I did do WW for 12 weeks at my job. Unfortunately for me, I could not eat 28 points a day....and since I do not eat breads, or rice at all...it made it difficult to get to 23 points each day. Needless to say, I did not fair well on WW. Worked for alot of my friends who were not banded though.........

@Ladybug5 I too am peri menopausal. I'm going to be 2 years post op come April and I can tell you the last 6 months have been miserable. Night sweats, terrible periods, and acne like I was 14 again! I was put on birth control to help with my periods because I've had 2 D&C's and both results were normal. No endometriosis. So the pill has started to help, but I noticed that I'm now gaining weight and I'm going back to my doc in a few weeks. Hopefully they can figure out how to get me back on track. I've lost a total of 60 pounds, but have at least 40 more that I could really lose. Good luck everyone...nice to know I'm not alone!
  3. First of all..good for you for using this forum to express your reality. Okay, so you've gotten off track. You still have 25 pounds off...and for that, you should feel proud of yourself. Secondly, we all have a love affair with food. If we didn't, we wouldn't have had this surgery and be dealing with being overweight. It's not easy to change that relationship. I am 5 months post op and am down 65 pounds. But let me tell you...I am successful only because, I was in a life or death situation medically and I had a choice to make. I battle with my desire for food daily. But I know that my body and my family deserve better. You can do this. Just regroup. Get back on the pre op diet for a few weeks...talk to your doctor and get yourself moving. Just know that you never need to feel like a failure around this group! Ever!
  4. I was banded April 12, 2010. Just went in yesterday for my 3rd fill. Have a total of 6.8cc in a 10 cc band. I've lost 52 pounds post op....62 total. I follow the rules and guidelines given to me by my doctor like the bible. I have not put bread back into my diet, I do my Wii Fit every night for at least an hour, and I'm noticing fantastic results. The decision to have this surgery was life or death for me. I was a diabetic on insulin and pills, getting ready to be put on high blood pressure meds. I'm only 41. I was taking more meds than my parents who are in their late 60's and early 70's. Not the life for me. When you have this procedure, it's time to be serious. Do everything you are told to. Follow the guidelines and the weight WILL come off. I promise you that. I could never lose weight, but I came to the realization that I had to get my MIND right as well. We need food to live...but we don't need to LIVE for food.

Dr. Giselle Hamad performed my surgery at Magee Women's Hospital on April 12, 2010. I am down 4 sizes since April (went from 3x to size 16) and have never been happier. Off of all my diabetes meds and high blood pressure meds. This was the best decision I have ever made.
