I am scheduled for surgery in 8 days. I was rejected at first due to not being fat enough for long enough although I have been over 225 for most than the past several years and haven't seen the underside of 200 in at least 8 years. I was approved after two sleep studies which showed I have sleep apnea in addition to asthma, INSANELY high triglycerides, a hiatal hernia, PCOS and high cholesterol. While I am excited and nervous, it is important to me to be aware of what is going on emotionally and to remember that this is just a tool to help me become healthy again and is not a miracle. There are many reasons I am fat and have struggled with weight for most of my life and if don't address those, I am afraid I will slip back into the habits and patterns of behaviour which have gotten me to where I am today. I have a wonderful, loving, supportive husband who loves the way I look now and doesn't care that I am fat but does want me to be healthy so we can enjoy long lives together.
