First fill - no restriction
Mandyrae replied to MLBL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my first fill a few days ago as well and I got 4ccs. My doctor told me right from the beginning that most people do not feel any restriction until they get 6-7ccs in them. After my fill she told me if after 2 weeks I feel no restriction and have no problems eating to call in and she will see me early. Maybe you can try that.. give it 2 weeks and then call the doctor and ask to come in early.. can't hurt! -

I know how you feel... I have only lost maybe 15-20 lbs since and I can not tell a difference but all my friends and family are startng to notice changes.. saying my neck and face is thinner and I did notice my hands are too since my rings are starting to get a little big. =)

I am in Dallas, Texas and work with a real estate attorney. Also am a massage therapist =) I too want to go back to school..not sure for what though.... would LOVE radiology but after checking out the programs around here they are all day programs and so with my schedule I don't think I would be able to do that. =( -
I have aetna insurance...im 2 bend classes before all info is sent to my ins company
Mandyrae replied to sgipson04's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have aetna as well and I too had to have 4 months of clases before. 3 nutrition and 1 last appt with my surgeron before they could submit everything for approval, and the appts had to be 30 days apart. After they submitted everything to be approved it took about a week and half to get an approval and once I got that I was clear to schedule my surgery. I know it seems like a long process but it all went by so quickly.. good luck!! -
How much pain did this cause you?
Mandyrae replied to BobBigBoy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had very little pain.. of course I had liquid codeine and made sure the first 2 days I took it right at every 4 hours and not wait until I was hurting so I know that prolly had a lot to do with it. My biggest issue was the shoulder pain from the gas but that went away within a few days. I had my surgery on a Friday and was back to work on Monday. I wouldn't worry, you will do great! -
craving sweets more than ever
Mandyrae replied to rpm2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like sweets but never really craved it before surgery... since surgery I have been craving sweet tasting things a lot more!! I have been buying sugar free pudding and yogurts and I also got some sugar free hard candy and suckers so when the craving hits I can just have one of those. Also fruit is good, sweet red grapes are awesome! -
Just had my first fill... don't feel any difference/ yummy soup recipe
Mandyrae replied to jingleboob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long do you cook it in the crock pot? I keep hearing about this soup and at first wasn't interested but now I think I need to try it. Also is your doc strick on fills? My doc sayd 4 weeks between fills but if I go 2 weeks and still can eat whatever I want and as much, to call her and she will let me come in early for another fill. Maybe you should just call your doc and ask? -
Recommitting to my band and exercise!!!
Mandyrae replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck!!! -
I have read in a few different places where people talk about how bad greek yogurt taste but they still tolerated it cause of the protein. Well I just bought some called Chobani and it is pretty good! Got it at my regular grocery store and they had different flavors with the fruit in the bottom. 0 fat 140 cal and 14 grams of protein.

Gave pre0op a try with terrible result
Mandyrae replied to gracierose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets really hard, the 2nd day into my liquid diet I thought I was going to pass out so I had a small salad with no dressing. 4th day I had a small piece of a chicken breast. As the days passed it did it easier though. I ate sooo many SF popsicles, I'm surprised I didn't get tired of them. I did buy the crystal light popsicles as well and they were good! Good luck with the rest of your diet and trust me it is well worth it!! Your surgery day with be here before you know it! -
Anyone else loving fruit chips?
Mandyrae replied to jingleboob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MMMM I like apple chips! Can't say I had the other 2 flavors though.. have to try that! Bannanna chips are also super yum! -
I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years not and never once told him how much I weigh. I never told a soul until I started to meeting other people who had the weight loss surgery and all were shocked to find out the true number.. I am very tall so I can hide my weight better. Just last week my BF and I were talking and he said he couldn't wait until I loss some weight so we could go out more and do things. (before I would get tired and wouldn't want to be out long) and when he said that I started crying.. told him I was so mad at myself and finally broke down and told him my true weight.. which was soooo hard to say and made me sob harder, I felt soo ashamed. He had no idea and has been very supportive.

Mandyrae replied to gracierose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats and good luck!!! Yes I was also allowed a unlimited amount of SF jello and popsicles on my liquid diet before.. the SF fruit bars are super yum! -
I also have a Sam's card as well as costco and I really haven't noticed a difference in price. We just also go to costco more cause its closer and I think they have a better selection of fresh foods and meats.

Sugar is something I have to pay close attention to since my boyfriend is a diabetic. I am finding with most prepared foods there will always be sugar but as long as we stay at 10 grams or less per serving his blood sugar isn't really affected. I normally don't eat breakfast so for me breakfast is my Protein Drink, but I hear egg beaters are suppose to be really good for you.. Haven't tried them yet but I want too.

How much protein does Carnation Instant Breakfast have? I would think your not getting enough protein in and your body is starting to realize it is being deprived. It is important to get 50-70 grams of protein a day, so I would try getting a high protein drink. I drink the premier protein shakes, you can get them at Coscto (or online) and even though I am not a Chocolate fan they are yummy and 30 grams of protein per drink!! Also I would get some chewable vitamins and start taking those as well. I take the flinstones chewables 2 times a day. -
Favorite foods since being banded?
Mandyrae replied to missgypsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only a week out (and on mushies) but also LOVE my protien drinks. Before the surgery I thought I would never drink them again since I got so tired of them but now that I have the choice I still find myself having 1 or 2 a day, especially when I have a day where I don't feel like eating but know I have to have something. My mouth is watering thinking about a spinach salad... I use to eat those all the time! I liked to add hard boiled eggs and sunflower seeds to mine. Is 1 week out too soon for spinach?? -
Yes Coscto is awesome! I went yesterday just to get my yummy premier shakes and left with a cart full of goodies. I like to get my soup there too.. by the deli section, they sell my fav Panera Bread Co. Broc&Cheese soup. =)

Eating too soon?
Mandyrae replied to SarahMarie123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery 9/10 as well and doc said I could start on full liquids and mushies right away which I have had no problems. I am still drinking my protein drinks though on top of it. Today I had a protein drink for breakfast, mash potatoes and yogurt for lunch and another protein drink for dinner. -
Should not have read surgery stories. Need reassurance
Mandyrae replied to gracierose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was just this last Friday and it was super easy, showed up at 7:30 and was home by 1:30. Took a small nap and just chilled on the couch rest of the day. Next morning went to the store to get some soups and just to walk around. I even did a little cleaning the day after. Yeah I was sore but the more I walked the better I felt and of course I made sure to take my meds every 4 hours and not wait until I hurt again to take it. I went back to work Monday and stop taking my meds Monday as well.
