Calling any parents: are you afraid your child will be obese?
HeatherinCA replied to lauragshsu's topic in The Lounge
I'm not a parent, but I feel like my parents habits caused me to become obese. I'm 25 now, clearly I've been making my own decisions for a while. But the way I was raised, the food we ate as a family didn't help. I guess they just liked to spoil me, but I would think when I was young 10-18 that my parents would of been a little more concerned about what I was eating. I guess they were, but I've been fat as long as I can remember, I wish it would of never become a problem in the first place. My parents are overweight, but not as much as me. My mom maybe 30 pounds, my dad maybe 50. -
Would you go on a date with someone who didn't ask you out until you lost weight?
HeatherinCA replied to ser123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm thinking yes... it would depend no the situation though, and who it is. I haven't been asked out, so if someone approached me that I'm friends with, I wouldn't think anything of it. If it was someone that had rejected me then I'd think twice. TBH I haven't dated, never really had any desire at all (maybe I'm weird). Hopefully I will want to when I'm skinny, but personally I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to because of my weight. I judge guys! I know I'm overweight, but I judge these things about them too. I don't want the type of guy that is available to me now. The (majority of) guys that like overweight girls are an interesting crowd and it doesn't interest me. It's shallow but that is how our mind works. I don't feel I know anybody that would suddenly ask me out when I'm skinny though (lol all my boyz are gay). So I'm not too worried about it. -
I haven't had a fill yet but today i made my own and i just made them really mushy on really low heat and that was fine.

SHOCKED at how fast my motivation disappeared!
HeatherinCA replied to hokiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you went to 7-11 you can buy cottage cheese, or a hard boiled egg, or a cheese stick... don't have to buy junk food I know it's tempting but they have these things! -

Aww don't beat yourself up. Hell, if this was easy we would be skinny already. Yes, if you have any junk food in the house get rid of it, or if your family eats it, make them hide it where you can't access it. Remember you are changing your LIFE, it's not a quick fix or a "diet" this is how you need to be for the rest of your life. It will take a while to get used to it. I'm used to eating food all the time for no reason just because I wanted it. I would always look for some tasty food to buy. Now I have to stop myself and listen to my body. I'm NOT hungry, so I'm NOT eating right now. Also maybe prepare some Snacks that are healthy so if you have to grab something you won't grab junk. I would of grabbed a fudgical instead of the cake.. and maybe plain pretzels or some cottage cheese or Peanut Butter instead of the Combos. -
Yea, should be able to do sugar free / fat free pudding, I did fudgsicals, tomato soup, butternut squash soup, cream of chicken soup, i'd blend bean soups, or try straining any soup, tastes better than just broth. For me I'd have 3 Protein shakes and if I wanted anything else I'd throw in those things, I wasn't making the soups and things my meal, just supplementing for flavor maybe once a day.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I guess it's different because you have fluid in your band already. Most of ours are empty, so we can get real food in there. Mine is pretty limited for 26 days, then it's normal food. I think it's good this way, I think I may of freaked out if I had to do weeks more of liquids! -
What can I do?
HeatherinCA replied to Pamalamadingdong's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did egg drop at PF Changs the other day and it was really good too but i'd rather have chili it's heartier. -
This journey has me thinking...
HeatherinCA replied to disneymom1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait for that! It's so frustrating depending on Lane Bryant, like right now, NONE of their pants fit correctly, what am I supposed to do?! -
Haven't had one, but I have had a previous full cut open stomach surgery. This was easier, not as easy and I thought it would be, I was up and moving pretty quickly at the hospital. it's just really sore for a few days. It's a little deceiving because your cuts are so tiny, but it still hurts internally. Nothing unbearable.

Just follow the diet and you should be fine, don't "test it" like oh I can eat anything I want so I will. Yea, I'm eating a little more than a 1/2 cup, but still being careful and not eating anything crazy or fried or tons of fat.

whats your favorite mushie food?
HeatherinCA replied to thejaketucker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty much anything tastes good right now to be quite honest haha. -
Well the back size will get smaller on your bra. Not sure about the actual boobs. Mine are small but they get kinda swallowed up because I'm so big (i'm bottom heavy so no big boobs here). I hope they are more pronounced and look more proportional when I lose weight haha.

What can I do?
HeatherinCA replied to Pamalamadingdong's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same stage as you, Chili is going down fine for me, not pureed. Haven't tried wendy's yet, but just mush it up good in your mouth, small bites, everything in there is mushy. -

The measuring question
HeatherinCA replied to hokiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think when you are losing weight you will have less, when your band has lots of restriction. Mine says 1 - 1 1/2 cups of food per meal in the long term. -
Depends on the doctor. I went through it with Kaiser about 2 years ago and ended up not doing it with them, but basically they wanted you to lose 50 pounds, then they'd say if they'd allow you to do it. But if you lost 50 pound you probably wouldn't qualify. They also REALLY didn't want to do the lapband. Ultimately they had denied me because I was 250 and had no medical problems. I guess it's different for everyone, but that was my experience. So I ended up switching to a PPO and that was instant.

I'm down 21 pounds yay!! My sheet says nothing strenuous for 6 weeks, just walking and you should get up to 2 miles a day. I feel good enough to go to the gym but I haven't yet, think I'll wait a little longer -
need a food puree "er" PLUS meal mushy meal ideas
HeatherinCA replied to krasc001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love oatmeal for breakfast, It goes down good and its filling, just thin it out a little bit with more Water or milk. I love maple & brown sugar flavor or add a little brown sugar to plain. Or you could just have a Protein shake if that is your preference. lunch and dinner, I've been having a lot of Chili, egg salad, tuna/chicken salad, mashed potatoes, refried Beans, try bean Soup (like campbells bacon and bean), or any liquid soup. I prefer to not do soup because it doesn't have as much protein. I bought one of those stick blenders, they are like $30 http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CSB-76BC-SmartStick-200-Watt-Immersion/dp/B000EGA6QI that is easiest, you can mix up Protein shakes or puree your food right in the pot or the glass. I haven't had to puree, my purees.. I just make sure it's really soft food, no hard chunks and it goes down fine.
