Exactly!! The band has a hole in it, it's not gonna stop you from eating. I got my first fill the other day 5.5ccs (I know big!). I can still eat the same amount, my small meal I was eating pre-fill, but i'm SO FULL and that feeling lasts for hours, I'm gonna have to eat less because it feels weird!

I guess every doctor is different. i got 5.5 ccs in my FIRST fill. Which surprised me.. but you can't be getting much with 1cc. I feel very restricted! It feels good.

IT ISN'T HELPING, ANY SUGGESTIONS
HeatherinCA replied to GORDITA32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Adjustments help, I'm not hungry almost at all.. ever anymore Make sure you only eat when you are physically hungry, and eat slowly, your mind can be a beeotch. No grazing on food in between meals don't drink while you eat. exercise 5 days a week. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a salad a few times, I was fine, it just felt stupid because it's just lettuce.. no protein, not worth to me. It feels like eating nothing. I've had egg beaters and regular eggs no problem. I did read some people had trouble.. but I'd imagine if your band isn't too tight you should be able to get them down. I think a lot of people just aren't hungry at all in the morning. I had been having eggs, now I've been having oatmeal because I don't know if I can stomach eggs, or i'd eat such a small amount idk if it's worth it. (I've always been a breakfast fan) Last night I felt physically full for like 5 hours it was the weirdest feeling haha. After a while I was concerned maybe it was stuck? But I guess not, just taking much longer to digest. I'm guessing thats a signal I can eat a little less. Then I had oatmeal this morning and 3 or 4 hours I could feel it. So strange. It doesn't hurt, it just feels weird! -
6 Weeks Post Surgery - Not losing weight

5 days a week exercise? Getting Water and Protein in? Eating only when you are hungry? Hmm.. -
Both the husband & wife was banded how do you cook for the kid
HeatherinCA replied to Dawnzy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just make the same for him. The band isn't a "weird diet" I eat pretty normally, I just eat slower, and less. If you chili, he can have chili, if you have chicken salad he can have chicken salad. Just maybe his can be a sandwich, or he can have crackers with his chili.. things like that. If you have pureed something just give it to him in full form, then you eat yours pureed. -

Purpleshell try having oatmeal, it's quick to make, it always fills me up, it sticks to your insides pretty good! Or some eggs He put the needle in my port and filled some, then put me in front of this machine. Then I held the syringe while he went to look, then I took some sips of this white liquid stuff (it didn't taste THAT bad), then he filled more, looked etc. I guess they want to see the liquid going down and how easily it slides down. I had dinner like 4 hours ago and I'm still full, I have lots of gas, it feels weird! Not bad though, I'm sure if I was stuck I would know right? -
Restriction- What Do You Mean?
HeatherinCA replied to stateofzen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my doc yesterday when I got my fill and he said it'll make you fuller longer, so you won't feel the need to eat as much. I got 5.5ccs put in yesterday and I just ate my first meal tonight and I definitely feel fuller, and it's lasting longer (I had dinner about 2 hours ago and I still can physically feel the fullness) but I don't feel like I ate any less that I was before. . Oh and I agree, I don't crave crap anymore, it's so weird -
Little restriction but getting stuck all the time.
HeatherinCA replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's never gonna stop you from eating. Remember that. Hmm I'd say either your bites are too big, you are eating too much, or your band is too tight? I never get stuck either, maybe everyone reacts differently? -

My book says "long term, the size of your pouch will likely be eight to twelve ounces which will allow you to tolerate 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food" So yea i guess, but it can't be that big now could it? -
Restriction- What Do You Mean?
HeatherinCA replied to stateofzen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea it's a lot of head hunger, I just had a big fill, and even before it, I'm never hungry, it's all mental, and I want food, I'm used to looking for food everywhere I would go, it's hard to stop that. And like said above, I eat pretty much whatever. I keep it within reason, but I really don't feel deprived at all -

Yea, should be 1000-1200. Maybe you are right? Hmm, just seems like a large quantity, not the amount of calories. -
tell me you love your band!
HeatherinCA replied to amberakamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like mine!! I'll be a voice of encouragement here. I have had ZERO problems so far. I've lost 26 pounds in 5 weeks. I know it can be scary reading everything people have to say. Everything is actually pretty easy, yes you have to work, it takes a while to learn everything you need to know but it becomes easy after a while. I don't feel it nearly as limiting as a regular diet -
Eating mushies question.
HeatherinCA replied to Jmr314's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas sticks around a while, just walk, and burp haha. You are eating only like 1/4-1/2 cup food right, and slowly? -

MASSIVE Sweets Cravings
HeatherinCA replied to KimK813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found the best thing ever! Hershey's makes sugar free Chocolates, I got the Special Dark ones (those are least sugary to begin with) and one little fun size bar is 30 calories. Tastes good!! I can't tell it's sugar free, and cures my chocolate fix if I need it . I take really small bites and savour it. I wouldn't eat a ton because it has lots of fake sugar, but once in a while I'm sure it's ok. Also I got some cocoa dusted almonds, they are little 100 calorie packs, it's a little sweet, and almonds are very filling, and the new Jello mousse ones are great too, and sf fudgicals -

Not and expert and I dunno what your doctor told you, but your stomach is only about 1/2 cup in volume (size of an egg)? That seems like a bit too much food. Are you watching calories? All my meals are about 3/4 cup in size I would say, total. -
Restriction- What Do You Mean?
HeatherinCA replied to stateofzen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds about right stateofzen. I think people are wishing it would stop them physically from eating, and they would feel stuffed with a small amount of food. But they will never get that feeling. It's all up to me what I put in my mouth and how much. For me, the band stops me from being hungry so my mind doesn't want to eat all the time like on a regular diet. -

Well, have you followed all the rules? Exercise? I just got my fill, I'm losing but only maybe a pound or two a week. It's SOOO important to follow the rules or it won't work. The band will never do the work for you. -

Ok I had mine, he used the fluoroscope. He said he put 5.5 ccs in and said my band is 11 ccs interesting! Surprised it's so much. I feel full right now it's weird! That machine made me feel like an alien!! I'm on liquids for 24hrs that's it. -
If you are on regular, salad should be fine. I just don't chose them because there is no Protein, and it's not very filling. But I have had them, no problem. My book says don't add em in till week 12.. but I had one or two small ones w/o a problem.. I think raw veggies don't digest very well.

To swallow or not to swallow
HeatherinCA replied to grumpys wife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, the bites you are taking should be pencil eraser size. I think thats a little small, but just SMALL in general, no huge fork full of anything. -
To swallow or not to swallow
HeatherinCA replied to grumpys wife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chew enough, but I don't mush it to the point it's not recognizable. Just eat slowly, and cut things up pretty small. Like for me, for example if I'm having sushi, I'll cut one piece of the roll in to 4 or 5 bites, versus eating it all at once. I don't do pencil eraser size, but just make sure it's small. I also bought a shrimp fork and a tiny spoon that helps a lot.
