  1. Yay! I think we are on the same track vickyd. I don't know if I feel restriction but I have no idea how much I can eat, to be honest. I have never pushed the limit of what my surgeon's diet allows. I'm at 1/2 - 3/4 cup per meal and feeling satisfied. No Snacks in between meals but I do have a Jello sugar free pudding at about 8:00 each night with some PB2 mixed in (YUM!). When you say you feel restriction - is it like a physical feeling of fullness when you eat or is it that you are finding you are satisfied with less? I'm so curious about how this is all working.
  2. You're my hero! Good for you. Posts like this give me a boost in the right direction!
  3. Hi there, I am so sorry to hear that you've been struggling. May I suggest something to you? Instead of finding an OA meeting, try food Addicts Anonymous. It helped me so much to understand my food issues. They also have a menu/meal plan of foods to eat and you report to your sponsor every day what you plan to eat for the day. I am not a religious person, so the references to God and a higher power were a bit too much for me to take but I know that for some people it was really a blessing. There were people in my meetings who had been in the program for 25 years and had maintained abstinence from their trigger foods. I wish you the best of luck. I think you can find an FAA meeting by visiting http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/
  4. I feel that there are people who are consistently rude or say the same thing over and over again in increasingly harsh ways. I also get really disheartened by people who tell a poster that they are not doing what they say they are doing which basically calls the OP a liar. I have recently found the "IGNORE USER" feature on this site. Once I get the few people who rub me the wrong way on ignore then I think this site will become a much better place for me. Just because you are on a message board doesn't mean you have to read what everyone says. For those that have been offended, I say put those people on ignore and don't leave this board. Most of the posts on the board and fabulously informative and helpful. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch...

    Banded on Monday...

Hi Mel, Sorry to hear you are having some trouble. Tylenol makes an adult liquid - I couldn't have even brought myself to THINK about taking a pill that early on. Also, perhaps if the Tylenol isn't doing enough for you - ask your doctor for some liquid Lortab or something stronger than tylenol to help. It does get better every day. You will feel like your old self in no time. I wish you all the best.
  6. Hi,

I have stuck 100% to my surgeon's orders which were 1/2c of food per meal. My calories seem to be in the 700-900 range on a daily basis. I haven't started exercising yet. If you want more detail about what I eat, just let me know... I'm happy to share what has worked for me.

  7. Could you eat first, exercise then enjoy your coffee as a reward for working out? I hate to be on the go when I have my coffee. I like to sit and have the cup warm my hands - it makes my morning!
  8. Good luck tomorrow guys! The recovery stage will fly by. Stay positive!
  9. Lancebijeaux is a user who is doing it. I'm trying too.

    FIBER

Benefiber is tasteless, odorless and gritless. You can add it to anything and not notice it at all. I haven't tried the drink mix but I would go with the flavorless one in case you dont like the flavored drink mix.
  11. Ever tried a spray tan? Maybe that might be a viable alternative.

    How Is This Possible

Hi there, Good choice on the lower sodium soup but I am wondering what your calorie count for the day was. Butter, creamer, peanut butter, salami and dressing may hve bumped you over your calorie budget for the day. Not four pounds worth but the salami is probably higher in sodium too. Maybe journal and nutrient count the day and see what you come up with. Best wishes!

decided to do the Atkins diet

It was more of an "agree to disagree" sigh. "Long suffering" was your characterization of it, not mine. We have had this disagreement before. You clearly you believe you are correct but chastise me and say my belief is illogical for feeling that I am correct. True, Atkins isn't just a fad because some people start it an fail at it. It's a fad for other reasons too. I never said Atkins wasn't something that people can stick to for life. I said in my "PERSONAL EXPERIENCE" everyone I know that has done Atkins ended up quitting Atkins and gaining back weight plus some. I'm sure someone out there can do it - just like people can eat healthfully for the rest of their lives - I just don't know anyone who has. I get that Atkins has worked for you. I am glad it has worked for you. I just feel that a diet that is 60% fat shouldn't be promoted as healthful. That is my personal opinion. That's all I have to say.

Gross, But I need to POOP

Do not force yourself to go - you could get a fissure which is the worst pain I have ever experienced. You've probably not eaten anything since surgery so don't need to have a bowel movement.

decided to do the Atkins diet

Fad: a temporary fashion, notion, manner of conduct, etc., especially one followed enthusiastically by a group. Diet: such a selection or a limitation on the amount a person eats for reducing weight In my personal experience, everyone I know did Atkins temporarily enthusiastically. All of them lost weight then gained it back plus some after they stopped Atkins which gives further credit to it being a temporary manner of conduct for all the people I know who did Atkins. Oh, and before anyone suggests otherwise - they were doing Atkins. Sure, they stopped doing Atkins but has anyone ever done Atkins forever?

Gross, But I need to POOP

Im allowed caffeine and it does the trick. I also use Benefiber daily which helps a lot.
  18. I use benefiber every day. I have IBS with wild swings from constipation to diarrhea. Benefiber helps normalize. My doctors first suggestion when I called thier office with this same problem was to increase my fluids. If that didn't work, take a stool softener - not a laxative.
  19. Same thing for me. It took about a month and now I can bend and twist and feel nothing. Don't worry it will get better.

    Sleeping with the band

I was back to sleeping on my tummy on day 3 post op. I think being able to sleep well really helped with my recovery time.
  21. Its California law now that chain restaurants put the calorie count on their menu or make it available on the table. I don't think that applies to fast food chains but I think they make the info available.
  22. Can you add benefiber to your daily regimen? It dissolves in liquid - no flavor - no grit. I love it and it helps. I had IBS pre surgery which has all but disappeared now.

    Having sleep ssues

If your surgeon put fluid in your band at the time of surety you might want to ask to have it removed. That would help.

    Changing Goal Weight????

I set my goal weight at the high end of normal BMI. For me, at 5'2, that means 134 pounds. I figure anything above that I would still be overweight.
