HELP which flavor protein shake to get for post op 2 week liquid diet
Michsha replied to sexytee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My tastebuds haven't changed so I don't know why they think everyone's changes. I think maybe attitude has something to do with it. I can tolerate anything as long as I know that I will only have to do it for a short time. Hope this helps. -
Dr. Farhan at Hurley Medical in Flint, Michigan
Michsha replied to pom mom's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Farhan and Dr. Kralovich did my surgery on December 29th and I am doing wonderful. Just know that there are always two Dr.'s in the operating room with you when you go in for wls. Good Luck! -
Kudos! Can't wait to be where you are.

HOW BAD DOES IT REALLY HURT after surgery?
Michsha replied to onedivanms's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you for asking this! I go in tomorrow morning at 5 and surgery is at 7:30 a.m. Hopefully I have the same results as most everyone else has had and you will too. Blessings, Shannon -
Will I have to give myself heparin shots? This is the first I have read of this! OMG....My surgery is on Dec. 29th. Now I am getting scared. That sounds worse than this diet that I had to start on the 14th. Any and all replies much appreciated. Thanks, Shannon

Oh! Thanks all for your fast replies. I have already had my pre-op testing and wasn't told any of this. So thank you again for all helpful info. Happy Holidays to all and stay on track during these stressful but joyful times! Blessings, Shannon

I am also sometime in January! I can't wait I was going to get R-ny because my insurance wouldn't cover the sleeve but now it does so I am new to this forum. I have been hanging out in the other forum. How is the recovery time with the sleeve? I feel like I am starting over. Thanks for allowing me to join. Happy Holidays to all!

Thank you for your imput. I am two days from my first therapy session and am really looking forward to getting started with it. I would love to look and feel better like you and must remember to be positive instead of scared. Usually it takes alot to scare me, but this is a big decision and not something I will take lightly in my life. Thanks again~ -

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Michsha replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Indigo, I am 55 and just going through the beginning of getting set for getting approved. I am scared and wonder if I The therapist said I am not ready and I have to go through at least 6 sessions of therapy before he will release me for surgery, but I have been reading lots of negative stories about people having their bands removed. At my age I wonder if it would be better for me to have rny rather than the band? If I am starting to be scared because of reading other people's stories, should I still pursue WLS, or just throw in the towel? Thanks for any advice you can offer. I chose you because we are the same age. -
Well I had my pre-surgery therapy session yesterday and came home so depressed that I wanted to eat myself into oblivion. How dare the Dr. tell me that I have "victim" issues. That being said, I have to go to counseling sessions before I can be approved for surgery. Imagine that! But now that I have had time to sleep on it, mull it over for awhile, and shed a few tears because I will have to wait. I have come to figure out that the surgery will not work if I don't find out what the real reasons are that I got myself where I am today. So my big question is......did anyone else have this issue and how did you get through it without beating yourself up with more food? I am not good at trying to analyze myself. So I really do need an impartial person's help to dig it out of me. Thanks for any and all encouragement. Shannon

Pre-surgery Counseling Approval
Michsha replied to Michsha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My son thinks it is because they want to get more money from my insurance company. But thanks for your replies. I wish I could get a new one, this is the one the Bariatriac Center sent me to and He won't approve me until I go to more sessions. $270 out of pocket plus what my insurance pays for his testing which I believe is around $800. I am not sure how much more it is going to cost out of pocket ;{
