What do you tell people at work?
butterfly17 replied to ghostbuster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Luckily I worked for a very small law firm and my mom just so happens to be the manager. There is only one attorney, my mom, a part-time accountant who I rarely see, and two other employees who work from home. I've been very open about my decision to have this surgery with my family and friends. I haven't told the attorney that I work for but I don't think I would feel uncomfortable speaking with him about it. I can understand how some people may not feel comfortable talking about this with family, friends and co-workers. The decision for me to be open about getting surgery was the best decision for me because I have the best support system now. Good luck to you all! -

butterfly17 replied to stacy73's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey there, I'm scheduled for Sept. 7th. I started this journey last November. I had my insurance approval in March. So I have been patiently waiting for a surgery date which was just scheduled about 2 weeks ago. I'm sure you all can imagine how excited I am after waiting so long for a surgery date. 18 more days to go :clap2: Good luck to everyone out there! -

I don't want to diet before banding or pre-op diet. Is this normal?
butterfly17 replied to hopefull loser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, This is my first post but I've been actively reading since November. I still do not have a surgery date. I was asked by my surgeon to lose 27 lbs before surgery. In November I was 252 and by April I was down to 229. My surgeon wanted me @ 225 so I was almost there. BUT they had to coordinate my surgery with two other people. So it was a hurry up and wait thing. Well now three months later they have the other two patients and now I'm up 12 lbs. Now they are waiting on me to lose 16 lbs before they will even schedule the surgery. I feel like the day will never come. I got so discouraged from waiting and now I feel so depressed. Does anyone have any advice on how to lose this weight quick without feeling like I'm starving myself? My surgeon did not put me on a pre-op diet. I saw the nutritionist last week and all she suggested was fruit & yogurt for breakfast, lean cuisine for lunch, and chicken w/veggies for dinner, with fruits or low fat cheese for snacks. I don't see myself losing much weight following the nutritionist advice because this is basically what I've been doing for the past month. Any advice and words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance }i{
