Hey, my surgery is scheduled for Monday as well. I wasn't as good as I should have been either. I'm starving right now with the liquid diet; Crystal Light just isn't cutting it, but my doctor told me to keep it under 1000 calories. Geez, I could do that with solid food, but when you consider Protein powder and skim milk is 190 for an 8 oz. glass, it's tough! Earlier this week I bought a watermelon and didn't blend it first; it was heaven! Don't back out. What brought you to the point of wanting the surgery? Think back. For me, it was medications; it was not being able to cut my toe nails well and any tie shoes were just ruled out. I was having trouble wiping myself well enough--sorry, but it's true. With the 30 pounds I've lost pre op, the last three issues have gone away. Now I'm fantasizing about buying clothes off of the rack and not having to alter them. Keep your focus as to why you want this. I hope this helps. I'll check in as soon as I'm able. I'm nervous about the gas pain after. Oh well, it too, shall pass! Barb

Your most embarrassing fat moment (sad, funny, pathetic, turning points)
bsimoes replied to chameleon's topic in The Lounge
How awful. I am so sorry that people have to be so insensitive. I once decided that I would try walking to get exercise. On the second day, somebody yelled out of a car window something about being a fatass. I didn't walk again for about thirty years. I have started again this past January and so far there have been no rude comments. All the while I knew that it was his issue not mine--he was very heavy; much less than I was at the time! Still, it scarred me enough so that it took 30 years before I'd try it again. I'm so glad I did; it empowered me like nothing else could, and I'm losing weight to boot. In other words, get out there and date again. The weight sure rules out the losers, huh?! -
I had a question along the same line; I get why we aren't supposed to drink after eating, but why can't we drink before eating? It would seem that the liquid would funnel through before the food. Thanks for any explanations. Barb

Looking for a protein shake without artificial sweeteners

The website is wwwlmountainnaturals.com and the email is info@mountainnaturals.com. The phone is 1-800-992-8451 and their fax is 1-802-878-0549. It is a Vermont product. I just sampled it today. It's ok, but I found that is was pretty gloppy in skim milk. It didn't dissolve like I had hoped. Maybe I put too much in. Good luck; it sounds like we are pretty much in the same place in this procedure. I am getting ready to do my practice liquid diet. All the best; I hope the above info helps. Barb -

Believe it or not, I have never posted to anything before, so I wasn't sure how to go about it. This group seems very supportive and it looks like a great place to get information about the procedure. I just found out that there was such a thing as lap banding maybe three days ago. I had looked into gastric bypass a few years ago, but for some reason, they ended up turning me away. I was certainly heavy enough. Maybe I didn't have enough health issues yet. I am now on blood pressure medicine and have arthritis. Hopefully, now they will be satisfied. I really am getting excited by the prospect of maybe being able to cross my legs again! I have so many necklaces that I might be able to wear again, say nothing of clothes. I am curious about how long it took most people from the time of deciding that this is what they wanted to then actually having the procedure. Thanks for all of your help already.:Banane19: :help:

I'm still in the research stage!
bsimoes replied to bsimoes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks to everyone who responded. It sounds like insurance is the hold up. I have an appointment with my physician tomorrow so that he can then recommend me to the lap band specialist. Many people have talked about needing other visits to support groups, nutritionists and psychologists before much happens. Of course, I want this yesterday. Here's hoping for the fast track. -
Oh my gosh. Don't let the dress size get you down...100 lbs is a whole person. That's fantastic. I would worry about my skin not being able to keep up! B. Simoes
