It may not be the best way but I quit cold turkey. I quit several years ago when my wonderful Mother-in-Law was in her final stages of lung cancer. I quit at her request when she reminded me that I needed to be healthy for my children and be able to see their mile-stones..This was a harsh reality for me. You have to take the same initiative, your health is a life and death situation. You have to visualize yourself as being healthy and fit...

Thank you for your post....my calcium levels were good along with everything else..did they check your levels in between? Have you heard of anyone being delayed because of a low level...My surgeon's office thought that I may be able to have my procedure the last of September pending Insurance approval...

Congratulation! My brother had Gastric Bypass and lost 100 lbs and kept it off for 10 years.

I am still on my "getting it approved" journey. I had the PCP completed, Labs, Psych today EGD yesterday...Nutritionist next tuesday and I meet with my surgeon on Thursday....then I will wait!...I am so excited I can hardly stand myself...lol. We are only seasoned women...I am 45...

:thumbup: I have just started the process of getting apporved by my insurance company for Lap Band Surgery. I had my labs done on friday and I see the nurtitionist this thursday. Psych and Surgeon appt this week. I guess I am just scared that I will not be approved. My BMI is 44 and I do have co-morbidities including high blood pressure, being on 2 meds with fair control, fibromyalgia (not sure if this counts) and poor pain control related to my fibro. I have gastric reflux and was in the hospital in February for a suspected heart attack, but that was proven to be gastric reflux. I remain on medication for that...Just wondering if anyone has any experience with BC/BS. When I called my rep about benefits, he stated that the Lap Band procedure was covered along with the surgeon that I have chosen to use, along with the Psych consult...just nervously hurrying up and waiting...It seems like once I made my mind up now I can hardly wait!

Congratulations for making this choice. I too am like you, I have just made the choice, and actually go to the surgeon on August 19....looking forward to this first step....waiting on insurance approval, going to a nutritionist this week the psych and surgeon the following week...excited yet apprehensive!
