    January Bandsters???

Me, too! I got 4 cc's in my VG band. I really don't feel anything. My Dr. The past 2 weeks I have struggled to stay with the program. I hope this has the same effect as when I first got banded. My dr. will not give another fill for another 6 weeks.

    January Bandsters???

I would say I had no restriction, but... Hubby and I went out for dinner to a favorite Italian place. I ordered Chicken ceasar salad. I was very hungry and ate --- one piece of bread, 1/4 of the chicken, a couple of bites of the ceasar salad. I also drank one glass of wine. All of a sudden, I was so full that I had to go to the ladies room and you can guess what happened to the dinner. I guess I under estimated my restriction and over estimated what I could eat. Another lovely learning experience!
  4. Sorry if this is TMI, but I know that some will understand how good this is... I haven't moved the scale in over a week BUT.... My first NSV ...... I suddenly realized today that I can wipe my a** without the turning and twisting that I had to do for the last year or so. WOW! I guess the inches are starting to come off!

    Banded 2/16 Appetite?

Nursedeeva, What you are feeling is totally normal. Enjoy it while it lasts. Sometime within the next week, your feeling of fullness will probably go away and you will be very hungry. This too is normal and if you read through the January thread, you will see that most banders seem to go through this. I was banded on January 15. For the first week, I was not hungry and had to push myself to get the protein and water in. It is a whole different story now and I can't wait for my first fill on March 6.

    January Bandsters???

I can't tell you all how good it is to hear that so many are struggling. I don't feel like I am failing again. Unfortunately, my appointment is not until March 6. That's almost 2 more weeks! Arghh!

Add me to the Tax Day Challenge. That is also the day I go on vacation to North Carolina. Put me down for 20 pounds. I get my first fill in March and that should help me with this goal. Current weight 338, Goal weight 318.

I was thinking, what a great incentive to go by stones instead of pounds. Instead of waiting for 50 pounds to celebrate the scale going to a lower notch, you could celebrate every 14 pounds and say neat things like "That's another stone I am not carrying around" or how about starting a rock garden and adding a special stone to commemorate loosing a stone. What a great visual that would be! Now to get out my calculator.....

    January Bandsters???

This is what I really like about this board. No matter where you are, there is someone there right with you on the same stage of the journey. Doesn't make me any less hungry, but does make me less depressed.

    January Bandsters???

Hi, All. Today is really hard. I am so hungry I could eat a horse. I am trying to drink water instead of eating, but it is not very satisfying. I have 4 more weeks til my first fill. Argh!
  12. Kedasmom, I second everything you said. My grandson Daniel is two now, and I get out of breath thinking of him coming over! LOL This last summer he got a darling little sister and I need to get rid of some of this weight before there are two running around here! I want to be the fun grandma - not the tired old one sitting on the couch!

    January Bandsters???

To everyone who feel they have no restriction: I was banded on the 15th. Felt a lot of restriction at first, then real hunger on the 5th day. Fought to stay on the 1000 calorie diet, but thought I did not have any restriction. Well, Today is my 31st wedding anniversary.:clap2: So we went into the city (AKA NYC to tourists) and saw a show (The Drowsy Chaperone, which was a lot of fun) and then stopped for dinner at a restaurant that we have not been to in years. Since I hadn't had lunch and thought I did not have any restriction, I ordered like my old self. I had one glass of wine when we sat down, ordered a second when the salads were delivered. I ate almost all of the salad and then my entree was delivered. I was only able to eat two of the chicken chunks and I burped and got the feeling that nothing else was going to fit in. I have enough left overs for 3 more meals of the same size, not to mention the mashed potatoes, which I did not even touch. Lessons learned: 1. I do have restriction, even if it is not as much as I would like. 2. Now it is evening, I am full, and because I skipped lunch I have not had enough protein today. I should never skip a meal. 3. There is a reason that the nutritionist says to eat your protein before anything else. I filled up on vegetables and then could not eat my protein. As the Pennsylvania Dutch say: Too soon old, too late smart.:biggrin1:

    January Bandsters???

I felt this way after the surgery, but then on the fourth day out, I was soooo hungry! I think the swelling from the operation had gone down. I grit my teeth and stayed with my diet and after two or three days the big hunger went away. I have no restriction, but am doing my best to stay on my diet. I don't go back for my fill until Mar. 6.
  15. Go for it! I am 53 and was banded 1/15. Everyone says I am just like my mother and she is 84 and going strong. I do not want to spend 31+ years on the sideline watching the world pass me by. I want to play with my grandchildren without running out of breath or stopping because my back or knees are killing me. Life is not over at 50. If we play it right, it is just beginning. Haven't you heard - 50 is the new 30!

    January Bandsters???

Thanks for the lecture, Cindy. You are sooo right. I have been so hungry yesterday and today that I have been tempted to forget about mushies and move on to real food. With your kick, I am back in line. This is my new life - I do not want to go back to my old ways. Thanks for the slap upside my head!

Renee -the funny thing is that today is the first day that I have actually gotten all my water in. It's nice to know that I am not alone.

    January Bandsters???

Bad day today. Banded Jan 15 and everything was fine. Then all of a sudden today I am so hungry I could eat a horse. I am trying to stay on the diet but it is a struggle. Any words of wisdom?

    depression

Congratulations on taking these first steps. From the research I did, most doctors seem to feel that although people with diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, etc can often stop or drastically reduce their meds, depression is different. So, I would not use that as a reason for having the surgery. As you say, everyone is different, and maybe you will be able to, but PLEASE don't stop taking effexor without your doctor's ok. Effexor is one of the medications that you cannot quit cold turkey, but must gradually decrease. Some people will tell you that it is hard to loose weight while on effexor. I checked with my psychistrist last week and she said that she has not seen any studies. She has 3 other patients with lapbands that are loosing weight successfully. Plus she reminded me that I lost 75 pounds on Atkins two years ago, and 50 pounds on MediFast. Of course all that weight came back on, but that was me stuffing my face. By the way, I have been on effexor and seroquel for 3 years and haven't had a severe mood swing in about a year. It has been wonderful. Good luck with all your clearances! Don't listen to the nay sayers. Everyone is different and they are not you!

    January Bandsters???

Renee, The port is just under my largest scar, which is about 6" below my left breast. My scars may be in a different places than others because I have a large scar on my right side. All my scars are on my left side.

    January Bandsters???

Hi, All. Just back from my one week check up. Everything looks good and I have lost 13.6 pounds! I found out that I have a 11cc band. I go back in 6 weeks and might get a fill (depending on how fast I am losing.) Also, I found out that what I thought was my portal was. So, for some people it is possible to feel it. One not-so-good thing: when Dr. P went to place the band, he found and removed a cyst from my stomach. The pathologist finally got back to him today and the results are "inconclusive." Dr. P. says we will just watch it for now. ?????? The good way to look at this is they never would have found it if I did not have the lap band surgery. I have resolved to just be happy where I am. Love you all!

    January Bandsters???

Good evening, all! I was doing a lot of organizing and sorting and did not realize how time was flying, when I started feeling ... Hungry! So, I stopped and fixed some cream of tomato soup. 25 minutes and 3/4 cup later, I was ... Full! This is so weird! Can this continue? I sure hope so. 5 days post-op and I am pretty much back to normal. I have a weird feeling like I have a belt on my lower ribs. It's not painful or anything, just there.

    New to group

Try www.bariatriceating.com They have a great selection of Protein and supplements. The site was created by a woman who had bariatric surgery and everything on it are things that she has tried and likes. There is a starter pack that includes her book, several single serving sizes of different Protein shakes so that you can try them before buying the full size, and an exercise cd and band that will get you moving. No, I have no connection to the site, other than I really like the site and products. Good Luck! It is all worth it.
  25. Happy Friday! I have another post in the January Bandsters, but I know this group will understand that what happened today was a real milestone for me. Starting at 358, I could not use my home scale since it only went to 350. I was banded on Monday and today (Friday) I tried the scale and I now weigh 348 and can track my weight myself. Doing the happy dance tonight!
