just curious what people's day consists of....... sorry if similar topics have already been posted. and, do you diet? i know if we consume high calories we won't lose weight..... but other than that, do you eat what you want or look for low fat, low carb, high Protein, etc. options this may be a good thread to get ideas for tomorrow's lunch!! lol dinner is easier....... it's at work that i have difficulty with.... i was a chronic 'buy lunch at work', now i bring it with me more often.

alot of people are walking around with gallstones and don't know it. the only time it is a bad thing is if you get an inflammed/infected gallbladder......... this can happen if a stone is small enough to try and exit the gallbladder and gets stuck in the ducts.

i drank that my first week post-op. i was very surprised about how tolerable it was!

i had my first fill 2 weeks ago.... 3cc. i didnt feel too much change at that point. after the 2nd fill this week i am noticing more. but you should still be careful not to get food stuck..... i took it for granted that i wasnt feeling 'tighter', and i had a couple of episodes.

hi, do not smoke or chew gum before the test, this makes you gassy and obstructs the view for the u/s. you can eat normally at dinner the night before. if your meds are urgent: ex. heart condition or diabetic, then take them with sips of Water. if you are allowed to be off them for a few hrs, then don't. it's up to you.

:clap2: goodluck everyone! p.s. whatever you do, do not go on my 'what did u eat' topic, watch the food network, read cookbooks, smell food ur family is making....... etc.
-
if it's in a research stage, that's all they have funding for probably and i'm guessing the people who need it the most (ie. mult health issues) will get on the list
-
so what are your updates november bandsters? i probably expected too much..... but seeing some of the amazing results of others here.........so far it's been kinda slow for me if i compare..... i've probably lost about 20lbs all together..... half of which are post banding and only 1 since the first fill........ i just had a 2nd fill so i am hopeful that the scale will start moving quicker...... i'm disappointed slightly, but extatic as well, 20 lbs in 2 months is pretty good i guess, and it's been a while since i was at this weight on the way up lol

are you saying fills are covered by the healthcare system in AB? is teh band covered too? or are those patient' fills a part of the price they paid upfront? i this case i can see why a dr. wouldn't do it for free for someone else's patient.

actually pushing a mower uphill is strenuous... it requires the entire abdominal wall sou should be careful with that!!!!!! u don't want to get a hernia
-
LOLLLLLLLLL i didnt mention that part..... but the orange flavor gravol masked it..... slightly..... :phanvan
-
congrats! i also had my surgery very quickly after my consult. about 2.5 weeks... the reason i went in for the consult, is because i had already decided i was doing it... and i was basically going in for approval on their part.
-
skip it! it's cold and flu season.......... i remember about 5 days postop i went to pick up my sister at work.... bad idea lol........ too much stress on the body in that sitting position.... then i went to the grocery store and almost passed out..... enjoy ur time to urself........ it'll be over before u know it
-
another one very near by is the howard johnson on avenue road.
-
i couldnt find liquid anything!!!! we went to 4 different drug stores...... i just bought a pill crusher and threw in the pain med and chewable gravol in there and took it with some sips of water

yeah, because u need a special liscence to use radiation. im a healthcare worker... i used to work with radiation, that's why i was so curious. i was also wondering what the complications are with finding the port..... are they sometimes too deep? mobile? something else? congrats on the quitting smoking!
-
hi re: pb'ing.... ur airway is separate from the esophagus.... u wont choke, but its uncomfortable as you have heard re: nip tuck..... i saw that..... and i actually have heard of anaesthisia not working on someone but they had other medical conditions that probably caused this.......... so i had the same fear as u!!!!!!! as they were putting me to sleep, i kept moving my hand lol so they would really know i wasnt out yet....... stupid, but it made me feel better lol...... i was aware of the entire 'putting me to sleep' experiene since i was concentrating. it was weird.... but let me tell u those drugs are so poweful ull be out in no time.... just ask u close ur eyes, it will feel like minutes later when the nurse is trying to wake u up. best of luck!
-
in your case......... as u mention it is necessary.....but i think some places have it as the standard way of fills. i just wanted some insight on the procedures since i am new, and since i work in that business...... thanks.
-
i dont see how kidney stones would be related to surgery.......... i know it is terrible pain..... might be worth getting an ultrasound or ct scan to check it out...... or at least a urine test good luck
-
all the things u mention can be solved clinically...... u get reactions if u are too tight or not tight enough......as for port location, they can mark ur skin if it's a tough one........ i for sure would do it to check for slippage... but beyond that, i wouldnt want that much radiation..... again, uless there is an urgent reason for it.....
-
don't be so down..... yes it is a huge disappoitment, but there is no reason why you can't still work towards it........ as someone mentioned already, there are other things you can do to help yourself...... the band is just a tool, not a miracle...... i had found the band many years ago online..... at that time it was only done overseas..... as a student there was no way i could afford to fly to europe to have a surgery....... over time i saved up and it came to canada....... there is a reason for everything......i dont know you or your condition, but if your on a cpap.... u must have health issues..... perhaps you were saved from surgical complications that could have arised at this time...... there is no reason to give up... keep fighting..... life is sweet.
-
just curious......why would you think it's better to be filled with fluoro? it's a constant xray.....
-
how long would someone be off work?
sg_sg replied to andreerichards1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i took 3 wks off..... i work in health care so im always pushig and pulling beds and patients..... actually i could tell that @ the clinic they struggled with signing the form for that long of a period, but i wanted to be healed as much as possible before going back and having less risk of hernia..... i dont lift as much as u obviously but when i did, i would really feel, and still do, feel strain...... if ur clinic doesnt sign a paper saying u need a certain time off, get ur family dr to help you maybe. -
would i have lied to u? u really need to get the package sent to u.... enjoy
