  1. Everything seems to be fine now. My stomach must have been just swollen a lot! I had some pudding and didnt have any problems. I'm going to try vanilla yogurt in the morning. They had me on yogurt in the hospital the day after my swallow test and it was strawberry with strawberry pieces in it which i thought was weird since i thought it was suppose to be liquids without any lumps. I had a hard time eating it because it was so thick! It didn't hurt or anything maybe cause i had so much pain meds I didn't even notice. I'm still trying to find a Protein shake that I like. chocolate gets old so i bought some vanilla and blended up some strawberry's and bananas. I suppose i can live on shakes like that for the next week or so.

    1/13/14 take 3!

It seems to be. This morning when i had some yogurt, there was a little pain/pressure. I just think its because everything is still so swollen and once the swelling go down I'll be fine. Right now Water and Clear Liquids like broth and apple juice is no problem. Just things that are thicker is giving me that feeling. So far I haven't had any dry mouth. I just try to sip on water all day to make sure I stay hydrated.
  3. I haven't been hungry at all. I try to make myself drink something every couple hours. Gas is not a problem and my family is just glad its all air for now! I guess I always over worry about things! I'm worried that there is a blockage or I might have a leak, but everything checked out fine. I guess i just need to relax and let myself heal.
  4. Thanks, I hope so. I think its just swollen. Clear liquids seem to do down with no problems but it seems if it is thicker like protein shakes and yogurt it feels stuck. I'll give it a couple days and see how it goes and if it still feels stuck I'll give my doctor a call.

    1/13/14 take 3!

I came home on Wednesday after 2 nights in the hospital too. Feeling pretty good, pain is minimal. I do get a strange feeling when I drink my Protein shake, or have anything. It's like a stuck feeling like i had with my band. I'm thinking my sleeve is swollen a bit and will be like that until the swelling goes down. I know there's no blockage or leaks because my swallow test came back fine. Not sure if it is normal to feel this but its annoying.

How long to take off work?

From what I've seen about 20% of bands slip. My doctor had said the sleeve has smaller incisions. With the lap band you have to make the port incision a little bigger to accommodate the band and port going through the incision. With the sleeve the incisions can be smaller since the portion of the stomach coming out can go through a smaller hole. He also said the common term with the sleeve is "Sleeve them and leave them". Sounds cold but it means there is less follow up with the sleeve than with the band. I was constantly thinking my band had slipped ( which it did twice) going in for fills and unfills and all that.Plus when i would bend over i could feel the port move or feel like it flips a bit. Kinda hard to describe what i feel, I just know it felt weird. Also now when i do get down to my goal weight, I didn't want where the port is showing this bump. With the sleeve you pretty much sleeve them then that's it. Just your follow up appointments and that's it. My doctor doesn't do much banding anymore, unless a persons insurance won't cover the sleeve and he hopes he doesn't have to do anymore bypasses with all the malabsortion and other problems that it causes. But each person has their reasons for doing the weight loss surgery they chose. Good Luck with your band. You'll do just fine with it!

How Much Do You Think Your Bazoombas Weigh?

LOL!!! I saw an episode of my strange addictions where this gal was addicted to her breasts. She was a 34B then had 22 surgeries all the way up to a 36KKK. She went on to get them enlarged to 38MMM!!! She had to go to Brazil to get it done since no US doctor would it. She thought they weren't big enough as a KKK!! When her "girls" were a KKK they weighed about 14lbs each! But that is with silicone/saline in each boob and probably weigh more than real boobs. So you're probably carrying around about 10lbs in each gazonga!

    band to sleeve

I go in tomorrow to remove my band and revise to the sleeve. My band has slipped once and the dr went in and repositioned it. Well it slipped and the dr says it needs to come out cuz it will probably slip again if he repositions it a second time. So out comes the band and now time for the sleeve. My dr is also going to do the removal and conversion all in one surgery, pending no complications! Good Luck on your surgery!

How long to take off work?

Not sure how old you are but I'm 42 and I took a week off from work.( i sit at a desk!) I have to go through a medical review before my company lets me come back to work My doctor had to fax papers to our company doctors to review then let me know when it was ok. So I was off about 2 weeks. I'm going in for tomorrow to have my lap band removed and revise it to the gastric sleeve because my band has slipped twice in the last 2 1/2 years. Once it slips the chances of it slipping again is high so be careful and follow your doctors orders on eating. Small bites, chew really really well and it is a tool not a miracle worker! Good Luck!

    1/13/14 take 3!

I'm going in tomorrow too! I've had my band since June 2011. I did great the first year going from 234 to 168, then I slipped. I gained ab I went in Oct 2012 and my doctor unbuckled my band to let my stomach heal. Then he went in and repositioned it January 2013. I had gained 25lbs in that short time. I was then having problems again and found out it slipped again.I had only lost about 15lbs from January 2013 to Oct 2013. He said it's best it comes out because if he repositions it again, the chances it will slip again is high. I was 193 in January of 2013 and now I'm 185.So I decided to revise it to the sleeve. I am nervous, excited, anxious, apprehensive, worried and all those other feelings. I guess that is normal and if I didn't have those feelings I'm not human! Good Luck tomorrow! I'll be right there with you!

    Drainage from my Port Incision

I had some drainage from my port incision. It was kinda yellowish clear. I went to the dr and he said it was a seroma. He put me on keflex since my incision hadn't closed up all the way. He was worried about infection. He also had me put neosporin on it too. Within a week or so, it healed up and the leakage stopped. It wouldn't hurt to have your doctor look at it. It sounds like a seroma.

    Looking for June 2011 Bandits!

I was banded on the 13th too! So far my recovery is going good. I haven't had much pain or gas pain. My steri strips are starting to fall off and boy is my belly button has a nice bruise around it from a major incision above it. So far no nausea or throwing up but I have been real good with my liquid diet and havent tried to eat anything i'm not suppose to yet. For first few days I wasn't hungry but now that I'm healing soups and protein shakes arent cutting it, but I will be a good girl and follow the liquid diet for another week! Hope yours is going good too !

    Looking for June 2011 Bandits!

I'm 3 days post op ( had mine done on monday ). Surgery was a breeze, although I started wreching in recovery and in my room and the doc was quick with the anti nausea meds. I got a lot of pepcid, anti nausea, antibiotics and pain meds. Actually only 1-2 doses of pain meds, the pain didn't seem that bad to me, but then again I think i have a pretty high pain tolerance. So don't be afraid to ask for the pain meds! So far my recovery has been fairly easy. The first night at home I slept on my recliner and then in my own bed last night. Each day the pain gets better and better. I have had very little gas pains. Mine has felt like a burp that i cant get up. farting  helps get the excess gas out. So fart away!!! Just get all the info you can! Your concerns are valid because we all had them! I know I did! Good luck! Let us know how every thing is going!

    Any june 2011 Banders???

Good Luck! I'm 2 days post op and the pain isn't too bad. Feels more like sore muscles than anything to me. I haven't had much gas pain, to me it feels more like a burp that got stuck then goes away. Good luck tomorrow! Everything will go great!

    Any june 2011 Banders???

Just got home a few hours ago. Feeling pretty good. I don't have much pain but just uncomfortable. I will probably end up sleeping on my recliner for a couple nights. Good luck to everyone!

    Any june 2011 Banders???

Today is the day! I'm nervous excited, anxious, apprehensive all in one. I'm just wondering if I'm making the right decision on being banded. I know that it's probably best for me but just nervous about it. I know if a guy that I work with that weighed about 300-350 can be banded and do the whole life afterwards and now weighs about 190-220, I can do it too. Wish me luck and I will keep everyone updated on my progress. Good luck to all the other June banders!
