  1. Hello and welcome to the journey!!! Week 1 was was truly HELL week! Week 2 was much much better. My Doc allowed cottage cheese (which I am not a huge fan of) I put some vanilla yogurt in mine to make it taste a bit better. I also ate lots of Slip Pea soup that week. I would say my main staple during week 2 was protein drinks, broth, yogurt, cottage cheese, split pea soup and i cheated with some hummus. I was not too hungry that week and would get full quickly so that week was not too bad. You'll be past this stage so quickly!!! These hell weeks will be just a distant memory:smile2: Good luck
  2. We know all to well how hard this journey is!!!! We are all coming from the same place (obesity) I am always discovering foods that i CAN eat without making myself sick which make this all the harder. I'm sure I could eat that McRib sandwich and a few fries if I wanted to but I made a decision before surgery that I had had enough. Enough watching my clothes get toooooo tight :scared2:and enough sitting on the side of the pool because I was tooooo embarrassed to wear shorts (let alone a swim suit) and tired of just feeling like I was busting out of my skin while sitting on the couch. What is really scary is, how do you think you will feel in a couple more months when your body is not getting enough nutrients/protein to keep your hair from falling out or when your complexion starts to lose it's color and you start looking ill. You have a wonderful tool!!! Some people who so desperately need it cant even get it. Don't let your chance to make yourself healthy go without a fight!!!! You are worth more than all that fast food. Take advantage of this and make it work for you. It's not just about losing weight, It's about getting healthy

    Omg....flappy arms

Ok, I do have to agree that Flappy is better than Fatty!!!! I will try to flap with pride, I guess it's something like wearing War Wounds. But getting Oprah to clip our wings would be a wonderful idea!!! I'm sure she's flapped a few times herself. LOL. Hey congrats on being 10 lbs away from goal!!!!! Nice job.

    Omg....flappy arms

LOL... you are too funny!!! Well, I guess I too can practice not clapping over my head but the not wearing tank tops puts a damper on my "cute little summer clothes" vision.

    Omg....flappy arms

Some things are really beautiful flapping in the wind!!! The different color leaves on the trees, a crisp new flag but never quite pictured my arms flapping in the wind to be such a great sight :sneaky: What exercises do you do for arms???
  9. Awww, hang in there. Try to walk more that may help you. I tried just little sips of broth at a time (cold stuff kinda bothered me) and started to feel better towards day 5-6. I told the hubby when I reached goal, we were goin to Puerto Rico to renew our wedding vows and thoughts of the skinny me on the beach in that cute little sundress got me through a lot of the post-op pain  I hope you're feeling better soon!!!!
  10. That's just TERRIFIC!!!!! OMG I cant wait to see that too. Keep up the good work
  11. I had really bad gas pains in my shoulders and neck for the first week. I was a peppermint tea drinking fool(tea helps gas) and walked a lot!!!! Then week 2 my port was feeling kinda funky for a few days but towards the end of week 2 I started to feel pretty good. (although I didnt let the fam know because they were doing the house work while I wasnt feeling well) You'll be past this before you know it!!! Just keep thinkin of replacing all the Black Knit you've got going on in your closet with cute little clothes. That works for me. I have a similar wardrobe  Come on jigglebutt.... you will feel better soon!!!!

    Port Soreness

I was banded on Oct 4 and I didnt really feel to much soreness at first then I started to feel this stinging kinda pain that would come at random times. That freaked me out!!! The doc told me that was just my port healing and getting a little tug here and there. Someone suggested I use a heating pad and that really worked for me. Doc told me little by little I would feel it less then just forget about it. And a few days later I realized that I hadn't felt it again. I hope you're feeling better really soon.

    Surgery Tomorrow

Hey Shorty, so today is your day. You will probably already have had surgery when you read this. My surgery went really well!!! I had surgery on monday 10/4 and stayed in the hospital overnite but only because my insurance required it. It was good because I did some Band-Bonding with a few others that also got banded on that same day. I really had no abdominal pain only gas pain in my shoulder and neck. Walking and peppermint tea really helped to relieve the pain. That lasted just a few days. By the end of the week I felt normal again. Week 1 for me was hard because of the liquid diet and trying to get down all those protein drinks. The drinks that I use are the ones made by EAS-Advant-Edge CarbControl. They are in all the stores and have 3 flavors. I like the strawberry and chocolate fudge best. Well I'm starting to ramble on. I'm sure you too will recover soon after surgery and when that part is behind you, you will be so very happy you made this decision!!!! Good Luck and lets chat soon
  15. Hey Y'all, I was banded on Oct 4th and I have been wanting to attend a group support meeting. I am looking for something in the Pasadena/Sylmar areas (or anywhere in between) Does anyone know where there's a good meetin goin on???

    Cheeseburgers

LOL... That's funny. My husband decided he wanted an Ice Cream Cone from Micky Ds and wouldn't you know it.... that big ole sign announcing that MY MOST FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD was back! Oh the sadness. I'm only 3 weeks post op, there's no way I could have even tried to eat that. It was a sad day  It's comin your way...I hope you're ready

    New Weight loss tip

MMMM Chicken w/gravy sounds really good. I'm gonna try that!!! Getting all that protein is really hard. I have been drinking those Protein Shots. They have 30g of protein and they are only 3 ounces. Thats half your protein in just a few sips.

  23. Hey, surgery went well!!! I had no abdominal pain at all however i did have gas pain in my neck and shoulders. That lasted a few days but I was feeling almost normal by the end of the week. The hardest part was post op week 1. That was hell week (fluids only) but I lost 15 lbs in the first 10 days. That's a hell of a jump start and it keeps you motivated to see it keep coming off. I'm excited to wear cute clothes :)

Good luck with your surgery!!! Your day is almost here.

    New journey

Hey welcome to the adventure!!! I too was banded on Oct 4th. I was so so ready for mushies that I didnt even think about being scared :wink2: although this week with the introduction of chicken and lean meats I've been worried that I will eat too much and not catch myself before I get overstuffed. Still this is a very exciting time and as the pounds are coming off it's just more and more motivating. Good luck to you... i'm sure you will get there!!!
