  1. I am taking blood pressure medication and birth control pills. My pharmacist said it was ok to crush both of them but I'm a little weary about the birth control pills. Does anyone else who's had lap band crush their bcp's? The pharmacist said I could add the crushed pills to apple sauce. How does everyone else crush their pills and what food do you add them to? Thanks for your help. I'm having surgery next Friday, Oct. 15. Very excited!
  2. My nutritionist says to not drink any liquids 30 minutes before a meal, during a meal, or 30 minutes after. Is that how it is for everyone else too? I'm finding it very, very hard to not drink during or right after a meal. I'm only a week out of surgery so my meals are still consisting mostly of broth. I guess it's just going to take some getting used to. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?

    Not drinking while eating??

Thanks so much to everyone for their help. I'll definately try the suggestions and hopefully it will make it a little easier for me.
  4. Well, here it is........the day before the BIG day!! I'll find out this afternoon what time I have to arrive at the hospital tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it's early so I can get it over with. The process of getting Lap Band has gone so fast. It's hard to believe that I was just at the seminar 3 months ago! Time really does fly! I wanted to say Thank You to everyone for sharing their surgery stories and experiences. I think it's helped better prepare me, although I know nothing can fully prepare me for the surgery and the days after. But pretty soon I will have experienced it for myself. I been so calm and cool up til now! The nerves are starting to hit me this morning. This is really happening. But I look forward this journey. This is one battle I'm going to win!

I'm getting a little nervous too, but this time tomorrow, it'll all be over! Thanks to everyone for their support!

    tests before operation

I had my endoscopy last Wednesday and that was the end of all the testing I had to . I was a little sore in my chest a few days after, but other than that it was nothing. My doctor does a 2 weeks low carb diet two weeks prior to surgery and I start that on Monday. Good luck to you! You'll do just fine!

  13. I have my appointment with a psychiatrist on Monday. Can anyone tell what the appointment is about? Just want to be prepared! Thanks!
  14. Hi everyone! I'm just starting my LAP-BAND®® journey! I attended a seminar in July, had my consultation last week, having my nutritional consult next week, my psych eval the following week, and my endoscopy on Sept. 14. I guess after I get all of that done we'll work on the insurance approval and setting a date. I'm 30 years old and have about 100 lbs. to lose. I have a very supportive husband and family. A big "thank you" for everyone for sharing their LAP-BAND®® stories. It's really helped prepare me and understand the procedure and what to expect. I'm so looking forward to having LAP-BAND®® and and starting a new and healthier life.
