I like ThinkThin bars. They have zero sugar and are gluten free and each is about 200 calories depending on the flavor. My personal preference on flavor is the tangerine cremesicle which tastes like an orangesicle or the chocolate mudslide. I buy them at Whole Foods but I think you can get them at Trader Joes and perhaps other health food stores. I only eat them as a last resort - meaning I have one in my backpack but I won't take it as a planned meal, it is only if I start to feel foggy or weak that I will eat it. I prefer to get my Protein from actual meals rather than bars. http://www.thinkproducts.com/2011/

Pear shaped body and extreme weight loss
CheckYes replied to hiddnstar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Star, There is a plastic surgery forum on this site at http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/8-cosmetic-and-reconstructive-surgery/ If you don't get any answers here, you might want to repost your comment in there. I don't know anything about plastic surgery but I do know that my surgeon set my final goal weight for the high end of normal BMI. I kind of feel like you might not know what you actual body type is until the weight goes. Perhaps you might change from pear to, oh i don't know, celery stick? -
Fatigue at 10 months out
CheckYes replied to hiddnstar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just going to say the same thing. I will add that some people don't absorb B12 well (which I think is the energy and metabolism boosting B vitamin). I would suggest a sublingual b12 that dissolves under your tongue. I heard this is the best way to get it to absorb. They sell them at CVS and various places. I'd like to know if you see a noticeable difference. If you do add B12 or a B complex, would you come back and post to let us know? Best wishes. -
I like the Target brand packets to mix in my water bottle. Some of the flavors are amazing... Cherry limeade, tangerine strawberry and grape are my favorites. They also have lime margarita, strawberry orange banana and fruit punch. They are delicious. I always have one in my pocket or backpack.

I guess I'm a stress eater.....
CheckYes replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally think that identifying it is the hardest and biggest step. You just need to acquire that moment between the stress and the eating where you can recognize the "why" part. You are more than half way there. Sorry to hear you had some sad news about your brother. Best wishes. -
It will be under the skin. When you lose weight you might see a bulge under your skin but it isn't visible really. Ask your doctor to install a low profile port.

when do they remove the surgical tape?
CheckYes replied to Pammy S Lewis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink coffee every day. One cup of regular and one cup of decaf. -

I also was able to shower the next day. -
when do they remove the surgical tape?
CheckYes replied to Pammy S Lewis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine fell off in it's own after about four weeks. When it itched I rubbed a tiny amount if baby oil around it and that helped. -
Hang in there Laura! In the meantime, try hard to select healthy filling foods. Sometimes I drink a bottle of water and it helps. Plus, it puts me off eating for 30min since that's my doctors orders for how long I have to wait after drinking. Good luck!

Could the problem be with where your surgeon placed the band instead of a defect? I wonder if it is placed in the wrong position - perhaps too high or too low. Can you get a second opinion? Best wishes to you both.

Am I drinking to much Water
CheckYes replied to sunshawnloc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink 80 ounces of water a day. I was banded 12/9 and haven't had a fill yet. I can guzzle too. I don't think there is any harm so long as your post op swelling has gone down. By the way, did you see the recent post in pseudotumor celebri? If you didn't, do a search. You may find some other bandsters with this condition and could give/get some support. Best wishes to you. -
Can you feel/see your port?
CheckYes replied to FeelingGroovy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc uses low profile ports as a general rule. I am too scared to try to feel it under my skin - I think it might freak me out! I definitely can't see it but I still have 70 pounds to lose. -
Pain isn't really something to laugh at ... I don't have port pain but I could see that if you are recently banded that it might be sensitive to temperature perhaps?

18 Days Post Op- HELP
CheckYes replied to CincyUdy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was on 1/4 cup of food three times a day plus unlimited sugar free Popsicles at that stage. I was working on increasing to 1/3. -
I am at CVS right now. Their generic brand is available.
-
I miss her too. She is a calm voice of reason when things get feisty.

I just bought at CVS a b complex that was labelled as a smaller size pill and it is small! The brand, I think, is Nature Made. It had a yellow cap and is a brown bottle. The label specifically says it is a new small size pill. They were buy one get one free when I got them and reasonably priced to begin with.

Weight Loss after Surgery
CheckYes replied to stevenjoec's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're doing fine. Your body us probably getting rid of all the stuff they pumped into you through your IV plus more. Don't worry... It can come off really quick but I suspect you'll level off in two weeks or so. Best wishes! -
Previous gastric bypass surgery
CheckYes replied to leblancdam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't take this the wrong way but have you considered therapy? I firmly believe it is helping me immensely. Also, if you identify as a food addict maybe consider Food Addicts Anonymous. Www.foodaddictanonymous.org Best wishes to you.. -

one less bad food on my list!
CheckYes replied to Pinkygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Jenn, I personally didn't read anything in the post that indicated this was a one time event. In fact, the OP said she loves the wraps and got one that morning. That to me indicated (and perhaps to Spartan) that this is a choice she makes frequently but now won't make that choice because she had a stuck episode - it isn't that she decided to never have one again because they are unhealthy. I'm not defending Spartan nor judging his/her comment. I'm just pointing out that I read the original post the same way. I think open dialog is a good thing and when you post on a forum, you should expect to receive the gamut of responses. I don't think suggesting someone makes awful comments is really fair or non-judging. You said in your post that judging is not your place. With all due respect, I just think it is a matter of practicing what you preach. -
Weight gain-is it normal?
CheckYes replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends how much saline they run through your IV during surgery. I have heard some people gain much more than that and some people don't gain anything. Don't worry and please don't worry if you don't lose much in the initial post op stages. It WILL happen for you. Just do everything your surgeon tells you to do and you will rock this band! -
Revision went well
CheckYes replied to TracyNYC's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So glad it went well. It sounds like you've got all the tools in place that you need. I'd use that supportive boyfriend to help you out as much as possible. Sounds like you are in a good place with him regarding your food issues (I know I tend to avoid talking about my own) so I think you've got some good support there. Best wishes. Maybe a new band is just what you needed to kind of turn over a new leaf. The great thing is, based on what I can tell in your ticker, you aren't starting where you once were so you are WAY ahead of the game already!
