Does anyone else have a mass/lump under the incision on the left side? I have one. It isn't painful unless I push down on it.
-
I can tolerate a few but any other type of pasta makes me vomit immediately. I usually just have the broth. I am down 20 pounds in one month. I think I will post a picture. I was able to buy a size 14 dress over the weekend and that made me feel good. I'm still disappointed that I haven't lost more, though.

I wish I could like this post 1000 times.

I don't have anything of note to report. That's good news because it means I'm finding some balance. To be honest I spent a lot of the last few weeks in misery. Between head hunger, frustration. Food habits and not being able to eat much of anything, I truly felt overwhelmed and a little defeated. It's been clicking in my head, though. Eat slowly. Small bites. Tiny, tiny portions. The lessons are being learned and I am doing ok! At work I drink my flavored water and eat mostly luquidy type stuff like yogurt and soup. It saves me any embarrassment from not tolerating a food or eating too fast and getting sick. At home I try to have some variation of what I've cooked for my family. I have a few staples on hand that I enjoy in case that isn't a possibility. I don't do the protein shakes. I just hate them. I'm down almost 18 pounds. I'm not going to complain. I thought it would be more but I think it's still more progress than I would've made without this surgery. Some of my favorites are avocado (nnegrates fault), laughing cow cheese, a small egg cooked with a bit of cream cheese to add fluffiness, and Cambell's chicken noodle soup. I've been enjoying yogurt as well. I just take a different one every day. Today I tried a string cheese on my way home from work. I think it will be ok but I need to eat it sloooowwly. How are you guys?

Zom. So am I. I am eating very small amounts of food that can be chewed into oblivion.
-
I just thought for sure I would be like "oh I lost 30 pounds on one month!!" But that just isn't the way it's gonna go for me.

Good luck guys!!! RaeRae, I sure do hope your dr figures your insurance stuff out. This sure has been a rough road for you.

Governor Chris Christie and the Lap-Band
PrincessErin replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
On the flip side of that, there are many, many people who are revising their band to sleeve or bypass because the band either fails or just doesn't produce results. -
Kim, I think around week 5 it will start to fall off.

I've lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. 5 pounds a week is the average for me but it hasn't been an exact 5 pounds each week. I'm in my 4th week now and I'm on my monthly so I don't know how the scale will react. I thought I would be down 25 pounds by now. But on the bright side if I averaged 20 pounds a month I would meet my goal in 4 months!

Zom!!!!! I'm so proud of you!!!! You look amazing!!!!!

Governor Chris Christie and the Lap-Band
PrincessErin replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not sure why he would opt for a lapband when he has so much to lose. -
I did the exact same thing Zom did. I ate too much egg tonight and got stuck. Then I threw up. Guys I am having the worst time ever with portion size. Today has just been a frustrating struggle. I'm over it and I want to go to bed. Please don't get frustrated with the stall. I know it sucks but guys. Listen. We have tiny tummies and we are skipping part of our intestines. We WILL lose weight. We will!!!

So here is my lesson of the week! Two nights ago I was making dinner for my family. Fried pork chops, green Beans, rice and gravy. I was going to enjoy some cheesy chicken enchilada Soup I made for us the night before (without the chicken of course). Well, as I'm frying up the pork chops, I can't help but notice how delicious the crispy, golden breading looks. So I have a bite. I chew the fried breading up and it goes down easy. Yuuummmmmy! So I have another bite. Wait. Now I'm full. I had no nutritional value. Nothing good. Now I can't eat my yummy soup that would've at least given me some Protein and not just empty calories. Gone are the days of sampling dinner while I cook it and then sitting down and enjoying dinner. I realize not all of you may struggle the same way I do. But I am fat for a reason. I enjoy good. I love to cook for my family. I love to eat. I am so happy I had this surgery. I am being forced to change my habits. Just thought I would share the lesson I learned. I had my follow up. Everything looks great and il doing really well. I love reading yalls updates and keep the recipes coming. That was a great idea!

I made this and it was wonderful!

Zom!! Congrats! You and Claire and Kim are rocking that weight loss! It's so nice to see how great you're doing. Where is nnegrete?
-
Kim, I'm using myfitnesspal. I'm not getting enough Protein. I am sure of it. I have a follow up tomorrow and I'm going to discuss it with my Dr.
-
I'm really beginning to think I'm not getting enough fluids. I seem to be getting around 300-400 calories a day. Do you know if we absorb all those calories now that part of our intestines is bypassed? My scale hasn't moved since Friday. As far as healing/energy...I still get tired a little quicker than normal but I definitely feel much better. I get an occasional burning sensation on my left side if I stretch or turn a certain way. My incision look great! I've been trying puréed foods. I can't seem to tolerate too much sweet. Regular whole milk is an issue also. I had some avocado for nnegrete and it was yummy. I've been eating mashed potatoes with a a little sour cream and cheese on them. About 2 to 3 table spoons of food total. Fills me right up and tastes "normal". I had some cheesy tortilla soup yesterday and I was amazing. Half a cup was only 75 calories and it was high in Protein. Well, higher than broth lol.

my first problem
PrincessErin replied to loving.life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't drink fast either. I'm only two weeks out but it feels like it sticks in my esophagus or wants to come back up if I drink fast. -
I wish I had that problem!!!

We should definitely do the recipe share Guys. I can't stop burping every time I eat.

What was your first week pose-op like?
PrincessErin replied to skinny_minnie_wannabe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sense of smell was heightened, too. It still is. I'm 2 weeks out. I started feeling a lot better about 10 days out. Before that, I was really in a lot of discomfort and very tired. My energy level is still low but I feel more like I can cope now. -
Nope. Never heard of it. I had one for complications from my band but not for surgery. I would double check that for sure.

I am down 12 pounds in two weeks. I feel like that is slow and I'm frustrated.
