Need some lapband friends!
mcassisa replied to sabrina c's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi I have had my band since 2006 in live in louisiana. If you are hurting on the rt side do you still have your gallbladder?? People who have a quick wt. loss usually have problems with the gallbladder after having lap band surgery. Thank goodness mine was gone before. If you would like to chat let me know. I have lost 90lbs, I had reflux and my band was too tight and had to open back up. I gained back 15lbs. Trying to get back down where I was. You can email me mjcassisa@yahoo.com -
yes I have the same thing not acid reflux. mucus and whatever last drank makes me cough and if i lay on my side or stomach it comes out my nose like a water fountain. Tried not eating or drinking after 6pm and it still happens. I don't know what to do my band is fine. I have to stay on sinus meds and antibiotics so i don't produce the mucus in my stomach.

surviving the liquid stage
mcassisa replied to x-ray chic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey x-ray chic, Ultrasound chic here to tell you for the first 4-5 days on the liquid wasn't so bad because you have just had surgery but after that it got kinda rough i was pretty hungry on that liquid diet. I had to do it post-op for 10 days. But I made it throught it and it was all worth it. -
I felt the same way was I doing the right thing could I live w/out bread pasta. YES I CAN !!! And the results out weigh the alternitive of being fat. I was banded 10/2006 and 47lbs lighter and feel great.

Sorry to here that your nutritionist was such a bitch. Mine only deals with lap band/bypass patients and she was great and she was a little chunky and understood the struggle.

you probably need to stay on liquids and soup and jello to let you esphagus relax for a few days

oh my jesus, no wonder your in pain. You ate something you shouldn't have. You probably have esophagitis from trying to eat that thing. I got from having my band tightened and then trying to eat a piece of fried chicken. You need to call your doctor and get them to prescribe you the desolvable prevacid.

I understand your pain of the fills. After i had my first fill of 1cc I felt the tightness when I ate but that lasted about a day after the second fill now up to 1.5cc I couldn't eat a thing. Everytime I tried to eat no matter what is was it would come back up. The last straw was when I couln't even swollow water so I had an unfill of .5cc. I was able to eat soups and drink liquids, but was still unable to eat chicken or veggies so I had another unfill of .2cc and was prescribed previcid because now I had esophagitis. After taking the previcid I can now manage to eat about half of lean quisine meal. I lost 7lbs in 7 days not intended. This has not been a good second fill experience for me. Maybe my sweet spot for my band is 1cc, I have lost 45lbs since Oct 25, 2006.

my port is midline of my abdomen. I thought it was on the left under an inscision but I work in an x-ray dept. and I had them take an x-ray of me so I could see where the band and the port was.
