  1. So I had planned on returning to work today, almost a week after being banded. I had my first post op visit with the doctor yesterday and all went well. I've been feeling pretty good, soreness went down and I felt ready for full liquids. Well, I woke up this morning, showered up and jumped in the car to head in and on the way, got just about the most upset stomach I've ever had. I had to turn around and go home which I'm pretty upset about. Looks like I'm gonna take the rest of the week and rest, and head back to work on Monday. So, is this normal to have happen, the "upset" stomach part? I'm hoping with some creamy Soups and pudding, something more than just liquids things might start feeling a bit better on the other end. Anyone else feel this way?

    Back to work today...or not.

My doctor was Dr. Prokurat out of Centerstate Hospital in Freehold, NJ. He's a great doctor. I'm at home now, sipping on isopure and water and my stomach isn't feeling any better. Normally, I would eat some toast or crackers but obviously, I can't. This is the worst I've felt so far...

    First Fill = NO DRAMA

I'm glad to hear its painless...I get my first fill in about 4 weeks.
  4. I'm 5 days into my band and I've been the same way. It was suggested to me that if I could, to lay on my left side. Supposedly it helps the gas find its way out and relieves the pressure. I have to say, I've been laying on my left side on the sofa and when I do, it definitely helps me.

    August Rush in bandland!

Hey everyone...I was banded last Friday and had my first follow up with the doc today. All went well, he was impressed with my 22lb weight loss in 5 days. I am moving onto full liquids tomorrow and I was given permission to slowly add some soft foods like really thin mashed potatoes. So, for now I'm looking forward to creamy soups, pudding, and shakes and I may attempt some soft foods next week if I'm feeling up to it. All in all, I feel great, soreness has all but disappeared and the gas issues have subsided considerably.
  6. Hello everyone, my name is Jamie and I'm from New Jersey, lol. I've been kinda snooping around the forums for a while and I figured I would check in and say hi. I just had my surgery this past Friday, the 6th and so far so good. I'm still on the Clear liquids and doing my best to get enough Protein in. I've been slowly drinking Isopure and find that I like the Alpine Punch the best. I'm going in tomorrow for my first visit with my doc post surgery. I am 6'5", and I started out at 357 lbs. I weighed in this morning at 339 which I am happy about but a bit concerned that I'm losing too fast if that's possible, lol. Anyway, my goal is about 250lbs. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to battle the gas pains I'm having in my chest? Also, any other suggestions you could give on what I can expect over the next few weeks? Thanks, I look forward to meeting you all.
  7. Hey Melissa, nice to meet you. Yeah, so far the gas has been the worst part for me, lol. It sat in my stomach and eventually moved to my shoulder...I was freaking like I was having a heart attack! I picked up some of those gas x strips today and I'm excited to see how they work. I'm going in for my first visit with my DR today and I'm excited to get to go ahead to move onto mushies. I had no idea how much I'd miss mashed potatoes, pudding, and scrambled eggs. lol. How are you feeling?

    New Guy saying hello!

Thanks for all the welcomes! I'm going to look into the Gas x strips tomorrow. My chest still feels like its full of air, lol. Tomorrow is my first visit post op and I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait for the mushies!
  9. That is an unbelievable accomplishment! My goal is to be able to finish a 5k. During my football playing days I could run 2 miles. Your story certainly gives me a lot of inspiration!
