Hello, my name is Janelle. I am 54 and I am 4 days post-op. I got "banded" on August 11th. My pre-op experience was rigorous but smooth. Post-op has been another story, not so smooth for me but I am going to gut this out (no pun intended) and make this work. I am most grateful to find others willing to share their experiences and give advise on what has helped them as so far it looks like I'm gonna need some help and moral support.
I had told my Dr. that the last time I had anesthesia I woke up with a migraine. He said that they would make sure that didn't happen this time. He came through. I did not wake up from anesthesia with a headache. The migraine from hell came later that night when I was at home. Prior to that though the nausea was so severe from the time I woke up from anesthesia that I kept dry heaving. I was released too soon IMO and sent home. I kept dry heaving through the migraine and on into the second day. I did call the Dr.'s office and they prescribed some anti-nausea med. but it barely cut the mustard.
Because I was laid out from the surgery and the migraine for 2 days I was unable to get up from bed and move around and I ended up with double penumonia! So, on day 3 I am back in the ER sucking for air and wondering what the heck have I gotten myself into.
Well, nausea resolved, migraine gone and breathing restored I have developed some belching and stomach cramping that I hope someone can help address.
Though I understand one can't base their anticipated experience upon someone elses I have quickly realized there's a whole book full of stuff they don't tell you about LabBand surgery. I am just glad to find people willing to talk about it and help.
