Best Weight-Loss Diets
CheckYes replied to NewStart95987's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd say the best "diet" for me has been therapy + following my surgeons orders! -
Oh no...banded March 22 and I am pregnant.
CheckYes replied to Stacey5267's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will most likely have your band emptied at your next appointment. I don't know of any surgeons that would leave Fluid in your band while pregnant. Congratulations to you on your pregnancy! -
Recommendations for am ELECTRONIC SCALE?
CheckYes replied to lifeisjustbeginning2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FABULOUS! I love love love my Withings Wifi scale. It's so easy and on days where I'm feeling like I'm worried about what the scale will say, I just don't look at it. -
When will my swollen tummy go down
CheckYes replied to NanaCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like I had a basketball in my stomach for at least a week after surgery. It went down slowly after that but it was uncomfortable although I didn't have gas pain. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
CheckYes replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the 170s! I can't believe it! Heather, your comment about being the weight on your driver's license made me laugh. I just realized that I weigh less than I did when I graduated from high school 22 long years ago. Wow! I still have almost 30 pounds to get to my driver's license weight - which I never ever actually weighed! Don't know how I thought I was getting away with putting 150 on there! -
How long did you have to wait...
CheckYes replied to sassyfrass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was selfpay (so insurance would have been a longer wait) and my orientation meeting was August 2 and surgery was December 9. -
How about Survivor by Cristina Aguilera? Wait... It might be called "FIghter".

Tough Time Sitting/Driving After Band
CheckYes replied to vanessap123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vanessa, Sounds like you are doing much better than most people do after surgery! Your body has been cut and stitched around your abdomen so of course it's going to be tender for a bit. It took me about three weeks to be able to just plop myself down on the sofa. So give it a bit more time - it will go away - I'm sure of it. Good for you for getting back into the swing of things so fast! -

Does behavior modification mean exercising? If so, maybe join a gym and present that information to him as evidence of your commitment. -

Husband hurt my feelings....
CheckYes replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand it upset you deeply. I just don't understand how you can be upset at his comment then post about how he needs to "get off his butt and lose 50 lbs." It's hypocritical to be angry that he made a comment about your weight and then turn around and make a comment about his. You may not have said it to his face, sure, but you've said it behind his back here. I don't know which is worse. I wish you had more support from your husband. I suspect it might be a two way street based on this thread. Have you considered counseling to help address and discuss your needs from him? Some people never get back what they put into a relationship - you may never get what you need from him but, if you have kids, counseling is worth a try. I wish you the best. -
Am I doing something Wrong?
CheckYes replied to Zimbo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would start tracking your calories. It doesn't seem like you are having too many calories per day. Maybe you need to be eating more? -
Did you want to be puking? Puking is so unhealthy for you and for your band, I can't imagine that puking would mean the band is working properly for you. It's hard to restrict yourself but you have to do it. I haven't had any fill and have lost 75 pounds. I've eaten properly EVERY SINGLE DAY since surgery and am at the gym everyday. If I can do this - you can do this - I swear. I never imagined I would be able to do it but instead of looking at the band as something to make me lose the weight, I am looking at it as the thing that is going to keep the weight off. So this time, I have hope whereas before the band I was done trying. I think you perhaps were hoping the band would work differently. Now that you know how it works for you - use it to your advantage. Get on track, track all your food and exercise. If you do that - a month from now, you WILL have lost weight. I promise. Best wishes to you!

I hear that less weight, more reps is the way to go. I wish I built muscle fast. Maybe build your muscle then just maintain it - especially if youve got the motivation right now!

Problems with the Midband

I've never heard of a midband. Going to google it. -
Posting Reality Check
CheckYes replied to LargeMediumSmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree with Dave and Reverie. I think it isn't anyone's place to try to explain the purpose of another person's post or reply. I don't think some of the so-called negative posts are intentionally meant to bring people down. I remember the thread about the lawyers and, as a lawyer, I can tell you that people don't generally come to me with medical malpractice issues unless they intend to sue. The response you were referring to is correct - we are a society of lawsuits these days. Sure, it wasn't said in the most positive way but it is a good indication of what a juror might think at trial and every person discussing a potential case with a lawyer should know those things. I just really think that trying to remind people to be positive, while a nice thought, really isn't your place. Especially on a public open forum. There are unhappy mean people everywhere - with computers - and lapbands! -
Losing weight sort of scary fast
CheckYes replied to roziecakes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you're going to have to change how you look at weight loss with the band. I say that because you've lost a pound a day for 9 days and you say you're "down ONLY 9lbs". You should lose 1 to 2 pounds a WEEK with the band. I say be thankful for every pound. -
Can you make shakes ahead of time?
CheckYes replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try it and see what happens! -

I love my Withings Wi-Fi scale. It logs my weight directly to my calorie tracking program wirelessly! -
It's been six months for me and I have no appetite. None. I have to force myself to eat.
