symptoms of Esophagus dialation or band slippage
thininde replied to Carla K's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Carla - If it hasn't cleared by morning, I would call your doctors office, they will probably want to see you. -
Congrats on the weight loss! Also, about your question a few days ago about the fill, I had surgery about 18 months ago and there are some days that I can't get anything down in the morning except water, and then there are days that I am actually hungry in the morning. My doctor told me that your band should be tight right after the fill but I usually feel the difference 2-3 days after the fill, so I guess it is different for everyone. Have a great trip!!

366-Congrats on a first great few weeks. It really does get much easier and Dr. Irgau's office is great, but be prepared to wait when you go in for a regular fill. It normally takes me about 1 to 1 1/2 hours to get back there for the fill and then the fill takes about 5 minutes. But besides the waiting the office is good, and the docs are all nice. Good luck going back to work!!

I have absolutely felt that way after a fill, aren't you supposed to be less hungry?? Mine always gets better the next day, in the morning, I reallys start to feel it. I am always tighter in the morning than I am at night, is anyone else like that? Annie - Congrats on 150!! That is amazing....you should be really proud of yourself. Nat - 16, not 16W way too go!! Regular size people clothes, you rock! Anyway, couldn't get on this morning and panicked, thought maybe work blocked the address, thank god they didn't wouldn't be able to make it through the day without the LBT love!!

I agree, Brandi got me tracking my food on FitDay, and explained some of the stranger things my body was doing first few months! Nat - There are some bodybugg armband devices on E-bay, you may be able to get one there for less.
-
Nikki - Congrats on the baby, what an exciting time. Read the posts alot, don't get on here as much as I should, when I start to feel like this is an uphill battle that I am facing alone, it always helps to get read the last few pages and realize that there are so many people that are going through the same changed and crap that I am!

I actually had the same thing happen this weekend and had to get my band unfilled! They took out all the fluid because I was choking on the food and couldn't get anything down, it was making me gag and I had to cough it up. I feel so much better now, but a little frustrated that I lost all the fluid.

Kirsten - I have also hit a plateau and it is very frustrating with all the work you put into it and not getting the results that you want. I was banded 12/6/06 and I have stopped for about 2 weeks also. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he told me that 1/2 lb to 1 lb a week was normal. Not at all what I wanted to hear!! My goal is more like 2 lbs a week. He did tell me that since I was in good physical health that I should be exercising 5-6 days a week and doing that will make the weight come off quicker. Of course I already knew that, but hearing it made me more determined that I need to get re-focused again on this and lower my calories to about 800-1000 a day and get back to exercising.

Hello Ladies - I'm just back from being sick for the past week so catching up on all the posts. B-man - You are one hot momma! You can definetly tell in your face that you lost a ton on weight. Nat - I'm sure the Lord appreciated you getting all dolled up for him, hope it goes well with the new man. Sounds like you are handling it well. I get my next fill on Thursday and I need it. I can eat about 2 cups of food and not feel too full. He only put 1 cc in last time so I am asking for a lot more this time!
-
Brandi - Congrats on the weight loss, that is incredible. What you said about eating too fast and not chewing enough is exactly how I feel when I eat too quickly when I start eating. Thanks for all that great info.

I really don't think that it is sarcasm, just a really limited view of the world, coming from a really small minded person.

WOW Tired OLD Man!!! -- Shouldn't you be posting your comments on a White Supremacist website instead of one for WLS patients! IT has to be hard being so angry all the time!!

Nat - Please tell me it will stop snowing soon in MI, I have to be there in a few days for work and do not feel like dealing with the snow!! I went to a local support group the other night and I have to tell you, this forum is so much better than sitting in a group of people listening to someone that had gastric bypass, I can't really relate to someone that lost 60 lbs in 2 months. Although I am jealous as hell! I felt like I was at a AA meeting (never been to one), but we had to say what type of surgery we had and when, some people talked about how much weight they had lost. Not really feeling that type of support, I am much more comfortable being able to say online what I want and not sit in a room of 40 people. This support system has been the best for me, thanks to everyone. Even though I don't post very often I read them almost every day at work and it keep me going when I want to get a candy bar out of the vending machine that is 10 feet from my office!!!

Claudia - Haven't been on for a few days, happy belated birthday! Hope you had a great one. Nat - Sex with a minister? Sounds dangerous! Everyone needs a little strange when they are single, maybe he will make you see God. - I know I am going to get so much shit for saying that, but I couldn't resist. BK- That video sucks, I'm sorry your sister sent it to you, doesn't seem too positive...

Nat - You are crazy, not a psychopath, just a little crazy, I know they say "don't shit where you eat", I met my husband at work, married 10 yrs. It may work out, it may not, but atleast you gave it a try, just don't tell anyone! Jill - Great job on the 7 inches, I'm going more by the measuring tape, than the scale, because the freakin scale depresses me each day!
-
Steph - Just your story made me sweat, does that count for my workout today? Congrats on really pushing yourself, I'm sure you can feel it today!
-
Nat - Bang! I got 4 inches cut off my hair and got bangs this weekend. Just needed a change, something for myself. SB party - I am taking some veggies that I can eat and a dip, I had a horrible weekend with food. I ate bread for the first time and now I am craving it again. I had a fat free hotdog on a bun for dinner tonight, didn't need the bun but ate the whole f*ing thing, it was good, but I was hoping I wouldn't eat it because bread is not helpful with this lifestyle. I also had a small piece of pizza, it was good, but I really feel better if I eat Protein. I think I will set a goal of 15 lbs by V-day, that would put me at 230, it's been years since I saw those numbers. Anyone else got a goal?
-
Good Morning!! Have a question - can anyone else feel their port? I was laying in bed last night touching my stomach (I know that sounds wierd!), and I can feel a lump in my stomach. It feels like sort of a long tube, that has a lumo, down where my bellybutton is...anyone else feel anything lumpy in their belly?? I told my husband that maybe it was muscles that I haven't felt in a long time, he almost fell off the bed laughing (jacka&*%).

BK - I am usually good about not drinking with meals, but sometimes I forget also. We had mexican the other night and I thought I was going to die without something to drink, it was spicy. So I had a few small sips, just to ease the burning in my mouth. I get really thirsty when I eat, so it took a lot of getting used to. I am not being as good as I should with the exercise, my treadmill is dying and I am thinking about a eliptical (?). I know that a lot of people on here like them, so we may get one this weekend.
-
i didn't have any restrictions the day of my fill, I ate just like I normally did, and had mine at 3pm, they said water for a few hours after and back to normal food, every doc is different.
-
Nat - Good for you in holding back the need for some action with work duties, but it can be really hard, especially when you get along with the person. I am trying the more calories for 2 days and then down to about 800-1000, and then I will weigh myself in about a week. I can't do the scale every day, it depresses me when it doesn't go down. My goal for the by b-day, 5/26, is 195, I'm hoping I can hit it.
-
OMG Nat! Those pictures are nasty! I hope my shit is not that saggy, it makes me want to lift more weights so I don't get all saggy. I try for working out 4x times a week, swimming is working best for me, although I didn't know you could actually sweat in the water. My heart was racing so much, I thought it would explode, I thought being in the water would make it easier, it's all I can do to get my big ass across the pool. I have noticed with the fill, that I am more restricted in the morning than in the evening. I am staying off the scale like Nat, and hopes that mine will more 8 lbs. also.
-
Brandi - I feel the same way since my fill. I can only do about 1/2 cup of food and I have to take it really slow. I was used to being able to eat more, but I guess this is good for the weight loss. I have been stuck for about 10 days at the same weight. I did liquids for a few hours after the fill, but didn't feel the real restrictions until the next day. I talked to my doctor when I first got the fill and he said that I need to check with him in about 4 weeks and let him know if I need another fill. I guess there is no specific amount of time between fills. Steph - Thanks for the taking the time with the exercises, I may try them tonight.
-
Okay - so back from the fill. No pain at all from it. My doctor numbed me with a tiny needle, waited about 30 seconds, and then put in the big one, didn't feel a thing while I was in there. I'm on liquids for about 24 hours, and then back to normal food. Now that it has been about an hour I feel the restriction, more like the way that I felt a few days after surgery. I like the way it feels, knowing that the band is still there, sometimes when I eat a lot, I don't even feel like I have it anymore. Strange that I want to feel the restriction, but it reminds me why I did this, and how far I have to go.
-
Nat - Congrats on your weight loss, maybe you just needed to shock your system. Don't discount the 15 min of exercise, it's better than nothing. Good luck your son's father, hopefully it will work out for the best. Steph - My mom says the same thing, shouldn't you be down more by now, aahhh, to be a size 8 like her, she doesn't get it, but I know she cares. Two hours to my fill, kinda feel like I'm going to throw up, I'm more nervous for this than I was my surgery, because I'm awake during this and I freakin' hate needles...
