  1. I see a counsler and I attend OA(overeaters anonymous) a free program similar to AA(alcoholics anonymous) it just talks about our obsessions with food and everyone there is trying to figure out how to have a healthy relationship with food. It has helped alot!!! The counsler helps but it costs money. So whatever your budget you can get the help we need to fix our "heads"...... good luck....
  2. I am going on 4 weeks post op and have moved up to 4tbsp. of lean protien per meal and protien shakes in between, i am guessing he said that because he does not want you to become discouraged. i weigh one time a week as to not get discouraged and i have been loosing weight. so don't worry, it is a marathon not a sprint right? your doin' good, just stay on your plan. keep us posted!!
  3. I am a newbie, banded 9/23 this is what my doctor explained to me....wait 30min. before a meal as to not fill your pouch with liquid then the food intake you may become to "full" then wait 30min after so you can absorb the nutrients of your meal, then we can drink. i wouldn't guzzle or gulp water, i was told sips throughout the day too.. i just keep a bottle of water with me at all times and sip on it until 30 before meal time.....hope that helps a little..
  4. I am a new bandster....hocus, you and i had surgery the same day and I am also struggling with food, I didnt tell you anything i would not have wanted you to say to me if i had made that food choice 2 weeks post op. I myself go to counseling and OA to get the head help i need....that is why i suggested that to you....if i sounded harsh or rude or on my high horse it comes from a place of caring for a fellow september sweetie. please get the help you need to continue your band decision.
  5. :confused:I think eveyone who posted were enabling you to continue making poor food choices!!!!!!!!! This is your journey and if you want to continue doing what you are doing your welcome to do that! But, the band is not a weight loss cure and if you don't become friends with yourself and continue to compulsively overeat you are NOT going to find your journey a success!!!!! so STOP what you are doing with the food and start getting the "head" help you need! see a therapist or go to OA(overeaters anonymous)(free) and start today!!! Be good to yourself!

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

WannaBeHealthy....I posted something similar 2 weeks ago...after much trial and error...ie:gagging and whining....I now get all the pills in a shot glass, mix them with water, like 1/3 way up the shot glass and let them sit...and sit....and sit...until they are all a chalk like texture...i then get a sugar free popcicle ready...i shoot the pill water, cringe just a little, and suck on the popcicle which gets rid of the bitterness.....quite the process I know, but it works....good luck..

  9. Part of my lapband journey is OA (overeaters anonymous). There you will find people just like us. Trying to obstain from compulsive overeating, which clearly we all suffer from. There are people who have had different types of weight loss surgery who are aware that the old habits do return without a support system. Hope no one is offended but I just want all of us to be successful!!!!
  10. What the heck is sliming???? sounds like i don't want to experience that.....:smile2:
  11. I am so embarrassed to write this but is anyone experiencing loaded toots??? I have so much untrustworthy gas....surgery was thurs. I am still on liquids, and am not liking this....everyone seems to be constipated.....but not me!!!! help!!!

  14. yeah!!! SDG!! we are banders now!!!
  15. Hi Everyone!!! Had my surgery yesterday and it went perfectly!! I was sore as expected the gas-x strips work wonders and i found liquid adult tylenol at Walgreens and i am able to manage the pain with that. My biggest challenge so far is taking my pills(Rx) i have crushed them in water....YUCK!!!!! and tonight I tried to crush them in sugar free jello....double YUCK!!!!!!:smile2::thumbdown: any suggestions on how to crush the Rx and not have to taste the bitterness of it? Hope everyone else is doing well too....
  16. I am turning 40 on Saturday. I have been conquering my addicitons for the last 6 months. I stopped smoking in March, Diet Coke in July, Caffine in August, and now compulsive overeating in September..... My surgery date is Sept. 23rd and I have been on 1 protien shake(breakfast) 1 shake(lunch) and 1 lean protien 2 vegies at dinnertime since August 23rd. I am now getting anxiety about my surgery next week and fighting off all of the above listed addictions!!!!:alien: Is this some sort of self sabotage??????? Ahhhhhhhh!!!! I am glad I have a place to vent!!!
  17. Hi Wanna.B. I know this liquid diet is really hard the 1st week but the 2nd week does not seem so bad...maybe my body is used to STARVING!!! My friend had to also do this diet for as long as us, I am guessing each Dr. has their way of doing things pre-surgery.. I am wondering if after band if you still get the same hunger pains as we do now....anyone??
  18. thank you to all of you for being here!!! I am also on the 2 shakes and 3-4oz.lean protien and 2 vegies for dinner, I really like the protien powder AMP for 3 scoops of powder to 14oz. of water it has 280cal., 1g fat, 2g sugar,60g of protien. It is not clumpy and tastes great, i sometimes use different flavors of sugar free jello pudding mix or banana extract to have a little more variety. i found at GNC. I have not weighed myself since I started, only when I go to the Dr. I have a little addiction to my scale and if I don't loose I want to eat over it and if i do loose weight i want to eat over it.
  19. I got into a little trouble on 8/25/10 with my Dr. I gained 13lbs. since my first visit on 3/21/10, though I did stop smoking in that time, and allowed myself to give into all and every cravings. I had to start the liquid diet on 8/26/10 and my surgery is not until 9/23/10. Needless to say.....I am hungry....

    Just venting

I go to OA (overeaters anonymous) it is a free program similar to AA. www.oa.org Being around other compulsive overeaters who are able to share their stories, help me deal with my emotions. Noone understands us like other overeaters and this is our issue.....food....it's what we do to numb us, when we are not "using" food the emotions just bubble up. It helps....give it a try...
  21. @jmari yes i have to be on a liquid diet also....i am a little dizzy today but i am just takin it slow..
  22. @ Angel- i have 1 bio child and 2 adopted children, no matter what is going on in your life children, adopted or bio, are a challenge to raise. you becoming more healthy and promising a longer life and to be more present instead of numbing yourself with food is the best gift you can give them!! GO FOR IT!! don't talk yourself out of surgery, we are all a little nervous....
  23. I have never seen myself as fat....I know I am by the scale and size of clothes I wear and most importantly my bloodpressure. But I have a healthy self-esteem which is why I believe I can succeed on this journey. P.S. I love this group...thank you for being here...
  24. I had my pre-op this morning!! I love my surgeon, she talked with me for at least 1/2 hour answering any questions I had. I am starting my liquid diet tomorrow, for 2 weeks I will have 1 shake for breakfast, 1 shake for lunch, and a small lean protien dinner with vegies. I can do this!!! It may not be easy but this is about change right?
