7 Days Post band - I feel fine!
HeatherinCA replied to B-52's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YAY! Don't focus too much on the fills, focus on eating the proper diet, that will help you much more! -
constipation, irregular!! NEED HELP BAD!!!
HeatherinCA replied to krasc001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

When will the weight come off?
HeatherinCA replied to donnalemaster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you dieting? 1000-1200 calories, 64 ounces of water, 60g of protein.. and I would step up the gym, 5 days a week 45min-1hour. The band won't help if you aren't doing those things. I haven't had mine as long as you, but I'd go back to basics and remember what you were supposed to do when you started. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!! yes you are doing it right you aren't relying on the fills. I really wish they would explain it better before surgery. I know they just want $$$ but they would have much more success if everyone knew exactly what the band does. -
The Sweetheart's Challenge
HeatherinCA replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down 2. Phew this is hard!! I'm going strong though. I feel good. I got some new smaller gym clothes, bras, and underwear this weekend so that makes me feel good. I want some tips to lose faster! You'd think for spending 5 hours a week at the gym, and following your diet would be enough. Oy, how do skinny people do it? LOL -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been having the mousse pudding that's good! -
I have egg beaters, with chicken breast and salsa and 1 piece of toast. I like breakfast to be my biggest meal for some reason. I eat right when I wake up, I go brush me teeth and stuff then eat.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat bread, toasted though, but it goes down fine, and I have ONE normal size piece, I'm not sure if I could eat a sandwich.. and I've had a little bit of pasta, but not much (like asian type noodles). I eat quite a bit of crackers. I mean you can have like a 1/2 a cup of pasta.. thats boring, I'd rather eat something else. Lordy just got the insurance claim(s) for my surgery.. I think they messed it up and billed me twice :-/ my surgeon is great, but his office staff is so dumb!! Hopefully I can sort it out tomorrow *crossing my fingers* -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HeatherinCA replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doing good. I gotta eat a little less! Gosh why is it so hard? I always justify eating a little bit more. I worked my butt off at the gym this week, I'm down 1 pound so far, Monday's are my official weigh in day, so hopefully one more tomorrow! I'm trying some variety this week, I got some turkey meatballs, hopefully those are good Anyone have a good satisfying dessert / after dinner snack ideas? I eat around 6, but I stay up pretty late, I usually want something before bed. I've been having oatmeal, but I think I need to scale it back a little. Something 100 cal or under. Has anyone tired the 100 Calorie hostess snacks. I had them pre-op but haven't tried them now.. I wonder if they'd get stuck? (not having any other stuck problems though). I think that could be a good snack. -
No sweet spot...that's a myth!
HeatherinCA replied to kathymcc123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree, I don't think there is one. My band is 5.5ccs full, and I'm never hungry, so it's doing it's job. I still wanna eat though. It's all mental, I went so many years loving food, eating whenever and whatever I wanted. I'm working on training myself to not want it all the time. I know I have to control what goes in. I think too many people have the illusion that eventually the band will stop them from eating. -
I don't think it matters, I eat usually within 30 minutes of waking up and I eat a full breakfast, I know some people just have a protein shake.. I don't think it matters, just make sure you watch your calories all day.

Travel advice wanted
HeatherinCA replied to Jess55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on vacation like 2 weeks after I was banded, no problems. Hotels usually have a gym if you need it. Just eat small portions and you should be fine! oatmeal, eggs, grilled chicken, fish veggies I'm sure you can find these things I haven't flown yet, but I can't see ANY reason why it would be a problem. -
Haha I'm almost at mine, hilarious!

How long do you really go between meals?
HeatherinCA replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could go 5 hours. I have breakfast around 10:00 (egg beaters/chicken breast w/ 1 piece toast) lunch around 1-2 (chicken salad & crackers) dinner 5:30-6 (ground turkey w/ cheese and salsa) and then a snack around 8 (oatmeal usually) I -
2 1/2 months and the scale isnt moving!
HeatherinCA replied to Melly26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea, just gotta eat healthy and exercise. If you eat protein rich meals and eat slowly, it should curb your hunger, it's not there to do much else. It's not going to stop you from eating. -
Recovery/Returning to Work
HeatherinCA replied to Patti.Ramsey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea after 4 of 5 days I felt fine... the only thing is you are on liquids for a week or two, you might not have as much energy -
Fruit has a lot of sugar. http://www.sugarstacks.com/fruits.htm http://www.thepaleodiet.com/nutritional_tools/fruits_table.html here's a diagram and chart.. I would be careful.. it's just liquid calories. Would be better offer eating the whole fruit, at least it'll fill you up

Insurance Will Cover 100% Of Lap Band Surgery United Health Care “choice Plus”
HeatherinCA replied to Amanda1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really that's it? I don't have this insurance, but they sent all kinds of bills for anesthesia, the surgery and things. I would be cautious there probably is more expenses, I wouldn't go spend that money just yet! Especially if this is a PPO, don't you have to reach your deductible or something.. -
Where is the best location for a port? (so it doesnt stick out later or after pregnancy)
HeatherinCA replied to antonelladg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I don't think you have a choice where it goes, mine is right in the center maybe 2" below my breast bone.
