  1. I used baby utensils after banding and I feel like it helped me learn what size bites to take. I filled up the baby spoon halfway each time I took a bite. I found them to be really helpful.

Good for you! You're going to be ok. Try not to stress. This liquid diet may give you a jump start on your weight loss so try to Celebrate that you are already working towards your goal.
  3. The ounces to cup measurement you have here is for liquids, not solids. Various solids have different weights. For example, 4 ounces of cornflakes will be a lot more than 1/2 cup of cornflakes if you put them into a measuring cup. Something really heavy, perhaps like steak, 4 ounces of steak may end up being 1/3 of a cup if you stuffed it into a measuring cup. I can guarantee you that 2 cups of cornflakes does not weigh one pound. Did I explain that ok or did I confuse you more?

I wonder if it is the fill and not the pills?

I bet they have their nutritional information online.
  6. Hey dont count me out yet! I am sure I will have to go through that at some point - just hoping not to have to.
  7. My calorie budget goes down when I lose weight. I'm wondering if their calories budget is solely based on weight or do you input other numbers that might affect it? My calorie budget right now is 1365 and I weigh 218 pounds.
  8. Oh I'm so dumb. Spirutein is soy. I totally ignored the whey part of your question. Sorry!
  9. Have you ever tried Spirutein? They have tons of flavors and you can usually get them in individual packets to try before buying a whole tub. If you have a trader joes, whole foods or natural foods store near you - you can get them there. I am sure they sell them other places but I don't know if you can get them at most regular grocery stores or not.
  10. For my evening snack:

One Jello sugar free pudding (Dulce de Leche flavor)

1 Tablespoon of powdered peanut butter (PB2)

    Thats my day.

I find most of my meals consist of a protein of about 150 calories or so and a veggie. I'm on out the door early on Tuesdays so I portion out my cheese in advance and eat it on the way.

  11. Sure.

I'm vegetarian (but eat fish) so I don't eat any meat products at all.

    On Tuesday, I ate:

    Breakfast:

One cup of coffee with a tablespoon of sugar free vanilla caramel creamer

2 ounces of Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Cheese

    Lunch:

1 Amy's Texas Veggie Burger Patty (plain, no bun or anything)

    1 medium Kiwi

    streached pouch

You need to be careful of your stitches that are inside there. Someone posted that every time you eat solid food your stomach contracts. Be careful. I seriously doubt one time has done any damage. Move on and stick to your surgeons orders. You can do it!
  13. Try Starbucks next time. I wouldn't waste a treat I earned at a convenience store! You've earned that treat - get the best you can!

Sounds like you are doing what you need to do and feeling good! Good for you! Keep up the good work.
  15. I'm getting between 700-900 calories a day. I haven't started exercising yet.
  16. I know for a fact that I have no Fluid in my band. My surgeons office is a Center of Excellence and specializes in only WLS. I am guessing that you wonder about that because some surgeons are now adding fill during surgery? I dont know if the majority are doing it that way now or not.
  17. I got teary too but it was the best decision for me. It is totally normal to be nervous and its ok to have some emotions about what is going on. Just remember to breathe. You will be ok.

    New Pain

Chest pain and pain when breathing should not be taken lightly. I think another call to your surgeon is warranted. Keep us posted.

    Two days into post op

It gets better every day. It really does. I also think you should put the scale away. The pump you full of saline on your surgery day. A gain is normal. It will happen. Don't despair just be patient.
  20. I really think it would be worth it to see a dietician who knows Lapband. I was selfpay and my surgeon requires three meetings with the dietician.
  21. I responded to your post yesterday too. Maybe check the other thread.

    Protein bar of choice

Check out Bariatriceating.com. They may have some options or some reviews of different bars. I like thinkthin bars but only in an emergency when I am caught without having been able to prepare something else. I keep one in my backpack just in case.
  23. My heros are of my choosing for whatever reason I want. Also, obviously it CAN be used effectively without having fills as evidenced by the people here who haven't had fills and are losing. Either way, I have seen many people struggle after fills and it scares me to think of getting one. I'm not against fills because I think willpower is the way to go. Even after fills, willpower is still required to make the right food choices and to exercise.
  24. I had never actually realized this until you posted this. I had a similar feeling on the skin near my incisions. It kind of felt like the skin was a bit sensitive to the touch - not hot or warm - but when my clothing grazed it, it was, not exactly painful, but more irritating than anything. The sensitivity wasn't localized to the exact incision sites but more generalized with maybe a two or three inch diameter around each incision. My incisions weren't infected or anything and everything healed very well. I started putting a bit of baby oil on my tummy and it seemed to help. I noticed it was worse when I wore a tanktop under my shirt - like it was almost too much sensory contact for me to handle. It didn't last for long - maybe a week and then it was gone. I don't feel anything like that anymore. I hope it goes away soon. However, I would agree with the other posters - check in with your surgeon.
