I thought there would have been more support in the New York City and surronding area. Come on New Yorker BANDERS, let's show our support for each other. I could use a support group at least one (1X per month). Any suggestions? Thank you... LYNN:help:

Two Days After Surgry & Hurting
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to Scorpio's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Scorpio, I remember the first few days after surgery, I could not lift myself out of bed or the couch. Everyone is different. I can definatly feel for you. As far as eating, I was on liquid for 2 weeks, which consisted of Protein drinks mixed with skim milk and banana that I blended in a blender and for the next 2 weeks, I had soft foods. I remember I tried to eat a carrot after 3 or 4 days, I got so sick and I was on vacation, my hubby called an ambulance. That was first experience of PB'ing...I don't touch carrots anymore. My suggestion is that you might want to speak to your surgeon or a dietician. You do not want to ruin the surgery/band. I wish you well in your recovery...LYNN -

Dr. Phil tomorrow with Sharon Osborne
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to Chris S. - L.I.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I watched Sharen Osborn and Dr. Phil...I was disappointed. She did not say why she wanted to have her band taken out. Although Dr. Phil did say, "it was NOT about the book" and it was about her book. -
I am from Brooklyn, NY too. Hello New Yorkers. Nice to meet you! Good Luck!

Lynn Band 9/06 replied to Chris S. - L.I.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What time is Dr. Phil on Eastern Standard time? Thanks a bunch! By the way my appointment was cancelled today. I was to have a fill and the surgeon had an emergency. :grouphug: -
Dr C question regarding Carbonation
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
He's my doctor and his nutritionist told me that it is empty calories but that you could have a diet soda occasionally that it wouldn't hurt anything. I'm not Dr. C and not a Doctor but that's what she told me. All I ever drank was diet soda, even before the band. Thanks for the info. I am going to dietician tomorrow. I am going to ask her Thanks <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> -

I was wondering the same thing. I have not had any soda, since surgery. -
Researching lap band...Doc. not supportive
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to maryrose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would say that HBP and high cholesterol would definately would be the co-morbidities and someone that is 100 lbs overweight would be a canditate for Lap Band surgery. May I suggest that you speak to someone at the "informational meeting" you went to last Tuesday, and maybe they can recommend a primary doctor you can speak to that can request your medical records from the doctor who is giving you a hard time. In other words, time to change your doctor. Good luck. -
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY MARK. Glad you are enjoy you band as well!

I have been having consitipation with pain. :faint: I have been having roughage such as salad and veggies cooked very softly. Has anyone had this and what do you do for it?
-
Jachut, When were you banded? In pounds how much did you weigh? I am curious. Thanks.
-
I was banded September 25, 2006 at a BMI of 37, I am 5'1" and prior to surgury I weighted 206. I am only down to 191.5. I definately believe that the higher BMI "you are" the faster you can lose. I also feel the more active you are the more it helps. Gee, I sit behind a desk 8 hours a day and I can make any excuse not to excercise!!! I go back for a 2nd fill this Thursday, December 14th hopefully my doctor will fill me some more, I have been having some problems with getting meats down. Do I say anything or not? I am thinking about not saying that to the doctor. I want more restriction. So this is my opinion on lower BMI. LYNN

question for everyone, please answer
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to prasman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor did it blind, first he fished around with his hands for the port then he used a numbing agent. There is an Ultra sound machine in the room and I did ask if he was going to use it he said he did not have to. -
My doc pefered 8wks before 1st fill, but......
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to AngelaT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc feels that 8 weeks was good as well. I was always hungry til had my first fill. Now I am going again on December 14, we will see if he will even fill it some more. I lost more weight and he might feel that this fill is enough for me. Honestly I would like to feel more of a restriction. -

new bandster with a question
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to dawnae's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The next day after surgery or after I left the hospital I walked almost a mile but for holding or reaching anything that was a task. I took me just about a week before I was able to do anything more drastic than walking. :omg: I wish well, let us know how it went with your surgery! GOOD LUCK! -
How much protein should i eat a day
Lynn Band 9/06 replied to lljpaisley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see a dietitian or nutritnist (spelling) everytime I see my surgeon I also speak to her on a regular basis, she said the right amount is between 40 - 45 grams per day for a woman. About 15 grams per meal. Eat your protein first, veggies, and carbs... -
I am Eastern Standard Time... I am usually in bed by 10 PM so if we can come to some sort of decision as far as times I am all for chat times before 10PM EST.
-
That would be good! Sounds like a plan Sherri.

Wish you all the best, I am certain everything will be great. You have a lot to look forward to. Do everything they tell you to do.
