  1. Well, it'll never stop you from eating. You have to control it. You may not feel extremely full. It's a diet... It just keeps you from being hungry all the time. I think the question is are you HUNGRY, not am I full? You have to work on the mental battle. I think some people want their band so tight that they physically can't eat much food. But that's not comfortable! 1-1/2 cups in the long term is your pouch size.
  2. I do it once maybe twice a week, just to make sure I'm on the right track. It fluctuates too much daily I don't wanna do that!

    Restriction

You still have to work at it, it's not gonna stop you from putting good in your mouth.
  4. Make sure you measure your food. No fibrous vegetables. Stick to like beans or mashed sweet potatoes, squash stuff like that. Also things like chili, tuna, stuff like that.

    I had my first fill

The band will never stop you from eating. You have to stop yourself. Are you really hungry or is it mental? All it really should do it make you not hungry.

    Gym and calories

You need to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound. I wouldn't like subtract it from what you are eating... well like a normal diet for someone my size would be like 3,000 calories or something, so by eating 1,200 you are automatically losing weight. Then the exercise subtracts more. But yes, then muscle weights more than fat.. it's complicated haha.

Preop diet to get back on track?

I was wondering about that.. but i'm guessing losing water weight isn't that good for you. and liquid diet right now makes me WAY more hungry.
  8. I didn't gain any... I didn't lose any the week or two after though.
  9. haha but it doesn't taste that great. I just can think of better things to eat than a salad. Also be extremely careful if you eat a salad at a restaurant. They can have 2,000 calories.
  10. About 5 days. Then I was pretty much back to normal, maybe running 85%. I was 100% about 2 or 3 weeks nothing hurt anymore and I could move freely.

    Discouraged...

I didn't lose much the first few weeks, maybe a pound a week. Don't worry it's normal just watch your calories and what you are eating.

    First Fill

No pain, I didn't get numbed or anything. It was just really awkward getting a needle in your stomach. My doc did a fluro fill, so he can see how easily stuff goes down. The whole experience just creeped me out, but no pain or anything.
  13. I don't measure em if I do. I just don't like them though, it doesn't fill me up, and dressing is terrible for you.

    Lap Band Surgery

Well, your BMI isn't all that high... and you can't exercise. I'm not sure... can you diet and lose the weight normally? or have you done that? Most of us have serious problems, I've been overweight since I was a child, I've been on every diet.. etc etc.. it's not a quick fix, it basically just put me on a permanent diet. Also it doesn't control my life, or my eating. I have to consciously make these decisions. I think the worst thing I read online is that people thought it would physically stop them from eating. Honestly, all it really does for me is makes me not hungry (like i would be on a regular diet). It's not a miracle diet. Also can you give up soda? caffeine? I went through all that did my withdrawl.. Every body reacts differently too. I am not having problems with any food, and I'm not all that hungry all the time and I don't puke. But some people have trouble with all kinds of food, and get sick all the time. For me, as of now I'm glad I did it.

    Health Insurance after lapband..

Really why would they turn you down because of that? You think they'd like it so you won't develop future problems.. Hmm. but hey I've been turned down for acne before and they would turn you down for being overweight. http://www.healthcare.gov/law/provisions/preexisting/index.html maybe you can get something through this? I thought it was more general like they can't turn you down period, but I guess it's not, or it didn't go into effect yet.

    Exercise Regimen

I just took little walks, or just did my errands, nothing big. Then I was cleared for regular exercise after a month.

    Starving!!!

Are you getting 60-90 grams of Protein a day? and are you sure it's not gas? My stomach just felt wonky for a while..it wasn't necessarily hunger Are you having Soup? Can you have pureed bean soup, it be comes totally liquid when you puree it, that has a lot of protein? For that week I generally had 3-4 Protein Shakes a day, and maybe a cup of soup. Did you give up caffeine that might be giving you a headache?
  19. Haha mine are all for that 1-800-get-thin (you know the ones being sued) and isopure. haha.

    Swelling after a fill?

Doesn't it create more pressure on your stomach when it's tightened? That must be sort of a traumatic event to your stomach. The first 2 days after my fill, I felt SO full after I'd eat it was the weirdest feeling haha, must of been from swelling. But it relaxed after a couple of days.

    Weather Changes affect your bnd

I haven't noticed. I noticed its a little tighter when I'm on my period. I'd just savor it, bonus restriction! haha

    Reality

Might just be too much weight to control w/ the lapband. I think the sleeve and gastric bypass have more built in control than the band does.

    Question about food

I eat carbs.. I generally I'll have a piece of whole wheat toast with my eggs for Breakfast, or crackers w/ my chicken salad. I had a piece of pizza this weekend, and I had a taco from chipotle but it depends on if your body can handle it, I have no trouble, some people can't tolerate rice or bread. I just won't eat like a sandwich.. or a bagel something really bready.

    Banded January 24..mixed feelings

It all get normal after a few weeks once you start eating again it takes a while to learn the ropes, but now, I'm 7 weeks out and I feel normal. I eat normal food, yet I'm losing weight. I just don't eat as much. I'm full for hours which is great, I don't feel deprived or anything. I was scared going in too, I had mine cancelled a few times, I kinda had a BLAH attitude about losing weight, but I went ahead because I knew it was what I needed to do. But now i'm glad i did it
  25. I thought it was extremely awkward! But no pain. They stick a long needle into your port, which is somewhere in your stomach.
