  1. Sorry to tell you, the burping never really goes away... I mean it's not painful or annoying anymore, but i can still burp on command, and it's worse if I eat too much.
  2. I had the worst cold the week before surgery, and they said it should be ok. I was feeling maybe 85% better by the time I had it. They just ran it by the anesthesiologist and my surgeon before had. Definitely call your doctor. So at least they know.

    Eating with Baby Spoon??

LOL weird.. but I do use one at home, helps me take smaller bites.

    What's on your menu today?

Well, everyones different... If you are having trouble getting Protein down are you maybe too tight? Everyone eats different. I get about 4oz of protein per meal, then if i can fit in anything else I add that in.

    What's on your menu today?

Breakfast: I had 2 eggs sunny side up, with 1 light english muffin Lunch: Should be the left over chicken salad in my fridge with 2 flat bread crackers dinner Either a lean cuisine pizza (omg these are good I'm obsessed with them), or 4 turkey meatballs with mozzarella cheese and marinara and knowing me, probably a stop for some Pinkberry somewhere in there

3-month out, got a few questions

Yes, if you are still hungry all the time then you need another fill. You will definitely know when it starts working the hunger drops off. Protein shakes for a meal are fine, but is that ALL you have? Cause they have a lot of calories. If you are eating your protein for breakfast, lunch, and dinner you should be getting in all your protein.

3-month out, got a few questions

    1. Probably the port! ahha. 2. You said it, "you know you are eating too much" that is why you aren't losing weight.. 900-1200 calories or it won't go anywhere. Simple math. 1/2 hour of cardio isn't burning 3500 calories required to lose a pound. 1/2 hour of cardio burns maybe 200-300 calories... depending on intensity 3. The food goes through. I would imagine It kind of piles up on top and trickles down into your stomach. You aren't hungry because your band is pressing on your vagus nerve which prevents the hunger hormone from being released. It doesn't sit there for 4 hours. 4. I don't know what to tell you except if you don't follow the 1200 calorie diet, you won't lose weight. There is no way around it. I can eat whatever I want, and I can eat a decent amount of food. But, I don't, or I will gain weight. If you are still hungry then you need another fill... or make sure 100% it's not mental, 90% of this battle is mental.
  8. It shouldn't be a problem.. they aren't going to fill you so you can't eat... 6ccs at surgery really? Hmm... Just remember you'll be on liquids and mushies for a few days..
  9. I didn't cheat... I was scared to death of puking it would of hurt so bad! Not to mention, I didn't spend $13,000 on surgery to screw it up after a week. (Besides, my liquids was only a week before and week after surgery)
  10. Thanks everyone!

    In Mourning

The post band diet isn't as bad as everyone thinks. I remember I was so scared too that I was only going to get to eat a 1/4 cup of tuna for the rest of my life and that simply isn't true. I eat fairly normally, I just eat less. It's not weird to not be stuffing yourself, you feel so much better eating a normal diet. Also it's uncomfortable as hell, and you are full of gas if you overeat ahha, do it once and you won't want to.
  12. Yea it sucks, but I loved the 15lb jump start it gave me on my diet!! Besides you have to learn to stick to a diet, what is it saying if you can't stick to the liquids?
  13. I can eat about a cup to a cup and a half of food per meal (I THINK I eat more than I do, but I really don't haha, I eat about 4oz of Protein and some sort of f side usually about a 1/4 cup of whatever it is.) and I'm full 5 hours or more. When was your last fill? For me, after my fill a few weeks later all of a sudden I just felt full all the time no hunger. It's different for everyone.. for me, if I over eat I get all gassy and feel weird.
  14. Yea just see how you feel, it's hard to put a number on it.

    Any Non Scale Victories?

I've been off soda and caffeine free for 5 months, I don't miss it. I fit in size 18 pants! But I don't own any yet cause I'll probably be in a 16 before I get around to buying them. My ass fits in a movie theatre seat with the arms down, same goes for an airplane LOL. I don't get tired as easily. If I have to I can go like 8 hours without eating and not freak out about being starving. I'm like 5 pounds away from not ever having to buy shirt at Lane Bryant again. My watch is too big LOL I can buy an XL t-shirt at Old Navy. I spend less money on food.

    I'm full!....No, I'm hungry!!!

it takes a few weeks for your fill to fully take effect. So give it sometime. If in a month you are still hungry after 1-2 hours then get another fill

Can you have lap band at 17?

    I don't see why not? I'm 25. I wish I had done it a few years ago.
  19. HeatherinCA

    using cooking wine

It shouldn't... unless you are drinking it haha. Just remember the calories it's adding to the dish.

    don't read if your scared

Just walk around, drink your water.. I felt pretty good by day 3.
  21. 1. After surgery have a heating pad, helps with the pain 2. Pick one Protein shake you like and buy that. I bough them all, they are all nasty, don't bother trying every brand . Also the premixed ones taste much better. Also don't focus on liquids that aren't protein. Just get your protein in FIRST. If you still want other liquids or whatever.. do it after. 3. Gummy Vitamins taste good! The chalky ones are nasty. 4. You will be able to eat real food. Haha I had this impression i was gonna eat nothing forever but a 1/4 cup of tuna. That's simply not true. I eat fairly normally. i just eat LESS. The most important part is staying at 1000-1200 calories. Not what you eat. 5. Not everyone gets stuck. I haven't been stuck once. I don't chew my food till it's liquid. 6. Buy baby utensils, makes eating smaller bites easier at home. It also makes your small meals more satisfying when you take a little longer to eat it. Also for the first month or so I put my meals in ramekins so it doesn't look lost on a big plate. Even now, my main dinner plate is a salad plate, and most food I just put in a paper bowl. 7. My main rule for myself is "is this worth the calories" a lot of times it isn't. So then I don't want it anymore. Do I want a 400 calorie cupcake? No, because thats as many calories my entire dinner. Then I seem to lose my appetite for it. 8. Remember this is your lifestyle.. this isn't a quick fix. YES this is a diet though. A lot of people think oh I can go back to eating how I was before and the band will stop me when I should be full. That isn't the case, and it is possible to grossly overeat with a band. The band controls your hunger, it's main job isn't to control how much you eat, that is your job. 9. 90% of this battle is mental, work on yourself, and finding the reasons why you eat. 10. Don't worry so much! it's not as hard as it sounds, it's just a lot to remember at first. But ultimately my life is normal.. I just eat like a skinny person, and don't drink when I'm eating haha. You can read my blog if you want to see my thoughts, I've had it since i started my pre-op diet.
  22. Chili, tuna, oatmeal. I liked things that were a "meal" and had protein. I didn't like the thought of eating a cup of mashed potatoes or beans.. unless I had to.

    Plateau...ugh!

Yea, try shocking your routine, changing your diet a little going up or down in calories a by 100.. or try low carb, or exercise more. Or if you aren't writing your food down, try that for a little while, make sure you are really eating correctly. I know for me, I try to justify eating things, but the numbers don't lie.
  24. There are ways to have your favorite foods, just not all the time, and not a lot of it. Like if you want pizza have ONE slice, or have a Lean Cuisine pizza (I really like those actually). You do have to remember, if you don't stay within your 1200 calorie diet restrictions. You WILL NOT lose weight. It's still a diet. Ultimately, with the band you have to switch your thoughts.. it shouldn't be about getting pleasure from food. When you have a fill your hunger ceases, which makes that easier. Guys, give her a little break, she' s on liquids obviously you fantasize about food. I think I dreamt about it haha.
