I'm 54 years old & have had a love affair with food since I turned 18. Was raised by my grandparents in a small town, where the food was baked, boiled, broiled or pressure cooked. When I left home for the first time, I discovered FOOD!!!!. From that point on, everything in my life revolved around food - I ate when I was happy, sad, stressed, calm - even when I was sick!. No matter what the reason - food always made things better. Now, 36 years later & 150 lbs heaver, my love affair with food has got to come to an end. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritic knees, & probably a dose of depression to round things out. I know I can change my eating habits, the question is, can I do it forever & not for just a few months. I'm hoping this surgery will be the start of a new outlook on life, one that does not focus on food, every minute of every day.
