December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the cramping, but it went away about a week ago, I don't feel anything when I bend or move anymore. Oh gosh I love being able to go to the gourmet grocery stores and picking out something small, it feels so special! I'd never wanna do that pre-op because it would be so expensive! Cause I would need so much food. Now I can get a nice little dinner, a scoop of a special salad, or 1/2 a sushi roll for under $8! I'm such a cheap date now. LOL Anyone have any luck with bowel movements. I got a stool softener, but it didn't seem to do what i want. i just want to go regularly. (I know weird topic) -

Yea, it's just healing, and you can't exercise vigorously yet. I've been lose about 1-2 pounds a week since surgery. What Vicky said, if you don't eat enough you won't lose either, your body need something to burn. -
What do you dip? First meal?
HeatherinCA replied to imagine923's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could blend a taco I think with extra salsa, I've been having some ground turkey, with salsa and melt a little cheese on top, does the same effect for me, sometimes I'll crack some shells in it. (or I do ground turkey with marinara and mozzarella) -

My soft food stage the one after puree's allows crackers and toast. I mean if you chew up a cracker it completely mushes, thats why babies eat them. I've been having some crackers with my chicken salad for lunch though i'm finding I'm getting addicted to having crackers, so maybe it's not the best idea. -
Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

We have a December thread most of us post in there! I'm sorry that you're hungry are you getting in your protein?? -
I was NOT one of those people with restriction right after surgery.
HeatherinCA replied to anewbeckiboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't spend 30 minutes, but I just chew it well and slow down as much as I can. I realistically take 15-20 minutes. Depending on what I'm eating. -

Well obviously on clear liquids you'd be hungry! The pressure is weird, I don't have a fill yet but I'm full but full feeling doesn't last very long, doesn't mean I'm hungry though. Where as before when I'd eat a ton that feeling would last a long time. -

I always feel like I'm not getting a work out on the elliptical IDK why. Probably need more resistance. You have to do ALOT of exercise is the point. When you are trying to lose weight, 20 minutes on the treadmill isn't going to cut it. You gotta burn 3,000 calories to lose a pound. I'm sure some is better than none, but mind as well step it up so it works for you. -
YOU ARE GOING TO BE HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY
HeatherinCA replied to cheryl2586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I disagree. I'm not hungry personally, my stomach doesn't growl unless I go past meal times, or I eat something improper. I was never hungry before op either, I just ate for whatever reason, or because I liked food. YES it's very hard to resist food. That we need to learn. I think the problem with the board is everyone just giving opinions and their experiences, it's not the same for everyone and we aren't experts. I'm a month into this, I'm not sick, I haven't puked, I don't hurt at all, I'm not hungry. All the things I read that I should be. haha. People are scared they want answers. Yes, there is some stupidity, and some ridiculous questions like why can I eat 4 cups of food... but you know just ignore it or help them out. This particular "post op" forum for me, seems like newbies.. you aren't immediately post op if you had it years ago. These questions are what I expect to see here. Everyone's experience is different. -

My weight loss has been about 1 - 2 pounds a week since I started food. I think i need to be a little more careful with what I'm eating, but I'm still not eating very much. Also my doc said next week i can amp up my exercise. Nope, I mean I physically want food because it tastes good, but I'm not hungry. I've been eating tons of protein eggs for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, ground turkey for dinner, oatmeal for a snack. I have no idea how big my band is or if there is anything in there. After I eat my small meals when I stand up I'm full in my stomach. It's not bloated full but I can feel the pressure. LoL a dream about tuna. Tuna is good! You could try gum? I haven't yet, I've seen mixed things about it. Ohh tip for everyone.. well idea. Lately I've been going to more specialty grocery stores when I'm out and can't make lunch and picking up a little tub of chicken salad or turkey or tuna salad it's SOOO good. I had turkey salad with cranberries and walnuts in it from Bristol Farms tonight and it was delicious. It's usually the right size too. Sometimes you can't always eat something good when you are out alone, stopping at a grocery store is a great idea. Watch the calories though, make sure it's not totally crazy. Also my old trainer always used to tell me (she just tweeted this): Fat-burning cardio tip: treadmill incline 15 to 40% (all the way uphill), speed 2.0 to 3.5 (no holding the hand rails), 45min-1hr 3-5days per week. we would always do this, or go hiking in the hills. -

Nice! I guess you don't need a fill if you are losing that much. It wouldn't help anything. That's great for both of you! I'm down like 8 since the 13th. -
"Sweet Spot" How many cc's did it take to reach?
HeatherinCA replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmm, yea but I could eat more, so I'm policing myself. BUT I'm not getting hungry at all in between. -

Thanks, I don't know, it just seemed like something that could be painful. I'm not afraid of shots though, so I'm good. My fill is on the 20th. -

I'm kinda confused as to what that even means... I know it sounds silly, but what am I supposed to feel after all these fills? I'm not hungry now... will I just get fuller faster? -

So the fill don't hurt at all? What does it feel like, just like a regular shot? -
If there were things you would find helpful ....
HeatherinCA replied to LaurenKauf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Or at least a sample of a menu. I'm always concerned if i'm eating too much or not enough. -

Yea, I'm doing great no pain, no hunger. I kinda want to do a support group but I'm not sure. I don't think I really need it, but it would be nice to have a buddy near by that I can bounce ideas off of -

I've been burping a lot lately. Haha -
What does your daily menu look like?
HeatherinCA replied to rktaurus71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is one of my days of food... Or to generalize it, Maybe 3 meals, 300 calories or less each, then 1 or 2 snacks 100 calories or less. This is "soft" foods, haven't ventured into solids yet, (gotta go shopping, but i'm sure this will work) 1/4 Cup Egg Beaters (30 cal, 6 protein) 1/2 serving 2% mexican blend cheese (40 cal, 3.5 protein) 1 tbsp Salsa Verde (5 cal, 0 protein) 1 packet oatmeal (120 cal, 4 protein) 1 tsp of Brown Sugar (15 cal, 0 protein) (I made oatmeal because i realized 1 serving of egg beaters was way to small! and I really like breakfast) 1/2 cup Fresh & Easy Cranberry Chicken Salad (~180 cal, 11 protein) 5 Water crackers (90 cal, 2 protein) "Taco Salad" 1/2 Cup Ground extra lean ground turkey (120 cal, 26 protein) 2 tbsp Salsa Verde (10 cal, 0 protein) 1 serving 2% mexican blend cheese (80 cal, 7 protein) 1 tbsp lite sour cream (40 cal, 2 protein) 1 whole grain taco shell smashed (55 cal , 2 protein) (then I broiled the top if you were curious ahha, or i'll do that with mozzarella and pasta sauce) Later I had more "taco salad" with less stuff 1/2 Cup Ground extra lean ground turkey (120 cal, 26 protein) 2 tbsp Salsa Verde (10 cal, 0 protein) 1/2 serving 2% mexican blend cheese (40 cal, 3.5 protein) 1 tbsp lite sour cream (40 cal, 2 protein) 995 calories, 63 protien 40 minutes of cardio burned about ~300+ calories -
Work at a Kosher Delicatessen and can't get things right
HeatherinCA replied to criveraarroyo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe, or just don't eat it!! I know it's hard, but you gotta make your eating conscious. Bring your lunch, or I'm sure at a deli you could make something healthy. -

I saw my doctor today for my post op, took about 4 seconds haha, my surgeon is speedy gonzoles! He said I can start exercising more strenuously next week. I'm having my fill on the 20th. I thought it was interesting quite a few people in the office today. We chatted a little bit, one girl had the lapband a few years ago but said she wasn't losing weight anymore. (she was pretty skinny!), another guy getting the sleeve, and a mom and daughter getting lapband, they asked me some questions about it. I found it at Borders it was buried in the diet section somewhere. I haven't cooked anything yet. It's really easy recipes for like fancy scrambled eggs, lots of soups, different sauces, then meat recipes but it says like how much to eat for each stage and how to puree it if you need to. Lots of recipes that have flavor but not fat. Different ethnic spices and things. I'm not much of a cook because I live alone and my kitchen is the size of a postage stamp, but i'm gonna try! Movie time ahhaha. -
Surgery was yesterday any advice for a 22 year old male?
HeatherinCA replied to Mpower's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It should be fine, you can find something anywhere to eat. Just eat much less of it. I'm sure even at the mess hall (or whatever they call it) they have protein, and veggies... -
Haha, I got a really nice watch for hanukkah, and now it's twirling on my wrist. Not exactly where I'd like to lose weight, but I'll take it haha

4 weeks post op and eating alot
HeatherinCA replied to band81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea that's the wrong way of looking at it. Don't test it!! Eat your half cup of food, drink your water! Or you won't change your lifestyle and you won't lose weight.
