Almost 2 Years, No Weight Loss
CheckYes replied to Nadine.Carr.PhD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest food journaling for a couple of weeks then consulting with a nutritionist. I think if you are journaling everything then you can get an idea of what nutrients you might be missing and where you might have overages. Best wishes! -
No but I feel no hunger at all - even in the morning. I could probably eat more at each meal but I'm sticking to my doctor's orders.
-
Different surgeons have different rules. The important thing is to follow YOUR surgeon's rules. I was banded on December 9 and eat 3 meals of 1/4 cup each day plus two protein shakes. I'm slowly increasing to 1/2 cup per meal by January 4.

The scale just keeps going down and down.

You're my idol Lance! I'd love to do this without the hassle of a fill! -
Location? Anthem Ins? Dr. McKeen?

I'm in Sacramento. Never heard of that doctor though! -
Thanks Fran! I will check that out.

I'm on 1/4 cup of mushies three times a day plus two protein shakes. My mushies are either egg, tuna, meatless meatballs or crab cake.
-
Optimum Nutrition also makes a good soy protein. I'm vegetarian and tried to find an organic humane whey protein but the one I found messed with my tummy. Spirutein is also yummy with several flavors but the carb count was higher than my doc allows. I hope you find something that works for you. Best wishes!

My surgeon said advil was a big no no because it's ibuprofen. I had that same headache that tylenol couldn't touch. What helped me was a small glass of no sugar added apple juice. Saved my poor head two days in a row.

Oopsie, I ate way too much after 2 weeks..
CheckYes replied to Arleen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Arleen, Didn't you post yesterday about eating too much at two weeks post op? So is this two days in a row that you disobeyed your doctors orders? A one time goof might not hurt but doing it continuously will. Be careful. -
Couple post op questions

I hear making the shakes really cold helps. Good luck. You need protein to aid healing. -
Good luck!

When is your surgery?
-
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that itngoea smoothly. Good luck! Are you staying in the hospital until the surgery?

Yahooooooo! Good for you! -
Holy Toledo! Wow. What kind of blockage? How did it get there? Is it a band installation problem?
-
Dr. refuses to fill me!!!

I agree with those who say trust your doc. Why would a surgeon who performs banding want you to fail? He'd want you to succeed. If you a white-knuckling it and are constantly hungry then tell him so. If not, stay where you are. I personally and hoping I never need an fill. -
Arleen, Lesson learned? I'm two weeks post op and I know my newly banded tummy couldn't handle sandwich or chips. Sounds like a lot of people here can't tolerate bread. You might fit into that category. Move on from this and use it as motivation to stay on track. Best wishes!

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
CheckYes replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Monkey, I'm two weeks post op today and I'm only eating 1/4 cup of mushies at each meal plus two protein shakes a day. I'm not at all hungry since surgery so it's been easy. My doc told me to use the lack of hunger to my advantage. Next week I am supposed to increase to 1/3 of a cup and the following week increase to 1/2 of a cup. Maybe using a calorie tracker would be a good thing? I'm generally around 500 calories (even though I'm doing low sugar and low fat). -
How did everyone else do?
-
Mine are still on. I am two weeks post op today. I want them off so badly. My doc says I can't take them off under any circumstance. Waaaahhhh.

What's on my mind...
CheckYes replied to peprmentpati's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rebecca, For heavens sake - give yourself a break!! You've done so amazingly well. Be gentle on yourself! Celebrate your wonderful success to date and give it some time. I'm two weeks post op today and ditched my scale. It was the first thing I would think of when I woke up and I didn't want to continue that. Maybe consider ditching it for a week or two? -

Hi, I can't seem to get more than 500 calories in each day. That's with my three 1/4 cup meals and two protein shakes. My soy protein, which I mix with water, only has 120 calories per scoop. -
Call your doc and tell them about everything. I wonder if you've had an allergic reaction. Maybe you can go to the surgery center and have a patch put on?
