What are your 'non scale' New Years Goals
becca77 replied to bandiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ooooh, I love this thread: 1. Make a trip to the dentist (I have an extreme fear and this was on last years list but I didn't make it ) 2. Increase the frequency of my love life (with my husband of course!) 3. Potty train my daughter (Lord help me with this one) 4. Increase my workouts to 5 days a week 5. Pay attention to eating consciously rather than mindlessly. 6. Try to attain the best possible health I can -
Well good luck Rachael, hopefully things will settle down for you in the new year. Becca

Well said Green and Poodles.

I Never Really Introduced Myself
becca77 replied to tammyj's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Tammy, I have decided not to tell my best friend for that exact reason, I didn't want to hear those words. My surgery is Feb 14. Your husband sounds like he's in the same mind frame as mine, supportive but worried about me. I'm confident that it will all come together. -
Rachael, can I ask you how much you have lost? I'm just wondering as a future bandster, what to expect when life gets hectic and sometimes rules are hard to follow. Welcome o the site, the people here are amazing.

Ahem, Iraq was not the only dictatorship led by a horrible leader that did harm to it's people. There were and are a lot of other countries as well. But nobody goes around executing their leaders. What gives anybody the right to pick and choose? It has been proven without a doubt that he did not "cause" 9-11. As for Osama, are you really telling me with all the satellite technology we have today that we really can't locate him? We seemed to have found Sadaam with minimal problems. If I can google "earth" on my computer and have a live satellite picture of my house with my vehicle in front of it, somebody else must have better technology to be able to see into my house. Sounds weird to me.

I can't fathom being "satisfied with just a taste". Is that really going to happen???

I am flying from Edmonton to Missisauga to have my surgery the day before my appt. Is it to ambitious to plan a trip to Niagra Falls the day after my surgery? Will I be in that much pain or that uncomfortable to make it not worth it? I have always wanted to go there and I thought since being in the area with DH and DD that we might be able to make a trip of it. I will not book anything in advance just in case but I do really want to go. Do I sound a tad crazy? From what I read, some people are in lots of pain after and some are fine, I wonder what the difference is? I would just plan to go for one night and then be back in Missisauga for my follow up appt the day before I fly out. Let me know what you guys think.:girl_hug: Becca

Good advice! Gaffer, my appt with Dr.Cobourn is at 3pm on the 13th so I will just make it straight from Pearson airport. My surgery is scheduled for 9am ish on the 14th but it says to be there at 8:20am. I hope I do make it to the falls, my husband really wants to go and I'm sure my daughter will love it, but I would also settle for shopping at square one to get my walking in!

Wow Wheezy, sounds like you're having a blast! All the best for the New Yeat!

Awesome Bandiva, I hope I can get to that stage (of not wanting to kill something when I'm deprived) I am horrible on diets usually, very moody. So I hope this will be different for me too.

I looooove dim sum, it can also be quite healthy if you order carefully (steamed) and lots of veggies. Definately easy to control your portions as you pay for only what you want, and it is fairly cheap. Argon chow mein to me is definately with noodle, not bean sprout. That one if I'm not mistaken is lo mein. Becca

How is it determined what size your band will be??
-
For me it is just the wait time getting an appt for surgery. At this time lap band surgery is not performed widely in Canada, hence the longer wait time.

Wow Feb 1!!! Thats awesome. 2 weeks before me, I'll be looking to you for support when my turn comes.:bananapartyhat: Becca

Ohhhhh Guacamole, salsa, refried beans, margaritas.........leave some for me Lila, I'll be there on vacation next week, What am I saying!!! You're hardly eating anything, poor thing, but at least enjoy the beaches and sand, and think about the bikini bod you're working toward it, I suppose nothing tastes as good as that??? maybe.

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
becca77 replied to Yoda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yoda I love your in-laws story, I was sooooo LMAO! I have had it in the past where a few people have not said anything about my weight loss when it was sooooo obvious, I think its jealousy maybe. But I love the b-in law story! Becca -
Thanks for the ideas guys! I have recently learned to knit and I am terrible at it but it definately keeps my hands occupied!! Roxanne, what is Aikido? Sounds interesting. And I love the belly dancing idea, good for you for doing it!!

I so have the "last supper" syndrome!! I'm gald to hear I'm not the only one. I've been feeling kinda guilty about it. I'm trying really hard now to practice healthy eating habits but I definately will be going to the Keg for my last meal!! Thanks for the idea Mookie!
-
Awesome last meal Mookie!!! The Keg is my fave, good choice.

Wow, great to know, thanks! -
Thanks Jaqui for that, I'm with you. The more I tell myself I can't have something the more insanely I want it. I go into major deprivation mode and it really works against me. I end up putting on more weight. Thats why "diets" have never worked for me. Sure I would lose the weight, sometimes 50-60lbs. But as soon as I went back to regular food it's like I wanted to make up for all that I missed, and I would end up putting it back on +5, even if it took a whole year to put it back on. I'm a firm believer in everything in moderation. If you feel you really have to have it, then have it, or you'll end up "eating around it" consuming more calories anyways. But I guess this is why we have chose the band, so as not to do this.
