  3. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary Esin!

  4. Hey guys, Im 12 days post op just wondering whether anyone is experiencing alot of hunger, as technically the band has no restriction until the first fill. I am on mushies for now, but unsure how long this is supposed to continue? can anyone help.? It seems you get different advice depending on where you have your surgery. Mine was in Belgium and i was told 10 days liquids, then mushies, but I don't know if this has to continue until my first fill??
  5. Hi, I'm no expert but i thought you might like to know that I spoke to someone who said they didn't do the pre op diet very well (if at all). It was probably NOT the best attitude towards WLS, but her arguement was the surgeon didn't know how big her liver was in the first place, and how will he know how much it has or hasn't shrunk!! I'm NOT suggesting anyone do this, but just wanted to let you know that her surgery still went ahead. Needless to say her weight loss has been slow. I guess that's why they say you have to "follow the rules"!!.
  6. hey everyone, i'm so excited to announce that my surgery is booked for the 3rd September. I am travelling from London to Belgium as a self pay.

    9 months banded........not happy

Hey guys, Thank you all so much for the comments directed at me, and one thing we all have in common apart from the band, is of course the need for support. Still counting down till my surgery (3rd Sept) and feeling very lucky to have found a group of people sharing their experiences and knowledge. I'm so grateful. Dragonflylover, the tone of your post is already sounding more positive and this will be sooo beneficial for you. I'm so happy that everyone's comments are helping you and I hope you'll be able to have a little bit taken out to ease your discomfort. I live in London where hardly anyone has insurance. I am also funding my surgery alone, and I'm travelling to Belgium to get it done. I'm soo excited! Howdybooth, you're very right, people do assume we are 'lucky' or have taken the easy route. They have no idea!. I will keep posting my progress and I hope to show you all my ticker chart too soon!. Have a good day everyone!. Hope the weather is nicer where you are... its very rainy here in london! LOL x

    9 months banded........not happy

I'm genuinely sad to read that this hasn't worked out for you. Thank you for your honesty. I am still researching everything despite having my surgery date set for the 3rd Sept. It's important to know that this doesn't work for everybody. Alot of those people who didn't 'get on' with the band have their surgery reversed and have a bypass or gastric sleeve. Would you consider this ? Your weight loss is definitely slow compared to the majority. I'm scared I will also not feel full or satisfied. I'm not sure what to suggest to help you as I have no experience. If it is sore, or painful- I really think you should get a 2nd opinion. It may have slipped or even be placed in the wrong position. I really wish you well. Hugs.
  9. I just saw your weight loss ticker!. you're doing great!

  10. Hey how are you?

I notice you have been banded very recently. I was wonder how you are coping and getting on with it. Have you lost much weight yet?.

I'm getting my surgery in Belgium in one week! Very excited but a little scared to. How did you feel the first few days?.

    60g protein a day?

Will you gain weight if you eat over the recommended 60g a day?. It's all a bit confusing for me!. I'm just about to have my surgery and I'm trying to get as much information as possible. thanks.
  12. Thank you for your reply. I'm starting at 203 Lbs so, it would be amazing even if I could lose 50lbs in 6 months. It's very inspiring.... I'm counting down the days to my surgery... 2 weeks exactly!.

  13. Hello! Thanks for the pic comment. During my first 6 months I lost over 100 lbs. I hit it pretty hard and really tried to follow all of the directions from my surgeon. I got into exercising 5-6 times a week too. The exercise is amazing for both mental and physical well being :) Good luck!!! :)
