WC, thanks for the warning. I've been afraid to try for that very reason. the other day i tried one very little bite of pizza and it stuck so bad I was pbing for about 15 min. YUK! :speechles I'm not sure if I'll ever eat pizza again (just the toppings!) I guess I'll go for the hamburger first without bread. at least it is already ground up ! i really don't want to give up red meat forever. I've been adjusting to chicken and fish but would like to splurge every once in a while on a "good" tender piece of meat.

Hi all, Kirsten I too am glad to hear of some one else sitting with a big needle sticking out of their stomach. It was a weird experience! The restriction for me does not feel like anything other than I'm not hungry and when I am very little fills me up. I'm doing great now, No bread for me, seems no matter how small a bite or how much I chew it gets stuck. I'm learning to take pills one at a time no matter how small they are. Anyone else get that "Stuck" feeling in the base of their throat. I always thought that I ate slow but I am learning to eat slower. The result is I've lost 5 pounds since Thursday! I am sure it'll slow down but I am almost down my first 20. Yeah. I promised myself a treat of red meat, either the hamburger I've been craving or a piece of steak. Something yummy. Have a great day.

Hi all, My first fill was Thursday. It was done a beit different from the other ones I read. First I got a shot of Lidocaine to numb the area then the Dr inserted the needle and had me sit up (!) They gave me a glass of luke ward water and had me drink. He did the adjustment while I was drinking. The second sip stuck so he released then I drank some more. We did this until he and I both felt comfortable with the fill 1.45cc's. I was on liquids the rest of Thursday and Friday. My pill did stick! I have had to learn to take one at a time and cut the larger one. Since I take quite a few it takes a little longer, but having that pill stuck was miserable. I went to soft foods and of course had a few problems not sure if I ate to fast or to much but have learned what PBing is and don't care to do that again. I'm down 18 lbs since the band was placed and am feeling really good. Hope you all are doing good as well. Dee

Hi all, I'm getting my first fill tomorrow morning and am a bit anxious. Anyone already had theirs? I'm not sure what to expect but am beginning to get hungry so I'm sure it's help in that regard. I have tried hard boiled eggs and bread and both have "stuck" in my throat! wouldn't go up or down! what an awful feeling. I just hope that won't happen with any other foods that I'm trying to eat. I still have not attempted red meat and being a meat and potato kind of girl that's been quite an adjustment. I am looking forward to a bite of a really good hamburger (even without the bun) but I decided to wait until I lose my first twenty pounds and then I'll have a portion of red meat as my reward. I'll let you all know what happens after the fill.

Hi StephC and NGAdams, I have to tell you I'm not a warrior at all. I lucked out with a wonderful surgeon and a high tolerance for pain. I only have four very small cuts. Of course the Port one hurts every so often but if I put a pillow for pressure it seems to be tolerable. I'm getting to the missing chewing on something stage right now!

Hello, I was banded last Friday afternoon. Other than some gas I fell really good. I am allergic to most pain meds so the gave me some tylenol before they sent me home. It was done outpatient since I paid for it out of pocket. I really haven't had any need for pain meds, walking helps when the gas gets bad. I haven't been hungry and am having trouble getting enough liquid in. Although, I am trying to add Isolate protein powder to almost everything. I think the being tired is the lack of protein. I came back to work Monday and am looking forward to the holidays. I hope all of you have a great Holiday Season and we'll all start the new year healthier! :girl_hug: Dee

Stacy Your day will be here sooner than you think. I remember the waiting and being told I need to gain 10 more pounds, and God knows how many more health problems before they would consider me. DH and I decided we would pay for it ourselves. It is a large amount to come up with this time of year, but thank goodness my family understands that Health is the best gift. We are ready for the holidays, bring them on! Dee:nervous -

All of you are great. It feels so good to check in a couple times a day and read all the inspirational things you have to say, not to metion I get a giggle out of some of you. I have been motivated but now I'm actually excited only 7 more days, even with my dh still being "achey" from his he is doing great, already down 10 pounds!. Is it me or does it seem that the men have a lot more pain than the ladies? Ok so I need to update my signature and add a ticker thingy, pointers anyone? I don't want to be the boring one in the Dec. group! Dee -

Hi all, I'm scheduled to be banded 12-15-06. My husband was banded the 29th of November, also 2006. I'm glad to have found you. I had a lot of questions already answered, but I'm sure there will be more. So, as I stated this is the first time ever posting on the internet, not sure of all the procedures and abbreviations. Anyone care to help me get up to speed? Dee
