Totally fell off the diet the last week or so.. ugh! Not happy with myself. But I just gotta get back on track. I wish this was easier sometimes, and I wish almost every food in the world didn't have a million calories and taste so damn good.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know some people can't eat in the morning.. but I would think that is a symptom of being too tight... but I guess everybody is different. I eat probably my biggest meal for breakfast usually. I also think it depends how people want to work with their band, some want it SO tight, that they can't really eat. I'm kinda stalled too, been eating like crap, I just got back from a surprise trip to Vegas.. gotta get back on it! -
Congrats! That is so great

Don't have those things in the house . I try to keep nothing terrible at home, so even if I cheat it won't be that bad! I find the less snack food I have around the better. I do get tighter, like my appetite is totally gone, but I get snakier during my period.

Start over... liquids, mushies for a few days. Plan out your meals. Make yourself satisfied. Find things that are lower calorie that you can eat more of. I'm assuming you are like me, where you can still eat anything. Just fill up on low cal stuff! I wouldn't jump to a fill, get your eating on track first, and check your hunger level.

I'm so sorry Mandy!! Best of luck! You can do it!! You made it so far already! Don't give up, even without your band

Water, Water, Water

3 weeks out and frustrated!
HeatherinCA replied to betheboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is healing. Takes about 6 weeks for everything to even out. Also you are on solid foods and can eat 2000 calories a day after 3 weeks? Following the diet from your doctor? You won't lose any weight if you eat 2000 calories, be honest with yourself, it's the truth.. You have to burn (lose) 3500 calories to lose a pound of fat. So either by eating less or exercising or both. What you did pre-op is out of the equation.. Yes, if you are heavier you lose faster. -
Protien in clear soups or only cream soups?
HeatherinCA replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea there is chicken protein powder, I tried that but it just gets gross! unless you drink it luke warm, so i gave up that idea -
Really struggling with this post-op diet!
HeatherinCA replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You just gotta control yourself.. it'll always be like that. Eventually.. after fills and stuff you will get fuller on less food. But you HAVE to remember, not as important at this stage, but you have to control what goes in, and the calories... don't test it. Maybe call your doctor and see if you can go to mushies yet. But just hang in there! It's only a week out of your whole life!! -
some questions bout what to expect
HeatherinCA replied to tracey1964's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can drink as much as you want. It goes right through... you may not WANT 3 cups at a time though. But yea you need to drink 64oz a day, so drink away I spend about 10-15 minutes on dinner. It depends on your tightness and how your band reacts... But you need to eat smaller bites.. it's more about tricking your brain into being satisfied with the small amount of food. Also for some people if you eat too fat it gets stuck and you puke it right back up. I can feel my port if I touch it.. but doesn't really feel like anything inside me. You can vomit, I don't see why it'd hurt anymore than usual.. Unless it's during the first few days when you are healing. OF course you get more energy when you lose weight I can eat pasta, some people can't.. but it's not great for you, and it has a lot of calories, and you can't eat very much it, so I usually just don't have it... or whole wheat that has Protein in it is a better option. -
Protien in clear soups or only cream soups?
HeatherinCA replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's because the Protein can't be heated past a certain point then it coagulates.. unless you want it luke warm, you can't do it. I'd just drink the shake, and then have soup for flavor. -
Slight cheat on liquids but well worth it!!
HeatherinCA replied to kellyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Hello??? Does lap band work???
HeatherinCA replied to PamelaLVN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The 1/2 cup thing is BS... It's about 4oz of Protein, then about a 1/2 cup of some kinda veggie, and a starch. I eat Breakfast 2 eggs 1 lite 100 cal english muffin and a tomato lunch 3/4 cup tuna or chicken salad 2 crackers dinner 4 turkey meatballs, with marinara and cheese, or a lean cuisine and usually in there a snack, like a bowl of oatmeal.. and thats about 1200 calories. YES some people are so tight they can't eat anything, but I eat a fairly normal diet, I'm just never hungry. Also don't worry, you are just healing. It takes about 6 weeks for everything to even out.. and normal weight loss is 1-2lbs a week. -
Hmm had this 180 calorie Healthy Choice meal for dinner.. wasn't bad. Just amused it had so few calories!
-
I can find em... for Calcium Citrate with D I got these Caltrate ones.. but now I take Viactive chews (they taste better) and One A Day Makes gummy vitamins.. they are just expensive though... CVS and Rite Aid have store brands and often have good coupons.

North Hollywood Buddy-4/29 Banding Date
HeatherinCA replied to ocandjam's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm in Hollywood not NoHo thought, but you can send me a message if you have any questions! Oh gosh I'm terrible with exercise, I need to get back on that. -
Me too! I'm shedding like a dog LOL. Luckily i have a lot of hair. It's from the trauma of surgery, and from super quick weight loss. There really isn't anything you can do about it, but it will stop. You can try taking Biotin and all this protein junk, but I don't it will do much. I just take the recommended vitamins, and eat my protein.

WHO IS HAVING A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THEIRS?
HeatherinCA replied to Rosemarie K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am, no problems, no food gets stuck.. The first month is tough with all the healing and not eating. But it gets better. It's just a constant battle to follow the diet and stay on track! Not going to lie about that. I would just say, don't go in thinking it's going to do something it's not. -
I know bread is going to be tough, but Is Pizza out of the question?
HeatherinCA replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Guess i'm lucky then! I have no problems with my Lean Cuisine pizza, it's 340 calories, and has 20g of Protein. I eat a full one, but sometimes i get really full from it, probably the bread, but it doesn't make me sick or PB. If I'm out and that's my only option i stick with thin crust to reduce the calories. I guess it depends on how temperamental your band is. But I have zero problems with any type of bread. -
What is a healthy (and normal) weight loss rate?
HeatherinCA replied to melzie_99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1-2 is healthy. That isn't that quick... haha it's slow if you ask me!! You need to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound. If you follow your 900-1200 calorie diet you should lose it. Mine is generally 1-2lbs, depending how good i am, and if I exercise -
how long did you have to do the liquid diet?
HeatherinCA replied to cantwaittobeskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1 week of clear liquids pre op, 1 week of full liquids post op. Then I went on to pureed food 10 days, soft food 10 days. -

Should I just get an unfill?
HeatherinCA replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can't eat hard protein, you are too full.
