Today I felt more normal than I have all week. I spent most of the day out of the house, I Cooke's dinner for my family and hung out with the kids rather than drift in and out of napping most of the day. How are you?

I won't always and that's where our surgery comes in. Even if I had done it, I would've only been able to eat a bite or two. But it just isn't worth it. I don't want those habits to form. I drank a a few sips of a protein drink and went about my day. But for a moment I thought...why not? But I know me. Pintos and cheese pushing my limits today. 3 tacos and dessert pushing my limits in 6 months. I am amazed I had the willpower to pull away too. I don't normally. It's the fact that I know this change happened that gave it to me.

Kim posted another thread about this but I thought I would bring it up in out little group. We are both 5 days out and she mentioned in her thread something I dealt with today as well. Hunger. I don't think I actually felt hungry, as much as I just wanted to eat. I had a lot of errands to run and even attempted to go trough the drive through at Taco Bell for pintos and cheese before I changed my mind and drove of before I placed an order. It's crazy what a hold I let it have over me but I also think it's like all changes, it takes a while to get used to a new way of doing things. I keep reminding myself that these first few months are defining for most WLS patients. The most weight is lost at the beginning and if I don't follow the rules, I'm going to be so disappointed.

I also experienced this today for the first time. I think it's normal. It's been 5 days. I just want to eat something. Everything caters to sweets and I want something crunchy and salty. Broth is not the answer. But this period of time is short and it will benefit us greatly. We just have to pull through!

Hospital Hair care
PrincessErin replied to Wallflower7522's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have really long hair. I braided it for surgery and I brought dry shampoo to wash it with. -
Good luck!!

It happened for a good reason and I bet you will be on your way before you know it.

Kimr, It sounds like you are doing great with your recovery. I haven't had a lot of pain but I've had terrible reflux.

I think the biggest benefit to the 2 week preop diet is so that you aren't quitting food cold turkey. With that being said, since you have some time, and no requirements for a liquid diet, just try to cut out one thing a week like coffee and soda or fried foods. I didn't follow my preop diet all that well and waking up to 1/4 of my stomach and liquids only was a shock. And I've done this before. I am sorry you're getting bumped out until March but I hope you keep checking in here. I can't wait to see your progress.

I'm really just riding along. I won't be lifting anything. I just need a change of scenery.

Yes. I can have protein drinks but no milk. So my Nut suggested the ready-to-drink Muscle Milk but I can't tolerate them at all. I think I will buy some sf popsicles today. That sounds great. I've been sleeping fine with the aid of my compression garmet, a big pillow to support my side and pain meds. I kinda just pass out. I haven't needed the pain medicine today during the day but I am going to continue to take it at night. I am going to do some grocery shopping tonight for my family. It will be nice to get out of the house How are you?

Claire you are my little WLS angel. I am supposed to be on clear liquids until Monday. Until then I will just keep trying these. I've been focusing on water so I don't dehydrate. It has taken me since Tuesday evening to finish a bottle of water. It's so crazy. I am glad I did it. I am just trying to be aware of anything that could go wrong because of my lapband situation.
-
I'm also still exhausted. I wish I wasn't.

Well I bought a bunch of ready made Muscle Milk drinks and it appears every time I drink one, I get that feeling of it sitting in my throat. It made me gag so bad this morning but it was all foam. I am thinking this protein drink is just not going to work for me. I'm not sure which one will.

I was born and raised right here and I couldn't survive in the cold north. The cold we had here was bad enough!

I'm in North Central Florida. I love Florida.

I had RNY on Monday. I came home from the hospital last evening. Since I've been home, I've noticed every time I try to sip my water, protein drink or take my medicine, it feels like it sticks in my throat. Or maybe it feels a little bit like reflux. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?

UTIs are no fun. I feel bad for you. Hopefully the antibiotics take care of it quickly. You'll be fine for next week. I hope everyone else is doing well in their progress.
-
I didn't sleep well, either. The only way I can rest at all is if I take pain meds. It is very uncomfortable when I try to drink anything. I'm hoping this little phase passes quickly.

I think I am drinking too fast. I called my nurse and she said to slow it down. -

Thank you for your quick response. I just wanted to make sure it was normal. I actually just got sick and vomited a little. I hope that is normal too. -
Good luck!!! I can't wait to hear your story. I'll be thinking of you!
