    10 commandments of lap band

Hah!!! This is so funny! It's late and I'm laughing too loudly! Great post!

    Lap Band Bible for Newbies

I'm sort of new here and I'M sure I've asked questions others have asked (and yes, I actually DO understand how to use the search function). The overall tone of this post is sort of rude. It's certainly not going to be a go-to "band bible" I'll ever use. I've tried to read it twice and it just makes me feel sort of dumb for wondering about anything band-related at all. Just my opinion. :c)

    February 2011 Bandsters?

I'm waiting for my insurance approval and date! I've jumped through all sorts of hoops and my Dr thinks I'll have no issues getting approved, so now it's just waiting. I am expecting a date towards the end of February.
  4. I'm in North Central Florida - in Crescent City, Fl. I am about 2 hours north of Orlando and 1 hour south of St. Augustine. I'm 33, married 8 years and mother of 3 children!

Hey, outside! How is the bile/tummy issue going??? Has a Dr figured it out yet?

    Serving Size Irritation

I did that exact same thing with the exact same food!! I was SOOO MAD when I discovered that it was for 2 servings! It's clearly packaged for one!

    5 year weight history

I have UHC Choice Plus PPO and a 5 year history is required. I do have a 5 year history but my BMI is not over 40 throughout the whole time. (It is for 2 of the years). It doesn't ever dip below 35, though. Do you have to have a BMI over 40 for the entire time?

    Post-Op Diet Hell

Betsy is so wise. I hope that the OP really listens to that post. I haven't been banded yet, so I have no real advise. I am a chronic dieter and self-beater-upper, so I can definitely chime in on that part! It will be ok! It's not too late to change your habits. Take it a day at a time. :c)
  11. Awesome! Great job! I can't wait until I can post stories just like this! Great job!

U.S Bariatric, St. Augustine, Flagler Hospital

I read on a different thread that you were having issues with bile. What a bummer. :c( I hope you are feeling better soon. Thank you SO much for the replies. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me!! I noticed in your tracker that you've lost 70 pounds! Congrats!!!! That's absolutely amazing!

U.S Bariatric, St. Augustine, Flagler Hospital

Did you share your story? I'm interested in some of the techniques he uses for the band. Did you have to stay overnight in the hospital? Did you have a catheter? How soon did you get your first fill? Does he fill aggressively? Does he staple part of the tummy over the band to prevent slippage?

    anyone worried it won't work?

I really have been scared that it won't work but your post REALLY is one of the few that's made sense to me. Yes, I can change my eating habits - I've done it TONS of times!! That's the problem! I can lose but I gain back. Is this band going to help me, back me up and remind me that I CAN'T eat like I normally do?! When you say you reached your proper restriction, you couldn't eat like you did before - that's all I need. I just need the 'stop'. You know what I mean?? Thanks for the post. :huh2:

    Yay for my band!

YAY!! To be able to push away and only have a little bit sounds like a far away dream to me! Congrats to you! It's great to ready good stories about the band!
  16. I'm so confused about the whole thing. I wanted the band until I started reading here!! There are some very inspiring exceptions, but MOST posts are about how AWFUL the band is and how they're ALWAYS hungry and the band does NOT WORK!! Does it work or not?? Should I just go on a strict diet and hope for the best?! I'm very confused right now as to how the band is helpful, which really sucks because I feel like it's the only surgery I'm comfortable having. I'm truly confused about how it works and WHY so many people are feeling unsuccessful with it.
  17. When I weigh around 180 I can fit in a size 12 in stores like Aeropsatle and AE. I am almost 5'3" and have an hourglass shape (and a giant belly!)

    rollercoasters????

I am a Disney addict!! I just wanted to wish you a great trip!! You're going to love every second!! I don't see issues with your band. Maybe if you're concerned about port irritation at the surface, get soft, fluffy bandages to cover it in case the bar from certain rides rubs against it!!!

    Sleeve vs. band

These threads make me so confused about what to expect. Does the band help - or not at all!?

    My band slams shut!!!!

I'm glad I read this thread, too - not for the tightening band warning but also because now I know I'm not alone in my quest to find peace and calm in my relationship with my 15 year old son. It's not easy!

    Newbie Here, Just Wondering...

I have UHC Choice Plus, too and I'm only required to have a BMI of at least 40 or 35 and greater with co-morbidities. No supervised diet and no Hx of being overweight. I think my Dr does require a psych eval but I'm not entirely sure on that. I think it really just depends on your surgeon, etc. Maybe once the ball is officially rolling, you can talk to your Dr about the fact that you've already met your deductible for the year so you'd like to have it ASAP. I hope they schedule you quickly! GOOD LUCK!!

    I'm Back!!!

Welcome back, Zeniada!! I wondered how you were doing! I'm glad you came through your surgery ok. I hope the gas pain subsides quickly but I have heard that shoulder pain can last for a while. I wonder why the shoulder is where it ends up hurting? I can't wait to read about all your success!
  23. So, I contacted US Bariatrics in St. Augustine, faxed my insurance cards and some patient info, filled out an online medical history that was approximately 513577 pages long...I called today and they said I need to wait a week or possibly TWO to find out if my insurance COVERS the procedure. UM? I told her that I already called and it IS covered and she informed me that they still have to call. How does this take weeks!? Should I just find a new place? I'm afraid to because I don't want everyone hounding my insurance company all at once. But, I really hate waiting...
  24. PrincessErin

    Not that great at waiting...

Braaaaaaaaaains!!! :c) Your post was actually very funny. I'm just not that great at waiting ;c) <3 It's not my insurance that's holding up this process at THIS point. It's the Dr's office! I don't want them to move slow! LOL! I want my surgery NEXT WEEK. I think that's really the problem - it's what ajames said. I made up my mind and now I want it to happen.
  25. PrincessErin

    Not that great at waiting...

But I haven't even been seen yet. This is just for them to find out of my insurance COVERS it (which it does!) Not an approval!
