I have a feeling it could be the sodium in the chicken broth. Don't panic. Weight can sometimes even fluctuate by three pounds a day! The scale will start moving again. [quote name=bthomson' timestamp='1294668986' post='1557792] I was banded on Dec. 29th. I've lost 24 pounds so far, but have not lost an ounce in 5 days. In fact, today I gained one pound. That is very discouraging. I have eaten broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popcicles, and lots of Water. Last evening I make pizza soup....the onion, garlic, pepper, and mushroom were blended in the "Magic Bullet". The base is tomato juice and fat free chicken broth. I added to my 1 cup portion, 1/4 cup fat free mozzerella cheese. Delicious! However, I gained one pound today. I have begun walking (something I have never done before). Yesterday, I took two walks. Any suggestions why this is happening?

Maybe bump up the amount you eat at dinner slightly? Make sure it is something that will keep your tummy full a bit better.

for those that have lost ALOT of weight, what are you going to do about the extra skin?
CheckYes replied to grmadeb01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons office does skin tightening with a laser. I wouldn't really go for this BUT I have a tiny friend who had twins and had it done on her tummy area. She was beyond thrilled with the results. She actually teaches aerobics and tried everything but the laser treatment worked. -
Bras and Panties......

Hahah! It might be strange but it's good! Better than having to drag them behind you! -
What do you dip? First meal?
CheckYes replied to imagine923's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May I suggest that now is the time to make really healthy choices? If you realize you can eat a purée taco or chili dog, it might become a more frequent part of your diet - that will be really rough before you get restriction. It is just my suggestion and if you can eat a chili dog and not want another one the next day then just ignore me! I am staying far away from foods that I crave because I want to try to stop that craving cycle. -
Wonderful! Excited for you guys. Today is my one month anniversary of being banded and I've lost a total of 25 pounds in that month!

Weight Watchers help
CheckYes replied to disneymom1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must have misread your post above that said "things you can't have on Weight Watchers like carbs.". That's why I asked. -
Me too but for me it is my hands. I'm drinking more than my share of water but my fingers feel like I've dipped them in talc! I'm just increasing my lotion and rubbing cuticle oil on my fingertips!

I was NOT one of those people with restriction right after surgery.
CheckYes replied to anewbeckiboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon advised that it should take me a half hour to eat my meal. I'm on 1/2 cup per meal right now. I eat really slowly and I'm wondering if that is why I don't have that feeling that I could eat eat and eat. I do not know how much I can eat because I have never pushed the 1/2 cup guideline for the diet stage I am in. Also, I'm told eating and drinking at the same time decreases the level of "fullness" one will feel after eating. May I suggest really slowing down when eating? Give your tummy a chance to tell your brain that you've eaten enough. I know I am in a lucky place with my lack of hunger but I thought I would share what seems to be working for me. Best wishes, -

I am totally with you on this. Could not have said it better. -
Is it normal to feel this way?
CheckYes replied to kirbymom02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone posted something I really loved about the time period before the diet fill: basically, your band is in but it hasn't been turned on yet. Be patient. It may take several fills before you feel restriction. Until then, you need to police yourself. -
If you think you can ever stop dieting - you are fooling yourself
CheckYes replied to longlegsally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is YOUR experience and may not be true for others. I, for one, am not fooling myself. -

chest pain sign of fullness?
CheckYes replied to janepur's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suspect it is gas rather than "full". -
Are you allowed protein shakes? My clear liquid diet includes protein shakes. They helped with hunger.

Lap Band Bible for Newbies
CheckYes replied to cheryl2586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I appreciate the time you took to put this all in one place but I would say the golden rule is to ask your surgeon these things. The above may be your personal experience but the title of the post makes it sound like a universal experience which we know is not generally the case. -
Incision ?'s
CheckYes replied to livelovelaugh1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. The question was asked if the site could be infected. How is that not asking people to make that determination?! -
It gets better every day! I didn't need any pain meds starting day 2 post op - not even Tylenol. Stay positive and you will do really well.

I love the iPhone app called LoseIt! It's so easy to use and it can also be accessed via Internet browser.

CheckYes replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its probably purée but you should probably have your surgeon email you a copy. -
Someone else on this board mentioned that the port area can be sore for three months or so.

Can we use Slim Fast Low Carb shakes?
CheckYes replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm surprised that 80 of the 190 calories are from fat. -
I had no blood draw at the hospital before surgery. Perhaps they would have if they thought I was smoking.

How long of a wait for surgery date?
CheckYes replied to HungryMel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was selfpay. Went the orientation meeting in August. At the end of October they gave me a surgery date of December 9. I imagine it may have taken longer if insurance was involved. My surgeons office is a Bariatric Center of Excellence so she might be busier than others.
