    Taking pills with food?

If the pill is a must, I would get it down first then eat.

    affraid to get a fill

I haven't had a fill yet but I didn't plan in that way. I just don't need one yet. I don't see the point in getting the band knowing you will not ever get a fill. It is most likely by enough to do the trick long term but it could be. Reverie is close to goal with no fill. Im down 58 pounds in four month with no fill. There are several others in the same spot but it doesn't appear to be anything but a small minority. Im also afraid of a fill and am so glad I don't feel like I need one because it would be a dilemma for me. Seems like the fills are ok unless you become too tight. The great thing is that it is adjustable and if you have too much fill it can be easily removed.
  3. Whoever said a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step was right. It isn't too late. Get back on the wagon right this moment. Follow your plan. You can do this!

Noooo. I've lost 58 pounds in four months. Onederland means I weigh under 200 pounds!

    no fill, normal?

I'm four months out too and no fill. I don't feel like I need one plus I'm scared to get one and have difficulty with it.

    swallowing pills

I use chewable Centrum too. I can't do gummy because I am vegetarian but the Centrum are the best tasting and I have tried them all. I also take a smaller B complex and a sublingual B12. I can swollen Tylenol rapid release without any problems.
  10. I didn't have much pain either. I used two doses or Liquid Lortab and two doses of Tylenol and didn't need any further pain meds. I did feel like I had been kicked around a bit but was able to sleep on my tummy on day 3. Took a bit longer to be able to bend over comfortably but it wasn't painful.

    Wtf

How many calories are you eating? Are you eating primarily lean Protein and veggies? I journal my food intake almost obsessively. If you just do it for a week (if you aren't already), you may get an idea of what nutrients you are either missing or perhaps having too much of. I also started talking Vitamins which helped boost my loss. I know it is frustrating. Stick with it though... it WILL pay off.
  14. Could it be something you are eating? I know that for me some stuff doesn't taste the same way it used to. I hope you get a response from someone who has experienced the same thing and knows why!

    5 stages of grief

You guys! I remember the early stages and how alone it feels. It gets better every day. You will be able to enjoy dinners with your husband and you will enjoy food again. Hang in there!
  16. I agree with Jess55. There are vastly different recommendations by surgeons. Call and get it from your surgeon. It's the best thing to do to be safe.

    chewing food till liquid

I don't have any fill and I could probably chew normally but I do try to take smaller bites and chew a couple times extra. Never had anything stuck.

    5 stages of grief

I know I was surprised at what emotions I had when I wasn't able to use food to stuff them back down. It's normal to have feelings about what you have done. Just be gentle with yourself and try not to judge yourself. We are our own worst critics.
  19. I guess he's trying to get you on no carb. I think the body uses carbs first for energy then turns to fat stores for energy. I could be totally wrong on the science of it. It's kind of like how the Atkins diet works (I think). Before anyone jumps on me to defend Atkins - I am not saying this meal plan is Atkins - Atkins allows carbs.
  20. This is such a helpful post for newbies. Thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts down and share.
  21. I am sure you burn more than 700 calories a day. You probably burn that amount sleeping for eight hours. Do you mean you are burning when you exercise?
  22. Woah woah woah.... Give yourself a break here. You have lost 35 pounds. That would be a noticeable difference. Aren't you happy that you can say you used to weigh 35 pounds more? The GREAT news is that you have already taken a step to make the change. You've already done the surgery, recovered, started learning how to use your band. Be happy with the spot you are in now. I know it is hard to want things to move faster - to be done rather than in the middle. You ARE in the middle though. You AREN'T at the beginning. You've started your journey. I see pictures of myself now and think "Ugh" but then I remember that exactly four months ago, I weighed 58 pounds more than I do at this moment. I am in Onederland now and you will be soon too. I also think you should allow yourself to feel however you feel about this. I know I had some ups and downs after surgery and during recovery but I think its ok. It's amazing what came out when I didn't have food to stuff it back down. I don't know if you were/are a comfort eater or emotional eater but I know I sure was. I have a feeling you are going to do great. Good luck with your fill. Best wishes to you!

    Starting solid food to early!!

I agree with Melissannde. If your doctor has a plan for you other than what you are on now - go back to it. What your surgeon says to do is the most important. As long as you didn't eat something crazy at this stage, you probably didn't do any damage. Just do your best to stick to your surgeon's plan.

    Pain.... Stomach pains

Hey there, We started at exactly the same weight on our surgery date. We should keep in touch. Because you were just banded, you may have some restriction due to swelling from the surgery itself. Some surgeons put Fluid in the band at the time of surgery - mine didn't - but some do. If you can't keep water down, you probably have some fill. You might want to check with your surgeon but at this point, you should sip once every few minutes. I think the goal for me was to drink 6-8 ounces of water an hour. If I remember correctly, the Protein shakes took forever to drink because they were a bit thicker. I didn't finish a shake in one sitting until about day 5. You just need to try to do your best. I think your port area may be hurting because of the actual surgery. Your port may be directly behind your largest incision so if it is not on the incision level but behind then it could be because your port is stitched to your muscle and that takes a while to heal. As for the hunger pains - you must follow your surgeons meal plan. Don't advance to mushies without approval. Try to drink your protein. If you are allowed sugar free popsicles - they made me feel like I was "eating" something rather than drinking and it helped. I held a bit in my mouth until it was totally liquid and then swallowed. I wish you the best of luck. Hope recovery becomes a breeze for you.
  25. I didn't know that either! Great news! You should be really proud of yourself! Woooooohoooooooo
