December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon gave me a prescription for hydrocodone liquid. I used that for a few days after.. but yea I'm sure liquid tylenol is fine, I took that for a headache the other day. The shoulder pain is apparently gas though! Which is weird.. I think I got the most relief from a heating pad. Or they sell those Thermacare heat Patches could try that. Regardless it should go away in a few days. -
Did anyone drink last night for NYE?
HeatherinCA replied to txprime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Overall just be careful, and don't go overboard. I'm sure 1 glass of anything OCCASIONALLY is fine. -
Banded 12/30, and am hungry already
HeatherinCA replied to PhillyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
More protein!! Are you getting like 60-70 grams? Also I had a lot of rumbly after surgery but it's not food, it's just gas and weird pains. -
What's good to take for that? I'm having trouble going, and I'm on solid food.

Did anyone drink last night for NYE?
HeatherinCA replied to txprime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one shot of something sugary, eh.. I hate drinking. Didn't do that much for me anyways. I really hate drinking and NEVER do it, maybe twice a year so I don't feel bad, and don't plan on doing it anymore. Also dancing for 2 hours definitely burned off the calories. -
Please Compare....
HeatherinCA replied to momtotwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain is totally bearable, and it's only for like 3 days. It sucks, but nothing was THAT bad. It's more just discomfort in your stomach muscles. -
Does anyone ever NOT get a fill?
HeatherinCA replied to BostonPA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting! I'm not hungry now.. I don't have a fill yet. But I would think it would lead to cheating if I never got a fill. I have a good handle on what I'm eating and how much, and eating slowly and all that. I don't know how long that will last! -
Any new bandsters drinking tonight??
HeatherinCA replied to beergut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I might.. I'm going out, I don't like drinking much, but I might do a shot or two haha, since I don't want all the calories. -
How much post op pain is normal?
HeatherinCA replied to sunshine755's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the first 2 days after surgery were terrible, I felt really bad and hurt a lot, but about 3 days i was much better, than by 5 I could return to normal. Get a heating pad!! that helps -
I hate it too! Same reason, I just don't like the act of going. It smells, and nowhere to put your stuff, and it's busy. My parents signed me up a month or two ago and I still haven't gone :-x. Also I belong to LA Fitness (big gym chain) and there are 4 or 5 gyms within 10 miles of me. One is huge and new and nice, and the others are smaller and older... do some research and find out which is nicest? I don't know where you live, and if you have hills or good weather. But I like walking outside and hiking. I had a personal trainer for a number of years and once a week we'd always go hiking in the canyons. 1 hour long hike burns about 600 calories she told me. I enjoyed that way more than being in the smelly gym. I took a walk outside this morning it was nice, little cold though!! But I think I'm going to start hiking all the time. Also I wanna look into classes like Zumba or Yoga or just things that don't involve the gym. I wish I could get a treadmill but I have the smallest apartment on earth and I'm on the 3rd floor.

What my Dr. trying to hide?
HeatherinCA replied to shelley1057's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think they intentionally make you go back for a ton of fills, you won't know it's right till you go home and eat for a few days an see how it's working for you, I'm guessing. -
1st Day Post Op
HeatherinCA replied to Strike Up the Band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had terrible neck and shoulder pain but that was gas. I didn't have a headache.. did you give up caffeine perhaps? Just walk walk walk!! It'll help the gas pain. -
Did Not Succeed
HeatherinCA replied to Want To Be Thin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe just start over! Follow all the rules and you will lose weight. Don't test your band, eat the amount you are supposed to. I always wonder why people say I can still eat normal amounts of food, the real question is WHY are you doing that. I think a lot of this journey is mental. I haven't had a fill yet, but I'm hearing people having problems and lack of restriction and they go back a zillion times and all that, I think 50% of it is what you decide to put in your mouth. Sure I want food, but I'm not hungry you gotta pay attention to that. I'm also with everyone else and go check with another doctor! -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi new bandsters! It's so weird to be losing weight so quickly haha, I tried some pants on today that were too big, I actually couldn't wear them! haha. Soft foods are going good! Trying different things. Trying to figure out what is the most filling. I'm starting to like crackers more than I should, not sure I'm going to buy more of those haha, or I need to find a lower calorie one. It's just nice to have some crunch with my meals. I see my doctor for the first time next week since my surgery on the 13th. I don't know if I'm getting a fill or not. I think it's just my post op, because the holidays pushed it off. -
SOMETHING WRONG???
HeatherinCA replied to JAMILLAH E's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They make vegetable stock! It's only a few days out of your life, you will be back to normal food soon. You don't have restriction thats why you can eat things.. but you aren't supposed to! That is why we have guidelines. -
Most things are like that! It's annoying!! 400 calories isn't that bad for an entire meal. But I'm sure you can do better for 400 calories.
-
Congratulations!! I can't wait to get there

Is there a time limit on losing weight?
HeatherinCA replied to pollywogg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would think if you are losing weight really slowly, and you are cheating, you will lose motivation. But, yea I think it's just a number. For me, I want to lose all the weight right now! I didn't spend all this money for it to take years and years. But I think you can still use the band as a tool in the future if you get off track. -
LOL BeerGut and Dave_NW your avatars make me think you both look like Homer Simpson, cracks me up. Did you ever see this episode where homer got a lapband, it was on a week or so ago haha. I didn't get that exactly, a few of my friends were like can't you just eat better and exercise? I had to explain, sure I can lose 50 pounds on my own, I can't lose 150 on my own without help. Seriously, I'm 25, I'm unemployed, I've never been in a relationship. I'm gonna wait till I'm 50 to lose weight? No! I try not to think about it, but I'm sure if I go to an interview or meet guys, it does affect their opinion of me. I don't want that! Every other part of my life is great, my family is great, my friends are awesome, I live in freakin Hollywood! It's pretty great, but I think I am losing out on things because of my weight. My doctor didn't think anything of it. I told him, I've been overweight forever, I've been on every diet, I've had a trainer everything, no luck. The past 2 years, I haven't given a flying crap about weight loss at all, I had basically given up. I physically needed some help now. I'm not sure I would of considered this if I was like 18. But now I'm 25 and I'm an adult, I'm mature, I can make these decisions.

OMG...16 page psych test!
HeatherinCA replied to happygirl65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first surgeon I went to check out had me do that, I was freaked out by that! That was part of the reason I didn't go with him. I think some of them were maybe to make sure you were paying attention? Not just circling random things? It totally rubbed me the wrong way. My surgeon I chose just had me have a meeting with their psychologist and basically just asked me a few questions to make sure I'm ok. I think they want to make sure you can handle being skinny mentally, and make sure there is no "deeper" problems causing your overeating that might be worse if they surface. -
It's official... I'm starving!!
HeatherinCA replied to disneymom1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing ok, banded about the same time as you. Pay close attention to your body, are you really hungry, or do you just want food? try and up your Protein? more Protein shakes? I'm eating a little bit more than I'm supposed to, but I'm watching the calories. Just because I can eat doesn't mean I'm filling up on junk food. Me, I'm not really hungry, I mean I want food at my meals and I'm hungry for them, but I'm full after I eat them. Making sure I spread my meals out, and that they have a lot of protein, get my Water in, -
Here's mine.. haha well i have 4, this is the biggest, and 3 really tiny ones. I was banded 12/13, they were covered by steri strips till they fell off on Sunday. I can barely see the other ones, nothing that bothers me at all...

Hi, I'm 25 I got banded this month

Global Warming: Real or hoax?
HeatherinCA replied to serenity55's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No and yes. I think this happens naturally. Things change, the world gets hotter and colder. It has over the millions of years. I don't believe anything we do as a country causes it... hasn't tons of the things in Al Gore's movie been proven false? I think of it as like a cult. I guess believe what you want, but more so I don't believe we should base our economy on "green jobs" and energy savings. I don't see a future there. Also there are plenty of countries that don't give a crap. The less we pollute and less productive we become, the more China will pollute and the more productive they will be come. Also none of the 3rd world countries or less fortunate countries will ever become compliant it's too expensive.
