Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I wanted to know if anyone has had their band slip on them, and what were your symptoms. I was banded 07/26/06 and I have only lost 18 lbs. I had my first fill 10/18, and I am going for my second fill next Wednesday. In the past week I do not fill restricted at all, and it just doesn't fill the same when I eat. I think I might be getting myself too worked up. I would love some info. Thanks!!

How to know if band slipped
iateyourcake replied to iateyourcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much for ya'lls info!! Update, I went to the dr today and my band didn't slip, they put another .75cc in me so total 1.75! Thanks again. -
I went shoe shopping this past weekend and was amazed that my foot size has shrunk! I was wearing an 11, I bought 2 pairs of shoes, one a size 9 and the other a size 9 1/2. Just curious how many people have lost shoe sizes, and how many??

I have heard the younger you are and the more water you drink you will have a better chance of the skin bouncing back.

Congrats on your surgery. I also had a hiatial hernia that was repaired while I was banded. My doctor gave me this thing (sorry I don't know the medical term), but I had to take a deep breath and blow into it and keep this meter thing in between 2 numbers for as long as I could. I had to do that for 5 days, several times a day. It does get easier. I remember praying not to have to sneeze because I was so scared something might pop out of place. I am not sure what the chest pain is, but the shoulder pain I can relate to. It is gas. Yes, gas. All of the air they blew your body up with to perform the surgery is trying to get out. All my doctor said was unfortunately you have move around more to help the gas work its way out. Mine lasted for about 3 days. The first day after was the worst. I even took gas x to help relieve some of the pain. For your port sight, what helped me was I had a small little pillow that I kept pressed against the port area. Everytime I got up that pillow and me were best friends. When I walked around that pillow was pressed against the port area to help relieve the discomfort. I hope this helps! You will do fine!

I have a question, how do you know if your band has slipped? If I have vomited 3 or 4 times since my first fill back in October and now one week before I am to get another fill, I don't feel a lot of restriction could my band have slipped?

Banded 3 months
iateyourcake replied to chrissytina32's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello chrissytina32, I just found this website last night. I wish I had looked sooner. From what I have read it seems there are a lot of people that are friendly and have great information. I was banded about 4 months ago, and I feel as if I am not doing that good. However it has taken me a while to figure out everyone's body is different. The first week after I was banded I cried almost everyday. I think I did this because I have never had surgery, I didn't have anyone around me that had the surgery to relate to me, and I honestly felt horrible about having the surgery, I thought I did the wrong thing. After a week of letting all my emotions out I just told myself, that I decided to make this change and I am going to have to deal with it in a positive way. I think what you are feeling is normal. No you are not different. If you think about it there are millions of people who want to lose weight, and millions of people are going about different ways to lose the weight. You went the lap band way, and there are many others who chose the lap band way too! I am just curious, did you keep your lapband surgery a secret from people in your life or did you let everyone know? I ask this because everyone knows that I have had the surgery, and I am finding that it is tough because there is at least 1 or 2 people a day that ask "how much weight have you lost?" , "how are you doing", "when is your next fill", or I hate the comments "wow, I thought you would lose like 80lbs by now". I find this tough to deal with. Can you or anyone relate, and how is the best way to process those comments and questions in a positive way? -
Lab band and travelling
iateyourcake replied to melipooh9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I traveled 2 weeks after my surgery, we went to Cancun. My port area was still a little sore, however that didn't stop me from having a good time. You shouldn't have any problem. -
I have only had one fill so far, and I did burp several times during my fill. I also have the larger band to hold 10cc. My doctor said the burping was normal, nothing to worry about. His recommendations were liquids 24 hours after the fill.
