will definatly try and eat slower, that is probably at least part of the problem. I have always been a fast eater and I have to remind myself that things are different now.

Bobthedog replied to Sarah71407's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck today, and be sure to update us on it went when you feel up to it. -
how did it go? who were you banded by in Mexico? I am going to Mexico on Thursday to be banded by Dr. Ortiz.

I have my surgery on the 15, and i am doing the pre-op diet right now2-3 protien shakes and 1 meal with with lean meat and and some greens, though i have been blending up most of my greens into my shakes as i don't like them much. But i am on day 5 of the diet and have only lost 3lbs. I have a low bmi of 34, so not sure if this is part of the problem., I was told to lose 5%, so about 11lbs, but i have read some people lost 15 in a week? if thats the case, i am not doing well at all.
